Population #'s I’ve seen show total U.S. faction balance somewhere around 55 vs 45% favoring Alliance, is PvP just extremely unpopular among Alliance players?? If realms are connected for BGs why are the horde queues 15 minutes?? I know it’s classic but this is still 2021 and your playerbase is a bunch of boomers with jobs. This just incentivizes AFKing and botting tbh. Gotta come up with a solution for queues or faction balance Blizzard.
Give horde more honor per win to compensate, or give Alliance a gold bonus at the end of a match based on time spent or kills etc. something to keep it competitive and get them queueing??
You can say this all you want, but the vast majority of people interested in PvP went Horde - the community was already there in retail, the knowledge of blatantly OP racials was well known in vanilla, and the Horde continue to have some of the best PvP racials even with the nerfs and arena making some Alliance racials better.
Sorry, but you still have to have a disadvantage for playing the far more populated faction for PvP. Everyone but you saw this coming.
All of the Hardcore PvP types went Horde for TBC. The Alliance has a healthy population for sure, but very few really invested PvPers. The first 2 weeks or so of TBC you’ll have slightly faster queues as the Alliance normies all fill out their welfare honor sets. But a month into TBC you better be prepared for 30min queue times, if not more. And everyone match you zone into will be an Alliance premade.
Edit: on Pservers they solved this problem by letting Horde queue into Horde. Or by giving Alliance like a 3x experience and 3x reputation multiplier and free dual spec lmao.
What does that have to do with anything?? It’s still a problem that any GOOD developer would find a solution for.
They do the “mercenary mode” thing on retail but it really doesn’t feel like a classic spirit solution to allow people to just pretend to be the other faction. Maybe they could just call it “skirmish mode” instead and I guess you just pretend you’re war-gaming, but that still makes the racial interplay less interesting.
I think providing Alliance players with more incentives at the end of a BG (like gold or even a small world buff), or giving Horde players more honor for their extra time wasted in queue (so that Horde who are only doing BGs for rewards stop queueing quicker), or both, is a solid step.
Coming from someone who picked their horde race due to absolutely broken hitboxes that’ll allow you to keep healers in combat and deal damage while simultaneously maintaining LoS.
This is just untrue. There are a ton of benefits to ally racials in high end arena, even in beta tournaments right now lifelong horde players are going prio ally for a bunch of matchups. Maybe the problem is a knowledge and bias one.
This is correct. BUT this is not the general perception. 99% of people BELIEVE that the Horde is the only faction to play if you want to PvP. Whether it’s true or not becomes irrelevant - the belief is all the matters. Everything is speculative in life these days. The Horde PvP dominance is a self-actualized illusion. Whether Humans and Gnomes also have OP racials is irrelevant if all of the PvPers went Horde “for PvP”.
Stealth perception advantage in rogue matchups for first sap in a meta where matches are extremely short. NE drinks (this may not work in TBC-C I don’t actually know), stoneform priests actually PoG as hell. Gnome melee especially early on where it’s caster dominant and you can’t afford to sit a nova etc.
A high stun resist chance is also very good against anything with a stun, especially one reliant on them. Dwarf racial was also heavily nerfed for PvP, and add on an AoE silence and the ability to break and immune Fear/Sleep/Charm which does hose several classes…
Alliance have benefits and decent racials. It’s just on another level with horde racials, its not even comparable without having to compare it to WotLK EmfH.
On top of this, if any racials will see nerfs it might be alliance racials that will. Despite being the strongest class in all of pvp in TBC by leagues, rogues are crying harder than any other class about the human racial and the goggles that are available later.
If this was even 0.1% true, we’d see pvp populations at least SOMEWHAT close to 50/50 instead of this 90/10 crap that exists right now with a likely 95/5 ratio for arena. There’s a reason why Undead and BE and even Tauren are much better for racials.
This is because their racials will see action almost every arena match and get value in every arena match.
I choose NE Restokin over Tauren literally any day. Warstomp just DRs with my rogue’s stuns anyway. I love Shadowmeld Drinking. It’s literally game winning. More often than Warstomp for sure. I have 3 extra levels of stealth in catform. And the smaller hitbox is lovely. A Tauren Warrior can’t crit me for 3k through a pillar on my Night Elf. Sap bug sucks, but it’s not as prevalent in TBC because of the absence of Shadow Dance.
Human Mage/Lock/Priest will be a very dominant 3vs3 comp and 100% gladiator viable. Gnome warriors are very good, too. Especially in 2vs2 where their healer might not have a magic dispel (Rshaman/Rdruid).
Not to say that Horde racials aren’t better. They are - objectively. But Human and Gnome have strong options and NE druid is absolutely the better PvP option. No question.
This is the reality of FotM faction with racials that are 10 times better than the other faction. It’s reality…ticking down by the second. Every time you say X alliance racial is good, those seconds keep ticking down showing you how effective your opinion is.
