They don’t want the classic experience.
They want the 10K pop private server experience. This is what most people base classic on, even though very little of it was 100% accurate.

This supports my point even further.
So essentially the loudest people gets to screw the game up for everyone. You’re aware that not everyone would be even registered to reddit? The only people that would even go out of their way to go to reddit, and to a lesser extend the forums, are those SAME elite minority flasking for speed runs, PVP, parses etc
The majority spoke and Blizzard agreed. The loud minority such as yourself will have to endure
Hello,
Over the past week I had been buying black lotus with the intention to sell as flasks, come AQ for 300G each.
However, due to an upcoming change that recently has been announced specifically with regards to lotus spawns. I have now lost the ability to recover such an investment.
I would therefore life to request that the 8 lotus I purchased be swapped back to the gold value i originally spent on them totaling $1860G.
I understand the volatility of the AH and risk that comes with trying to flip items for profit. However, this Hotfix although an improvement to quality of life for players was not in line with classics “No Changes” platform and has resulted in an unequal negative impact on players who invested substantial time to try and fight against the bots and gold farmers only to have now wasted all that time.
I therefore simply just ask that my original investment in the last week be returned to me.
Thank You
Wrong. The minority spoke and Blizzard agreed. There’s a difference. You’re the minority, not me lol.
Whew that sucks. Sorry about your bad investment. Good news is all future ones will be a lot cheaper!
I have no problem with these types of changes. In fact I think lot more people support positive changes like this, the vocal minority that screams nochanges is much smaller than it seems.
Now how about your get layers back on whitemane? The queue is out of hand, how did you think removing the layering was there? Did you forget about the people who stay logged in to avoid the queue when they stopped doing it?
Can I ask you why this change would be bettter than just straight up banning bots?
If you get rid of bots:
LEgitimate farmers might lose some value, but they dont have to compete against bots
Raiders obviously still get their flasks at a better price since theres no bots driving down supply
No changers are happy since they’re not actually changing anything
It also decreases queue times too! So other people benefit
Isnt this a much better compromise? Shouldnt we be asking Blizzard to suck it up and ban the bots instead and to actually enforce their TOS?
That was the route I thought made the most sense lol
THANK YOU!!
These are fantastic changes. The black lotus situation was completely out of control. appreciate you guys addressing it
the classic experience was 2500 player servers, not these 10,000-15,000 mega servers we have today.
The black lotus situation is in no way comparable to what it used to be like back in Vanilla, these changes will bring it closer and actually give non bots a chance
Something people cant seem to get. Even removing bots doesnt address the fact that servers are significantly bigger. This+Bot removal is a must
But my counter argument to that would then to reduce the server sizes to match that of vanilla. That way, the black lotus per capita remains to “Vanilla like” levels, BUT its actually MORE authentic since the server sizes would also match too.
Then there’s the issues of non-mega servers. These changes would also affect their economies as collateral damage. So since Blizzard is making these changes with mega servers in mind, should Blizzard also go to medium/low pop servers and mess with their economies too?
That’s sort of why there’s a lot of legitimate push back and why we should be second-guessing these changes
@Zejung those bots pay the same 15 bucks you do. Are you that dense to think that is the better course of action for them? The big wigs won’t allow that, blizzard has committed to the corporate sellout many years back if you haven’t noticed. You must really be heavily invested into abusing the scarcity of this resource in classic posting all day btw. Sorry about your loss but supply doesn’t match the server size, this is the only way. All your proposals of forced server transfers or banning bots doesn’t work. Bad for business and players, you can’t just break up guild. And if bots were that easy to get rid of, they wouldn’t be here. The botting developers are as sophisticated as the developers who make the game. It’s cat and mouse. The only people hurt by this were the people further manipulating the scarcity of this resource. It’s the smallest group and the best course of action consider by many. 300g a flask is nuts. 150 seems more reasonable.
That would definitely be the most effective change. I’m hopeful if they still see the problem, they can further implement that change. At least this shows they’ll do something, which adds risk on top of the new expense for gold farmers.
I agree with you. Thats why the need to actually make Blizzard accountable should instead be argued. If people are loud enough to make Blizzard change the black lotus spawn, Im sure if that same effort were to be used against bots, then theyd do it. The only reason why Blizzard doesnt do it is because people “tricked” or satisfied when they release bandaid solutions like this, but not the actual root of the problem.
Again, I dont have any black lotuses. However, Im still against the idea of making bad changes as a bandaid solution regardless of what they are.
In terms of bots vs developers, all Blizzard has to do is hire GMs and just consider it a cost of doing business. For all that time they used to think of this garbage solution and to implement it, they couldve just have used that same effort and time to actually banning bots
The response I got from customer service was to reach out to the Dev department to inquire if they could help.
“If you’d like some kind of compensation for your recent investments, only Dev would be able to make a decision and implement that kind of compensation.
You’ll want to use the Suggestion button or a forum topic and ask them to make that kind of a change.”
The change overall I think is positive, just feels bad as a resto shaman that spent all month trying to acquire gold and prep to have enough for raiding come phase 5. Only for it to be voided overnight.
People make mistakes and a gm deciding who is botting would be a nightmare. I won’t act as if I’m a programmer but I have many friends who took that career path and have been told it’s a cat and mouse game. If they were to wholesale ban the bots, the botting programmers would just find out how they were detected and make adjustments in their programming. They have to do it in waves to be effective. Also they lose a lot of money banning bots. Imagine losing 5-10% of your subscription revenue. If it was my business I don’t think the benefits outweigh the costs and I’m sure that could be substantiated with data. Bro quit beating a dead horse. No matter how much you post it’s not going to change anything. Go outside
edit:@zejung
From a “Business perspective” its also bad business to let bots ruin your brand and product. Good thing you’re not on a board of directors since you’re only blinded by short term gains
Do you know why AFK bots in AV are so much fewer now?
Because Blizzard actually bans bots if theres enough complaints! So we have seen it done in the past. So Blizzard is willing to ban bots despite it hurting their top line…but only as long as people complain loud enough about them.
From a business perspective, a game master costs ALOT less than a software developer. AND they get to actually increase their brand value by banning bots too!
Rofl telling me to go outside coming from a minmaxer. Okay pal. Just make sure you do too. Dont want you to have a heart attack if you parsed below 95
