Blacklist addon needs to be removed from game

But if that happens too much people would stop trusting the blacklist, so there needs to be some type of consensus. The only power the blacklist has is the power the players give it.

This is the truth

A bunch of nerds who were excluded in high school and probably shamed trying to harass normal WOTLK players.

Ban them all

classic wow is just high school.

I would say people are just mad that their reputation can follow them. Should be happy enough that you can pay for a name change and server transfer.

For some people such as the designers of this addon yes it is

I don’t think we’re getting the whole story, here.

We won’t get the whole story to be honest. We have bits and pieces of past behavior of being toxic , ninja looting , mic spamming apparently ( or whatever spamming their mixtape was ) Stream Sniping which is against ToS for both wow and most streaming platforms. They wont post on the toon they are blacklisted on because Im sure people from the realm probably have screen shots of their toxicity.
They are what’s known as a repeat offender and are just pushing the blame on anyone but themselves.

Its weird to think that anyone with any sort of reading comprehension could justify OPs actions. I wouldn’t doubt if a couple of them were just alts or friends but for those that don’t to understand the situation it goes like this.

Destiny had their name added to a blacklist add on that people ( mostly guild leaders and higher end content players ) use so they don’t add someone to a raid /RBG or dungeon group that will ruin the run / waste time / afk boss fights or ninja loot.

The reason for getting added to it was for Ninja looting the Warbear mount from ZA in Classic TBC
over time they have shown no reason to be taken off if it ( see above reasons ) and it seems they have been banned from the realm community discord for toxic behavior.

Imagine being in a Call of Duty lobby with 9 kids that are all playing music over the mic , yelling , and team killing then complaining when no one wants to party up after the match.
This is that.

I am not defending the op (I personally think it’s funny that they would out the bad thing they did to the world like that and complain when people have a problem with it.)

But I think public blacklisting is just too easy to exploit, especially when it is player run. Like I said before I could just lie and blacklist someone I don’t like, and no one would be the wiser. And they would have a dark stain on their record for who knows how long. (and if I really wanted to rub it in I could use an alt to avoid my record being tarnished in the lie.)

If you even want to do something like this you need an unbiased person running this and I highly doubt anyone is handling that.

From what I understand the community can take you off the list with an appeal like OP was trying to do and anyone who abuses the system would probably get put on it themselves. You have to think word spreads faster now than ever especially with a community discord that has the ability to upload screen shots and video as proof. If someone was added unfairly I doubt it would warrant being on the list as long as OP has been on it without solid evidence.

But I see where the abuse worry comes from. I don’t use it and don’t know the UI for it or anything but banning the addon can’t stop people from making a list on the community discord or in a guild note or anything like that. The add on just makes it so you don’t have to go searching though a backlog of people who are known to ruin gameplay in one way or another.
As others have said though , its up to the user of the addon to either ignore the list or go by it.
I also don’t see how not interacting with someone in any way shape or form is harassment.
It’s like saying someone who wont eat shrimp anymore because they had a bad experience with it a few times and don’t really feel like risking it again is a picky eater.

THERE IS TEN MINUTES LEFT IN THE RAID.

Like Jesus guy, you actually said “thanks for the loot, now I’m taking 1/6th of the raids dps, have fun with the last two bosses, goodbye” and left.

You’re a leech.

Unless, not an exaggeration someone was dying, there is no reason to leave that raid. You went and took a spot that is now almost impossible to replace, and wasted the time of 9 other people for your own gain. If you wanted only the bear, then maybe, you should have joined a bear run, where all 10 people agree that the last two bosses are worthless as no one needs the loot and only the bear is of value.

But no. You just used them and when you got what you wanted you then proceeded to waste all of their time. You are a leech.

I’ve met many players like you. You almost never change. Almost every time someone does this, it’s for their own selfish reasons and players like this are generally repeat offenders.

The price for that bear is a reroll. Lose the bear, get a clean record again, otherwise, sit alone in a cramped city on your bear.

I mean can’t you just change the character name and not use the (highly recognizable) mount and/or server transfer.

what’s your Faerlina character name so we can all look up what you actually did instead of what you’re claiming, hmm?

there is literally no listing of a player listed solely for SRing the bear and leaving raid. Only 2 people are listed with having anything to do with a war bear and both were listed for ninja looting the bear to themselves and leaving.

more like “don’t run with X, they stole 40,000g from a gdkp”

It’s not “well I just don’t like you”. More like dealing with the consequences of ripping people off and being a toxic pos.

Social justice should come with the ability for redemption and self correction, I’m not advocating that dipping out on a raid after getting what you wanted is right but we shouldn’t condemn the person to the fullest either.

The crime should fit the punishment. There are reasons why good behavior exists in modern prison systems unless that right was stripped from the criminal, which in this case the person shouldn’t have that stripped, it’s not like they ninjaed the legendary ultra mega staff of gods +5 from a player that won the item.

The punishment is that some people just don’t want to play with them. They have nothing taken from them.

This isn’t a court and your “punishment” is only social. It’s up to you to find a social solution to this “punishment” and work it out or pay a name change/server transfer.

If it was a Blizzard system sure you could argue about how they should have a way for redemption, but people are free to not forget or forgive.

That’s fine but developing a tool to track a name cross realm, whos to say someone else uses said name on a whole different realm? why should they be damned for someone else’s decision of flat out stealing an item from someone who won it?

These kinds of tools are abused 1000% hands down and you can’t deny it which is why people advocate for the bricking of them kinda like raider io is hated by a huge population of players.

By that same logic the same people behind a tool like this shouldn’t have any social redemption either, they made a tool inherently designed in a way to be abused by any number of players and said tool keeps a list of players across an entire region of servers and damning anyone who uses the same name to scrutiny and hatred.

What about it is cross-realm? Do you even know what the addon is? It’s the same as adding a note to someone you put on ignore

People love F’n around, but they hate the finding out part. Most people are put on realm watchlists for a reason. Next you’ll find out that guilds often communicate to each other about bad recruits so they don’t pick up a dud.
