I played alliance in vanilla BC (quit the game when wrath came out). My buddy and I rolled Horde this time for a new experience. Huge mistake!
At level 70, the population disparity is atrocious. BG wait times are killing our interest in gearing for arena. I respect the ideology that tries to keep things close to TBC original, but we desperately desperately need a paid service to switch factions.
Our of all the options I would prefer faction changes to Merc mode or something.
How it’s implemented I don’t know. Only horde to alliance allowed? Paid?
There are some people that genuinely didn’t know this was going to be an issue and are now stuck, however there are lots of people that knew this was going to happen and still want somebody to fix it for them.
what about if they allowed horde vs horde or ally vs ally if queue times exceed a certain time in queue? 10 minutes for example, it would keep ally queue times where theyre at now since it would prioritize horde vs ally, then after 10 minutes in queue it would allow you to queue into other people from your same faction.
Blizzard is legit salivating at the thought of a paid faction transfer. It will make them look like they care about the game while also extracting a ridiculous amount of money from a problem they literally helped create. Alliance never should of been allowed to mass xfer in phase 2 that directly led to huge population disparities on every pvp server. BGs should have been released at the start of phase 2 so the mass alliance gank fest never happened in the first place.
That’s one idea, but I suspect it would be a much more difficult solution to implement, and a little too far from original.
Someone above mentioned they’d pay $60. I’d pay much more than that, just to get a 70 and two 60’s swapped (pvp server, so they all have to go or be deleted).
Third solution is to open up more account boosts. Not ideal, but better than nothing.
Here is what you can do. Open a new account. Roll an alliance player. Keep playing your horde player. Que on your horde account. While you are waiting in a Que and not able to pvp, Use that down time to level your alliance player. then when the que pops on your horde player you can pvp. Keep doing this and eventually your alliance player will be lvl 70 and you will have essentially done a faction change.
Cancel your horde account and it only cost you 15 dollars isntead of the 60 that you were willing to pay.
Or, since you were willing to pay 60, u could get the 2nd account for 15, pay for a boost, another 40. That is still 55 dollars total and you were willing to pay 60.
Unless ofcourse the que times are exaggerated and you really don’t even mind at all anyway. But you have a solution.
i dont think ally saying that is going to have the effect that they want it to. because now horde are just running around actually going back to phase 2 killing everyone they see for honor again rofl.
They should just jump ahead a few years and add the rated bg(10v10) template to the tbc arena system. Instead of Arena currency you just get much greater honor rewards, marks and a cosmetic only CR to show more appeal.
Every so-called solution presented so far only made the H:A ratios worse.
We’d need real change, like the private servers do. Supermassive benefits for playing Alliance. Apparently, getting to do battlegrounds is not enough.
There would have to be some sort of conversion of faction-rewards/reputation mapping done. I suspect a lot of that was done for later versions, but item stats, rewards, etc. that may have been faction-unique may also have changed to accommodate this.
One example I can think of is the Alliance only quest that awards Bonebiter. Which of course, wouldn’t be applicable to Horde to Alliance transfers, but for Alliance to Horde, might have an impact on level 39 twinking.
Not that I care about that particular example, it’s just one that comes to mind. There may be others, and they may be more impactful. At the very least, they would need to be considered in detail in order to be worked into the design of how faction change would work for TBC.
Right now queing as alliance is soul crushing, Horde send half their team to Galv and force turtles to make the game as long as possible and as unfun for the alliance as possible. No wonder most alliance don’t bother playing when their opponent behave this way. I only que because honor is needed to do arenas. As soon as my honor set is finished, I won’t que anymore and your queues will get even worse.
If you want lower que times make the game more fun for your opponents. Stop sending 20 horde to Galv. BASE RACE us, more alliance will que and we’ll BOTH get better HPH as we both burn towers and flip a coin flip as to who kills the boss first.
Considering how much people erupted into rage over 1 mount from a collector’s edition…imagine what would happen if there was free transfers, mounts, bags, free respecs for alliance only.
