Could NOT figure out to leave a ticket for this so here goes:
Long time subscriber here, but really a part time player if that. My last expansion purchased was Battle For Azeroth. I have no interest in exploring either Shadowlands or Dragonflight nor the upcoming expansion War Within. No reason, but I’d rather just stay at Battle for Azeroth. Currently at level 50. My issue is this:
I inadvertently clicked on the Shadowlands intro which took me through a series of opening events. Unbeknownst to me, that initiated my progression to level 60 (currently level 50). I had no idea that Shadowlands was free and didnt know that i would progress to Shadowlands without ever having purchased it.
I don’t want this.
Can you restore my account back to before Shadowlands completely so that I’m capped at 50 and not gaining any experience toward 60 please. Again, I have no interest in playing or experiencing Shadowlands or Dragonflight. Nor gaining any experience past Battle for Azeroth. I really, really, really do not want to level anymore or experience Shadowlands or any other expansion past Battle for Azeroth. DO NOT.
Anyone know if this can be resolved or is this a lost cause. Trying to submit a simple ticket under Blizzard in-game submission, is a exercise in futility.
Thanks all
That would not be possible. Everyone plays on the same game client. You are only stopped traveling into the newest expansion if you have not purchased it (barring free trial days that Blizzard sometimes has).
You would be best served by turning off your experience gains and also visiting Chromie in your faction’s capital city. She will be located near each city’s Embassy. You can then choose the Battle for Azeroth timeline from Chromie.

Yes, and do that before you do anything else, because if you do level up, that cannot be undone. GMs cannot “de-level” a character.

No, I’m sorry, Xsythe, but that is simply not possible. As Kyzera mentioned everyone plays on the same client and the has the “Base” game. With every expansion we usually bring the base game up.
I’m sorry to hear that. I rather enjoyed Shadowlands though Dragonflight has been amazing and fun through and through, but I understand, you have your niche and you are happy with it. As suggested, you can turn off experience gain at an NPC located in the major city for your faction.
We cannot remove levels though, so if you move beyond level 50 we’ll be unable to assist.
Generally speaking, the option to submit a ticket is reserved for issues that we can assist with. Taking away content isn’t something our staff is able to do.

BFA world content and normal dungeons will scale with you up to level 60 now, so you can still keep doing those at level until you pass 60.

Sort of. Everything in the main BFA zones will scale up to 60. But the “endgame” zones and raids (Mechagon, Nazjatar, N’zoth invasions, horrific visions) stop at 50.
As the others are saying, you can continue to do BFA past 50. We now have a thing called Chromie time that makes all old expansions stay scaled to your level up to 61. Chromie can be activated in your main faction city, Orgrimmar or Stormwind. However BFA is currently the default leveling xpac so theres no need to activate chomie time to have continued level scaling thru level 60. Once at 60 if you dont have Dragonflight you’ll still have the level scaling in BFA just no experience gains past 60. Also most of the contnent in BFA is locked until 60 anyway so id recommend getting to 60 if you want to experience that. Once The War Within starts Dragonflight will be the default leveling experience so im not sure how that will affect BFA scaling.

The default levelling experience only applies to new players. Once you have levelled one character to 60, you can do Chromie Time and pick ANY expansion for levelling on future ones.
Old expansions only go above their level cap when using Chromie Time. When you exit that, the old expansions revert to their normal level cap. BFA is in a weird spot right now because they don’t want new players going through Shadowlands, so half of BFA scales to 60, and the other half to 50. I assume this will change when War Within comes out and Dragonflight becomes the default.

This was changed in 10.1.7. Now chromie time is available to new players with no restrictions.
