My character does not have a British accent either. I think they were trying to make Lorthemar have a high society accent, not really British. Because he’s a regent lord.
Eh this is something I really disagree with entirely. It’s all up to the character. Magic type 100% doesn’t matter. Just how someone wielding the light isn’t 100% auto-good, because the light isn’t inherently good unlike many thing, the void isn’t 100% inherently bad. Both primordial powers are selfish and want control. It’s up to the wielder to determine whether they are good or not like any other magic.
By this logic, no Lightforged Draenei can be lawful good either, void elves are the same thing but on the other side of the coin, and the coin is made of the same material.
All up to the character and what they do with their abilities.
well have you done the void elf quest chain? i think what we’re supposed to be is kinda loopy but in control of it, sorta like a person with a disease they keep under control via medicine or meditation. sorta like the helfs of outlands, mana tapping draenei artifacts to keep from using fel, as all thalassians have a magical addiction disease.
Sure you can RP a character however you wish, but I’ll stand firm in saying void elves, especially a warlock, would not be considered lawful good. Maybe I’ve played too much D&D.
Regardless, the alignment chart doesn’t really apply in Warcraft, as there’s too much black and white and not enough nuance.
D&D stuff I enjoy but that’s one part of it I utterly can’t stand. Morality varies between people. Me butchering evil entities would auto-make me ‘evil’ even if I protect the innocent, for example, and kill only bad guys. By my moral standards, it isn’t wrong at all. By the moral standards of people who think you should kill under no circumstance, it’s ‘wrong’.
Those alignments, to me personally, are way too cut and dry and lack nuance entirely.
oh lol i play my warlock as much as a mage as i can get it. like i dont use demons, just the void pet.
Anyway I wish there was a truly evil faction because I would play that. I wish there were faction exclusive raids for evil or good characters. I wish I could quest as a character who revels in destruction and chaos. Phaeliea doesn’t want to be a hero. She wants to do as she pleases.
and i’m almost the opposite. lol in my heart, at least. lol
I think games are too focused on your character being good, that they sacrifice interesting personal choice. FFXIV and WoW both suffer from this, as we are heroes in both.
I like playing antiheroes myself. Those that will do what it takes to protect the innocent… no matter how dark. “We do what the living cannot” is my favorite saying (Yes I’m a gigantic Ebon Blade fan!). I personally hate the faction war and wish we had neutral options though x.x or a quest path to focus exclusively on my task. Which is to protect Azeroth and the innocents on it.
Especially from the scourge which is rampaging right now -.-
And you can comfortably RP as such, I can’t really do that as someone who wants to revel in chaos and evil. I keep going back to EQ in my comparisons but the game was actually harder if you were an evil aligned character and the tension was thrilling.
On this one I would want to be good but only because as I have said many times I like to see myself and play as a Holy Warlock but on everyone else like Undead Warlock, Goblin Warlock, etc. that doesn’t fly as much because the evil would be overwhelming.
True, I’m definitely not opposed to more options for everyone. granted everyone pitches a fit when my undead actually have personalities and the desire to aid even though it’s entirely in the lore that it depends on the person for how much personality they keep/how undeath affects them.
That said, yeah lore-wise and by quest standards my alignment is easy to play. Yours would not be. Siding with Sylv kinda gave that option but they definitely didn’t let you pick anything or face any sort of consequence. But a different evil path in general would be cool.
My concern is that if they added an ‘evil’ faction, every race on there, people would argue ‘nope can’t be good just strictly evil’ without nuance, because factions are poison ><
All of my toons except Luminea, my Paladin, are evil. It’s just more fun
Which is why factions should be abolished. The fighting would mostly end if everyone could play with everyone. Keep the cities somewhat off limits, maybe. Like, have a rep grind to be able to visit them. Once you do you can go to any city as you wish, and raid and group with who you want.
i played that again in the last five years on project 1999. my leveling partner was an iksar necro of all things lol helped that i was a high elf cleric who could rez for 92% or some such and had a high level druid who could port to neutral druid rings. also helped that his pets were amazing and could tank 3 cyclopses at once…lucky duck
I am so down with this it’s unreal. I really hope to see this someday. In my personal opinion, it would make the game so much better.
Yeah I think this one makes a ton of sense. Plus, you could get access to the other races’ mounts too this way.
But yeah, totally agree with this.
It’s honestly the best way to do it. It would keep the leveling experience relatively the same, but you could be queued with anyone in dungeons. Once you gain access to foreign reputations, say Stormwind, you can earn reputation with them slowly over time, eventually being welcome. That way they don’t have to change too much. They could just flag them with the Hostile reputation to start.
Yes, I love this tons. I hope they see that sometime, because it’s the most logical approach. Oh, and neutral guilds as well.
I had the idea of putting in a ‘faction mode’ which is like war mode but you’d never be grouped with the opposite faction and get a phase where you would not see people on other factions in your cities.
Q: BUT FALLS NO ONE WOULD USE THAT PHASE!!!
A: Think that’s therefore a sign that most don’t want factions then isn’t it?
the big problem i see with this is the automated lfg tool, would forcefully pair people from different factions who may resent that idea and then you get people quitting the game because they keep getting booted for having lackluster racials.
