BG forums lounge (Part 1)

I’d say both, but lean more heavily towards the culture.

I think people get offended very easily about unrealistic expectations.

It’s beta, it was a stress test. It seems like people decided that none of those words existed and read/heard “early access” and are now offended by something made up in their heads.

It makes it terribly hard these days to take anyone seriously. From toxic masculinity to pronouns, just pick one, there’s one for every occasion rather like a Hallmark card…people are screaming and raging about some topic in ridiculous fashion.

I’m old. I don’t get it.

I’m in my mid 20s and I don’t get it. I think its just a small sect of society that outrage culture comes from. Its too complex an issue to understand IMO.

I think it’s just a small sect of very loud people.

Only a small percentage of people use the internet as a sounding board.

Among those (us included), there’s a percentage (probably small) that are very loud about their outrage.

And among that small group, are the loudest people who just complain and demand like children.

Overall, I think it’s just a very loud group of people that seem larger than they are.

And then we incorrectly extrapolate that number into = the majority and think everyone is complaining.

The only problem with the small sect is that they are listened to. Why? I have no idea, but they are. Twitter gets twisted panties and everyone (politicians, actors, musicians, etc) can’t apologize fast enough, change things fast enough, make policy fast enough, fire someone fast enough…

This is pretty close to how I feel about it. This is the first beta/alpha/stress test that actually felt like a beta/alpha/stress test. Usually that term is code for free marketing demo.

I am just glad to see the devs having fun and interacting with the players.

The last time I remember devs being silly and fun like this was for a brief moment in I think it was the mop beta when Bajheera was doing arena against a dev team and they paused the fight to make their character models huge. Bajheera just laughed and smiled ear to ear as two 30 yard tall giants were fighting in the arena.

Before that it was the wrath pre launch event and I remember some players getting upset about it.

Things like the players getting put into the gm island prison and interrogated was hilarious and fun stuff that really doesn’t exist now.

That was a blast. People got miffed about that?

Spawning boss mobs at BC launch in capitol cities…those were the days.

Oh yes, everyone logging in, the game chat flooded with all the new achievements people were “earning” and then being swarmed by zombies and dying.

Do GMs even do the GM rp chat thing anymore? I haven’t GM chatted since…actually it’s been so long I can’t even recall when it was!

My personal favorite of that whole debacle was the classic forum with people posting fake code.
‘5/22 19:14:07.480 Initial Hotfixes: Received
5/22 19:14:07.480 Initial Hotfixes: Fake Connect’

‘QoS.Profile.BetaStreamers
set MaxConcurrentSessions = 5
set LoginQueue = ‘Priority’
QoS.Profile.StressTestScrubs
set MaxConcurrentSessions = 0
set LoginQueue = ‘Simulated’’

People took that bait so fast. Too funny.
Buddies and I were never able to get into servers but we came in very late.

No. Sadly, they did away with the in game chat support. That’s why half of your tickets are more automated now and seems like they only halfway read your inquiry.

It’s the rage thing. People want to be mad about anything. I can’t help but see it akin to the boy who cried wolf. They whinge so much about everything, no one will listen when there is something to be outraged over.

I think a lot of it was anger they could not log in but can watch other people in and having fun. Being special playing with GMs. Jealousy is an ugly thing even when other people got in fairly or with luck. They would just jump on anything after.

Had no scrubs in my head all night because of that post.

Right, it’s lame. I had to try and post a ticket to tech support a few months ago, and the process was so out there with the comp logs they wanted to even SUBMIT, I said screw it and didn’t bother.

Shame they did away with the GM support in game.

The in-game chat support was the best. I always got any issue I had resolved. The ticket system is a total joke. If you mention this in the Customer Support forum, white knights will tell you that this new system is FAR better than what we had. Something about “people not knowing what they need, just thinking they know” or some other rubbish.

I miss being able to speak to a live GM. One major CON to the company cutting down on indirect labor.

Standard procedure, everyone knows cutting costs is the fastest way to more profits. It’s why this game runs on a fluffy “cloud” now.

It’s def not better, by any stretch.

“People not knowing what they need” sounds like condescending pc speak for “Just shut-up and give us money”.

It works well in standardized companies, usually ones that have repeatable product. Companies like this, it’s reflecting in the quality of their products

You could rp chat back in forth for a few good minutes as well. Even if they couldn’t help you with a problem you still felt like they tried and you were ok.

Before they put in time limits on bgs there was this rogue that cheesed his way up on top of the alliance base and we couldn’t get to him. I opened a ticket and it took them around 45 min to respond but we were still in game. It was hilarious seeing the gm rp trash talk the cheating rogue in a private message to me. He teleported the rogue to a few feet in front of me and killed him and the flag auto returned. Then the rogue left the bg. The gm said he wouldn’t be back for a few days.

The gm never broke rp character the whole time. I laughed hysterically at the whole thing.

You have to keep escalating the issue until you get a real GM. Just keep marking it as not resolved and someone will come to help you asap.

I had to escalate my thread 3 times before I got this response. Everyone else said what I wanted was not possible.

Game Master Whilanzei here, I hope things are going well for you, thanks for taking time out of your day to reach out to us.

I see that you’d like to see if it’s possible to de-level your character you wanted to stay at 110, I’ll gladly look into this situation for you today.

I honestly haven’t had a request like this in a number of years, I had to review and reread the policy on this a few times.

Seeing as there hadn’t been any profession rank ups and that no other quests that couldn’t be done at the appropriate level I was able to roll you back the level and lock it for you so that this doesn’t happen again unless you wanted XP gains.

Should you need further assistance please reach out to us again at your earliest convenience.
