Anyone who tries to put Blood Elves into one specific box when they’re a rather diverse culture for wow is doing them a disservice.

I like to point out they’ve got three major themes.

Magisters, Farstriders and Blood Knights.

As well as several Sub Themes.

Dark Rangers and San’layn (Sort of anyways.), Blood Magi, Pheonix’s, Felblood Elves (Also a sort of.), and I’m probably forgetting one or two others.

Thats a lot to work with, and yet Blizzard decided to work off of vapid jewelry as their main customization… and then didn’t apply it to males.

I know that Kael’thas family had a link to Pheonix’s so I can see some of that being… regretted but for the most part I think blood elves would still hold Pheonix in high regard anyway.

Plus it can be used in so many ways. Fiery, Light, heck they could probably make a fel green one and still have that be significant.

More eye colors between what we have now just gives us a lot of variability.

However it also lets us RP a blood elf in transition from the fel radiation to “cleansing” from the Sunwell.

All good I think.

And orange is just a nice color. :smiley:

Earlier today Somand and Lance were kind enough to work out some new ones too. Very nice.

As if Void Elves didn’t get a second visual theme at the expense of Blood Elves, work done during the time core races were the focus, a second pass that solidified the last of any sense of uniqueness for Blood Elves was now gone, and still people bring them up as being the ones who got the short end of the stick.

Blood Elves got the short end of the stick, Void Elves have two visual themes and retain their own uniqueness as one of them, I don’t understand why Void Elves are taking a second of attention in this thread but maybe someone could explain it to me in terms that make sense please mention the thread title too in the answer just so I can grasp the sentiment.

The Eastern Kingdom´s novel written in-universe by Mathias literally tells us the Belves are caring for both the phoenix hatchling AND Kael´s hawkstrider. It´s actual canon lore, their link to Kael didn´t diminish their spiritual and cultural importance.

Ranger Captain Areiel has orange-y eyes in Howling Fjord. Dark Ranger Alina too sports less “blood red” and closer to orange eyes. Dark Ranger Kalira sports borderline yellow eyes in Icecrown (lul, it seems there´s a pattern here: for some reason they Dark Ranger cameos on Northrend sport yellow to orange eye colors).

Already checked and gave upvote in your thread, some VERY good mockups.

Not so much themes as their main military organizations, though the Belves became VERY military oriented after the zombie apocalypse -why do you think they match so good with the Horde?-.

Brack et al, nuff said. The lingerie body jewerly was a freaking given, Fen. We dodged a HUGe bullet back there.

There´s no mockups available for this -and I´m pretty sure FHM Human Trigger will complain and accuse me of robbing her ideas or something-, so I´ll post some Ombré ideas following the phoenix color pattern (I hope this doesn´t bit me in the proverbial butt, Fen. I´ll take the risk as you suggested but I may have to be prepared regardless):

Now, out to think a way to “implement” phoenix eyes… maybe using the color scales put above and going from lighter to darker color from the pupil outwards (think a reverse on the human eye, in the human eye the “dark” pupil is center and the ligher iris + sclera are out. In the phoenix eyes it would be in reverse).

FEN!!! Idk if it´s feasible, but could you please ask Lance or Somand to have a go at this idea?

I might make a trip out there later to look again. Been a long time since I’ve gone to wrath for leveling.

Fair enough. It’s how I group them when I think on it. Really just means arcane, nature/rangery and lightish.

I can absolutely try.

I feel bad asking them without compensating them for their work.

Is there a particular one of the colorations you want to see?

Oh, nonono!!! Just please let them now about the idea and if they feel like wasting time on it is good, if not, is good too -as you mention, I kinda barely make enough gold to buy the monthly token, as shameful as it sounds to compesate them for their work is out of question for me-.

I´m aware this phoenix eyes are waaay more complext than resizing N´zoth / C´Thun eyes and putting them on the Velf/Belf model.

Btw, thank you for posting the ombré examples (now we just have to see what Fallynn et al think about them).

I´m just waiting for the other shoe to drop tbqh -ombré though in a different pattern to “flame” styles were proposed first by the paladin female in the Velf thread. She may get VERY annoyed (and I suppose, with good reason) we are exploring this know in here, who knows-.

Talking about phoenix stuff, I think you made some phoenix classification in your tattoo list, yes? /checks info

For Blood Elves or is this part of the earlier conversation trying to give more attention to Void Elves in this thread?

I’m refraining from giving feedback on a race that doesn’t need attention at this immediate moment, because unlike BEs they at least retain their own visual uniqueness despite the complaints their added options weren’t additions to their main theme they were impactful and the fact they retain their original theme is a win when you consider thats what some BE fans asked for.

Belves, Lann. I don´t particularly remember being pro Dark Ranger for Velves nor anything as remotely stupid as such idea. My last two posts has been about playing with the phoenix theme for Belves as far as the feedback given by Fallynn et al.

Please, however woman denies that she didn´t crush even a little bit for the weeping monk is a lying liar who lies.

Helves weren´t precisely a “Velf” theme either Brae, so /shrughs

I rather we keep SEVERAL venues possible to make that RP tool possible instead of campaigning for something way harder to implement like a Belf model toggle model on the Forsaken one. Especially when the Forsaken were ones of the worse in regards to customizations, literal barebones treatment.

Same as Dartk Ranger dude… if you people believe honest to God that the devs are gonna implement those as separate AR when they didn´t even bother with Wildhammer, let me with all due respect /ROFL at you.

I know, but then again you are aware it´s a borderline dream at this point.

People trying to prevent this cause “muh Forsaken” will literally only screw us harder in the long term when devs get the perfect excuse about a Belf model toggle on the Forsaken costing us a raid tier or something.

If people nor servers did NOT collapse when they saw Golden eyed Warlocks runing rampant on their RP realms, then I´m absolutely sure they won´t collapse either at watching a Pally using red eyes and a slightly whiter skin than normal (heck, are we 100% sure most Pally players will run to portray a “Dark Ranger / San´layn”? Cause I doubt so, they at the most will pick the red eyes and go on their merry way to play their Blood Knight with totally intended puns at their heart´s content).

Neither should be on BE’s.

They have 0 relation to them other then where the corpses came from.

I am pretty sure forsaken players see you guys with that same respect. Just remember they they at least flush the toilet.

And the forums would be flooded with salty forsaken players that BE’s stole their theme and they could play undead paladins but not them.

This I agree.

Disagree, model toggles on forsaken can open up many opportunities then dark rangers on blood elves, as well as avoid more bad looks on blizz taking the lazy way out. Again.

And they wonder why the player base is leaving…

I am pretty certain customization has little to do with raid content even on the resource side of things.

That’s a definite relation.

Forsaken players have been asking for things like straight backs and skeletal forms. I don’t see too much of a push for Dark Rangers to be Forsaken than from Helfers for some reason.

Yeah… no.

Because most believes dark rangers should be an AR or become a forsaken customization as a given fact. As in they feel no reason to ask for it thinking it should be theirs without having to ask for it since 100% of the dark ranger story is forsaken.
