While I’m tickled pink about the new stuff for Lightforged and Nightborne (and… On board with the Highmountain stuff, but didn’t see anything that made me scream “GIMME”), you may recall my controversial opinions like, “Please stop giving void elves and blood elves the same things copy pasted with minimal modification.”
I’m a lot less pleased about the source of the hair colors and complete lack of anything actually new for void elves than I am with the other three.
But yeah. I’m hoping the other allied races get a sweep, and then they swing back around to the original races. And while pandaren, worgen and undead are my top “HELP THESE POOR CHILDREN”, blood elves definitely need some stuff.
It’s incredibly odd I guess to me the idea that BEs have to invent a new idea of Farstrider to accommodate… ? The race that’s two races in one and already stole all sense of any visual uniqueness Blood Elves had, not sure why they would be a factor on future additions to things that are inherently Blood Elf as Blood Elves deserve unique additions to their main theme.
Well hopefully you had a good weekend while I have a half mind to faction change my mage to a NB (I almost did it the last service sale but there was no indication NB were going to be worked on in any regard at the time) I also sort of refuse to engage while BE customization is in the state it’s in and my sub runs out soon so I’ll leave my final thoughts below.
Blood Elves deserve main additions to their main theme that are not shared like Farstrider tattoos, and Runic tattoos. I hope to see a visually distinct second set of options the same standard of RP tools given to VEs.
All races deserve heterochromia options if they don’t already have them or more variations if they do. For Blood Elves in particular this would add player agency on a small level to show eyes changing from green back to blue or to gold.
All races shouldn’t have locked accessories, this benefits Blood Elves as well in that our jewelry wouldn’t be locked, and any hypothetical tattoos we see wouldn’t be locked like they are on Night Elves.
I really can’t imagine why all races don’t have scars etc, but I’ll point out Blood Elves survived an apocalypse of undead for added effect / commentary on just them.
I would hope all human skin toned races that benefitted from some added diversity see that expanded on in varying ways, like added hair styles for one, and for two even just expanding the skin tone range added as well. Blood Elves for example got 4 added skin tones with what seems to be the added diversity deal they handed out to other human skin toned races. That’s 2 brown / olive skin tones and 2 black skin tones. To compare we have 14 skin tones and the other 10 are shades of white, we should be able to see that expanded on, people who aren’t white have various undertones too that it would be nice to see added. On a total side note I think there are ways to add diversity to non human skin toned races too like I know LFD fans have a cool concept in that regard, but I’m just commenting on what I see / can comment on I just wanted to throw that in here.
Not sure what has to be begged for when it’s quite literally Alleria only that has them. VEs have also been receiving customizations that allow them to look closer and closer to Alleria as well.
For example the blonde hair colors, I remember people thinking if new hair colors were added then blonde would be kept out due to “it is very blood elf hair color” (despite other races having it ofc).
What did Blizzard do? Bam, came out with several blondes and couple reds for VEs first , tends to show how they see the VEs as well.
To me it feels like you’re the one having to beg for “Farstrider tattoos” as again, the only existence of that style in WoW is on Alleria.
Mag’s survival icon photo is of the skill camouflage, aka trying to blend into the environment. Nothing about war paint is trying to blend in (Farstrider “tattoos” are really warpaint).
Every customization given to VE so far has brought them closer to looking like Alleria instead of the inverse.
That was made by I think Valarynn from Twitter? Again the entire page is fairly old and was made when advocating for a high elf AR. That was a modified idle stance to differentiate from Blood Elves, so yknow BE could keep their “visual uniqueness” as some put it.
We since know that Blizzard instead aims to and is content with simply giving high elf options to both Blood Elves and Void Elves instead of creating an entirely separate high elf AR.
Hopefully we get some unique stuff. I also push for Velves who want to still look like Velves to get the customizations they asked for too. They were forgotten in all of this.
I know earlier I almost auto liked this post from you but since I’ve been logged in for awhile I myself have muted a whole lot of threads and my ignore list is growing larger as well so now I totally get where you was coming from when you wrote this.
I relate to this as well but I have no regrets there given if people are going to be annoying I’m going to ignore them and mute the spam threads because I mean sure I get people are excited about new customizations because I’m excited about new Nightborne options but I don’t feel the need to make my own thread to indirectly be like oh my gosh pay attention to me. Lol.
So Void Elves were able to turn into High Elves somehow while hijacking literally every customization BElves had (i.e. alliance got a free race) — so are we getting our vampiric Blood Elves w/ red eyes and such?
Getting options for Dark Ranger and San’layn is one of the hopes.
Though many differ on how they want those things implemented.
For instance I want the San’layn to be an AR so they have their own racials, classes, heritage, tabard, and mount. I feel like they are enough removed from the Blood Elves and Forsaken to warrant such a step.
Dark Rangers however I want as Blood Elf customization though I’ll take it as a Forsaken toggle. I prefer the Dark Ranger options be given to Blood Elves both for the ease of implementation and because it would effectively give us a second “race” just like Void Elves have. Evening things out a little bit.
