Probably because people suspect that a High Elf fan is posting with an ulterior motive (such as villain batting, pushing corrupt themes so they can emphasize purity for themselves, etc) and not in good faith. Alternately a Blood Elf customization suggestion post from a Blood Elf fan is perceived as sincere since it directly affects the poster personally.
These are great, I definitely would love more Phoenix motifs, myself.
These would be of great service to Blood Elf players valuing an Undead aesthetic, so providing them with DK skintones across the board as well as red eye colorations would help.
Runic tattoos in golden orange to match their eyes would be great additions to represent their bond with the Sunwell.
Also a darker Crimson Blood Magic style to represent their darker themes which includes a proficiency with Blood Magic and works for an Undead/San’layn aesthetic too. They could use this as an eye color as well.
Tattoos, scars, etc. If we’re gonna name a thing “Teldrassil” after the burning of the night elves, the blood elves can easily get scarring called “Scourge” where they have undead claw marks in their body, or on their face.
Also should have gotten things like indentations in the skin like on BC box art. More hairstyles. Overall, more customization in general. All of the jewelry and nonsense we got is incredibly impractical, and says nothing about blood elf culture. Especially when there are so many better examples of it. Half of the jewelry female blood elves got looks like it would kill them if they got tackled to the floor with all the sharp edges on it in important places such as the neck.
Also, men didn’t even get jewelry options, which is incredibly lazy.
That’s actually a very good idea. Now that I think of it, Blood Elves are related to the Fire theme in a sense, right? The Sun, the Fire school of magic they allegedly excel at, etc.
Why not Fire themed options as well? Not sure if this is a good idea or not, just throwing out ideas in case someone likes them.
Personally, I would like more Light options for my Blood Elf Paladin, although I understand those others who don’t like them.
The most ‘urgent’ BE customizations, though, are Farstrider tattoos and runes. These are so iconic and yet Blood Elves are lacking them for some reason.
I agree with the rest of suggestions (more hairstyles, unisex jewelry, scars/make-up, more facial hair, etc.). Personally, I don’t think San’layn/Dark Rangers should be a Blood Elf customization option, as that would mean we’d have Dark Ranger Paladins somehow (?). I think it’s best for the Forsaken to receive those options, allowing you to choose whether you want a Human or Elf body. But that’s another story.
remember the light eyes? blood elves today are light elves
sanlayn are trash in the jailer’s service to give an example, Cannibal monsters that kill anyone even their supposed allies as they did when Sylvanas (probably because they were both minions of the jailer) let them into the horde.
Dark Ranger were the most loyal servants of Sylvanas, some may be able to change with the help of Calia. but if they do I prefer that they be forsaken customization, undeath is forsaken themed
I can’t recall many times a “Helfer” has suggested such ideas for Blood Elves without also asking for those ideas on Void Elves, or asking for a compromise for Void Elves.
Example: “Blood Elves should get runic tattoos and more jewelry, that way Void Elves can get natural hair colors while still maintaining racial visual distinction.”
It’s refreshing to see a Blood Elf customization thread without the mention of High Elves, though I guess that has now been shattered. I knew someone would probably mention it.
But that’s just a theory. Coffee?
I just wish we didnt have oversized hands and feet. Otherwise, fine as is. Oh, but make the jewelry more than 1980’s atari quality
I’d really like to see all the Blood Elf jewelry get more color options for both the metal and the gems, much like the Draenei females got with their hair adornments.
Honestly I’m not sure a belf could even sit up wearing the Phoenix necklace, it looks heavy.
I thought I had it on on my pally at the moment, but maybe not.
I’d like a few more practical (but elaborate) updos. It’s a shame that blood elves only got the night elf braid in the great hairstyle interchange, and not, for example, the cute double braid with bangs.
I’d love to see their jewelry be more mesh and fabric, like their decor. I’d also like the rune tattoos to look rather like the nightborn so they “pop” more, and have some separate scarification.
…in a perfect world, I’d also like the skinny male blood elf model. I know it’s a pipe dream, but surely some man in WoW must have wrists.
Maybe it’s hollow.
I would hope so, otherwise they would need chiropractors!
gotta develop them muscles for that bling bling.
I guess it was hard to make delicate looking jewelry for Blood Elves for some reason. So we get chunky and clunky.
I would also like to see a gold, silver, and bronze option for jewelry with diamonds and gems.
I don’t think it’s a matter of difficulty in making it, but a matter of Blizzard having a hard time accepting that you can make things detailed without making them oversized and chunky. It’s one of the reasons I really wish we had the option to scale the size of certain things like shoulder armor, weapons, shields/off-hands, etc. to at least a small degree (+/- 20%).
Blizzard just can’t seem to do “simple”. It’s always gotta be overblown/overdone/oversized.
The main things I want out of Blood elf customization are Runic, and Farstrider tattoos, braids, and for god sakes new face models for every race.
I like the arm bands a lot, but I can’t use them as much as I’d like because they only come in silver and gold.
The bracelets were going for a more delicate look, but are just painted on. The body jewelry that was scrapped was delicate looking without looking pixellated but the bracelet quality is so bad.
Says the individual posting on a Night Elf… the irony is abundant indeed.
Look dear, the only thing you need to do if you dislike the topic is… to not participate and ignore the thread? Pretty easy to do if I say so myself; i usually do that regarding the FF14 topic for example. Or LFR qq, or any other dead beat Horde in GD.
You may think you are cleverly making a jab… but fact is that yes, Belves in the official art HAVE scars (particularly in the face). And I rather have gotten those -who, as a lore fan speak to ME about the very event that made them change their former name and rename themseves BLOOD ELVES- than the ridiculous low quality “jewerly” we got and speaks NOTHING about what the Belf story is about.
Nice nod, but I personally don´t like some of them -the “void”, “Lightforged” and “darkfallen” requests are indeed pushing in the fairness department, those the Belves should never get becasue they canonly belong to the Velves (first case), Lightforged Draenei (second case) and the Forsaken (third case)-. Can the Belves get some golden colored general stuff that would imply some vague holy light manipulation? sure, but please let´s NOT call those “Lightforged”, cause that´s a false premise that actually belongs to an Alliance race.
In regards to suggestions proper, can you include some “Blood Magic” inspired stuff like mutations (remember the cute Felblood elf feathery wings from the Sunwell Plateau NPCs? Those could be explained as effects of Blood Magic “berserking” like the bulking on Orcs is explained by regular Blood Magic; also remember the old Blood Mages had an inclination towards Fel manipulation), red eyes, combined red/black auras? Also, a Helfer mentioned some phoenix inspired stuff, this could work too in regards to art design. Maybe a more Hordish"elemental" vibe to it? also, about hairstyles, I´d like some haircuts inspired in Troll and Orc haircuts (their punk inspired hairstyles would be a nice addition tbqh… also the more we share with the Horde aesthetics and deviate from traditional Alliance aesthetics, the better).
I think the above could work for ANY Blood Elf class (any time the Belves are depicted playing with Blood Magic in-game -like in the Nazmir invasions-, member from all the branchs of the military as shown in the place, so we could make it a “general” theme for them not merely a “Blood Knight only” or “Magister only”. Also, may I suggest we take the “injury options” from the “Blood Knight fantasy only?” Cause ANY elf regardless of military proficiency could get those. Lor´themar IS a ranger and look at his fancy scar.
