Ya goofed Blizzard. These things were never this inaccessible in Vanilla. I used to troll with Flasks of Petrification all the time because lotus wasn’t too expensive. Now, I’d have to be insane to do that.
Fix it, bring back the cheap lotus. Put them on the Alchemical supply vendor in unlimited quantities for 5g a lotus.

Only thing that would actually be a real fix is to change the population caps back to vanilla values, which I totally agree with.

What are you, some sort of elitist?
20 silver is more than enough.

The spawn Rates nor the number of nodes were not increased though the population caps were. Blizz is not to good at math, guess the guy who could read and calculate complex ratio’s went to another company.

At the very least, add spawn locations to Felwood, WPL, Un’Goro and Blasted Lands…or give them a 1% chance to spawn in other high level herbs.
Something needs to be done because the Supply vs Demand is not Vanilla like. I don’t remember flasks ever being more than 60-70g back in the good days.

Unfortunately, that ship sailed when they allowed the increased numbers so unless Blizzard plans on fracturing servers, proportionate increases in Black Lotus spawns should be in place.
They’re going to have to think of something because moving forward into TBC there are just too many limited outdoor things to do/gather that have no other alternative. If populations stay as they are, daily quests are going to be a complete nightmare and with flying, you had better be a Druid herbalist or you’re never getting anything. Phasing will likely assist with the horrendous bottlenecks of leveling through Hellfire Peninsula and Zangarmarsh, but unless they keep it on all the time, Ogri’la and Netherwing and Shattered Sun dailies are just going to be nigh unplayable. And gold will continue to massively inflate since Blizzard didn’t go back and nip gold farming old dungeons/raids until sometime in Wrath (or maybe that was just raids).
Population really did a number on every facet of the game, exacerbating minor annoyances and grievances into full blown ridiculous garbage.

Like… if you’re bad at farming it, maybe reroll on a low pop realm.
Sure, lotus will get cheaper/easier, but everything else will cost much more.
Maybe they could add it as a part of the loot table with higher level herbs.
Although the obvious fix would be to let it spawn more frequently in more actual random places so farmers can’t hoard them all.

Are “low” population realms on Classic actually having a suffering market and/or easier access to Black Lotus because I’m not aware of any realms where this is true, barring faction death on certain servers (while the dominant faction still thrives and farms just fine).
Demand for Black Lotus is only going to increase with the coming raids, not decrease, so I see no reason why even low pop realms would have a glut of flasks compared to others.

They dont. Farmers bot all realms and transfer them around.
Hmm some things might. Like mountain silversage. Others like gromsblood and dreamfoil would stay steady since they pretty much can be farmed to your hearts content in DME, which helps regulate the price. Same reason Arcanite has remained relatively steady.

Nah. I’ll never be in favor of changes.
The only viable solution to a problem caused by changes is to undo the changes. Making further changes to compensate for the changes already made will continue to make the game worse by taking us further away from vanilla.
I don’t want Blizzard balancing and designing the game. They are not capable of doing it properly anymore. The only reason Classic is as good as it is is because the Blizzard of old did most of the work and the modern Blizzard only had to copy it… and they managed to muck that up even still.

I don’t see how they can “undo” the population cap increases without outright nuking the existing servers and giving everyone the opportunity to go to a new server, which sounds like a complete nightmare to manage. What happens when only half the guild manages to get transferred to the right place? What about alts?
I get your rigid rejection of changes but we’re sitting with one right now that is not easily undone, if it can be undone at all.

90g is avg here for a lotus.
15-20 for gromsblood and icecap stacks
22-30G for dreamfoil and silversage
i wouldnt call the markets “suffering”. But lets just say, I have a friend that transfers realms with goods and he brings me dreamfoil and I give him lotus. So far i’ve traded probably 15-20 stacks of it away. If i didn’t trade lotus away, then lotus prices would likely drop down to the 50-60G mark and there wouldn’t be enough dreamfoil harvested to match the lotus that has been harvested anyway.
I’m not a bot. I don’t have any bots.
That would require a population of people farming DME, which is very few on this realm compared to a high pop realm. Arcanite is creeping up and up too.
Low pop realms have the same amount of lotus spawns as high pop realms.
Last i checked, Black Lotus were over 120g on Arugal, Alliance Side, with Flasks hitting about 200g each. Might be a bit less now as most of the guilds that can clear BWL have it on farm now.
Mongoose are about 4-8g a pop depending on which day of the week it is. Even DME Farmers cannot keep the price of Dreamfoil down.
That’s because it isnt worth the time to stop and pick the dreamfoil yet. There is a gold point where it becomes worth it though. Around 3-4 gold per dreamfoil. Wont go any higher than that.
I enjoy the higher population because it allows you to pug things when you want to do so… The problem is that there is the increased population but they did nothing to address resources. Personally I think they just need to decrease the spawn timers on all herbs… Because it isn’t just black lotus that is a pain. At this point it is easier for me to farm dungeons for gold and buy mats, vs actually wasting the time trying to gather mats and compete against the bots.

I hate it because it has ruined every facet of the open world.
Not worth the trade off.
