to be honest bfa not bad but bc and wrath and cata and mist where kida better in my opinion
One thing i’ve noticed is (azerite armor in 8.0 aside) people’s reception to BFA is mostly dependent on how they feel about:
Allied races
Lore
I love allied races, they totally rejuvenate the game for me, and i have been hoping for a Zandalar expansion or a Kul’tiran/sea expansion for a long, long time. We got both!
And i actually love warfronts, i wish they had made the 3rd one. I also enjoy islands! Call me crazy…
Incredibly fun expansion for a lot of us, we just don’t make bellular videos about it and be negative on the forums.
I think criticism of the poor execution of azerite armor is super valid, though.
Overall, disregarding salt, there were really only two serious problems with BFA. One, bad story and writing and two, excessive grind leading to massive alt unfriendliness and feeling like you were at a second job.
The raids and dungeons were good, the zones were good, lots of content. You could quibble about other things like Corruptions messing with PVP and imbalance but I feel only two things smacked you in the face every day (story + grind).
Obviously not their best expansion by a long shot but its not a 0/10 like all the ragers and loonies think.
excessive pruning, class design and gcd really held it back
also island expeditions were terrible… battle fronts were not what anyone thought they’d be…
Found myself incredibly disappointed and i didnt even have reasonable standards.
Whole xpac was a beta test
OP can you give us your expansion ranks? I want to see where BFA falls within the 7 expansions.
Above average by definition means it is better than at least half of the expansions. In my opinion, it definitely is not the worst as that dishonor goes to WoD (or as I call it Waste of Dollars), but its the second worst expansion. Every expansion besides those two dumpster fires had much better character progression and content.
Wrath
TBC
Legion
MoP
Cataclysm
WoD
So BFA has to be better than MoP? Eh, no.
i mean its
tbc
wrath
cata
then mist
all other are garbage
I put Legion above BFA and WoD. It had the potential to dethrone WotLK as the best expansion but the fatal flaw was putting your last abilities and passives behind a legendary RNG and artifact power wall. You had part of your spec missing until the game decided it was time to let you play the completed spec.
For the purpose of scoring how good the expansion was, I think we can safetly divide it into 2: 8.0 and 8.1 on one side, 8.2 and 8.3 on the other side.
8.0 and 8.1 are clearly below average in terms of content quality and they’re basically dragging the score donw to average/above average.
8.2 was heavily packed with quality content and it is probably one of the best patches in wow’s history with its 2 new zones, bunch of dailies, the essence system, raid and mega dungeon. 8.3 wasn’t as packed as 8.2 but it hits close. These 2 alone can easily match legion scores.
i think arthas was the best bad guy ever made
If the first patch is bad then many won’t come back until maybe the next expansion. I’m one of those that quit in 8.0 BFA trying out Shadowlands.
BFA was lackluster, not the worst expansion. However, what pushed it over the top and the only expansion I just straight stopped playing was corruption in PvP.
I love PvP, and corruption was just horrible.
i think we need the pvp in pvp no just npc that are just boring to kill and have no idea how to fight hell island was fun but you need a group to do that and it hard to find people who want to do that pvp and bgs are fun but what made wod fun look at the 100 vs 100 people that was fun as heck
I’d say it was the 2nd from the worst expansion.
That being said … Even when WoW is bad it’s better than the overwhelming majority of its competition.
I think the consensus was that it was a pretty low mediocre expansion.
The 1st patch is nearly always kind of janky or downright bad though.
Heck, MoP was awesome and its first patch was awful. Legion’s first patch was pretty bad due to some of the systems, and WoD was nothing but a first patch.
Quitting for the entire expansion during the first patch is silly because it nearly always improves a lot in the x.2 patch.
i mean look who old republic and ff14 does there games they make millions and people love it wow is just bland now and nothing more a shell of it former self
I don’t know about TOR, but to me FFXIV is very Bland. (And I played FFXIV since ARR too)
