Not good at all. I don’t even have 100 mounts. I was trying for them before RL removed me from playing for a while. Heck I have been trying for the Headless Horseman mount for years and it still hasn’t dropped for me.
Are you seriously going to try and compare farming ICC, Firelands, ToT, or BRF … and Islands???
Oh right… I recognize your name. Of course you are. No rational person would begin to equate those old raids to IEs, but … of course you would.
I’d love to see a poll on that. 95-5, margin of error 5 pts?
Hey Bornakk! Is there a sekrat mount quest like my shadow unicorn in BfA? We had a goat pet questline and a pet ghost girl(?). Didn’t notice a mount one this xpac.
Or are just the two “raise the hungry (expensive food) runaway-rescue dinos” considered questline mounts for this xpac?
Those were fun though. Even if I kept forgetting to go see them.
I’m not sure on that one, I got the mount from my very first Ankoan paragon chest and I’ve heard a lot of reports of the same. It could just be good luck of course but I think they seriously cranked up the drop rate on that one.
I have nothing nice to say about Legions paragon mounts though. I still don’t have that damn carpet…
Someone doesn’t get reading comprehension well. I stated they shouldn’t be any higher than raid drops…not that it was the same content content wise, but reward wise. Islands are a faceroll, instanced content you just have to complete for the chance. Raids are the same thing. If anything Islands have a better overall chance because you can, as I have stated, run them ad infinitum.
Hive Mind was part of BfA, and we have the bee mount questline coming in 8.2.5, but so far it seems to be only for alliance characters.
0/7 for me and counting this is on just one of my toons, the others are 0/change as well. So I keep on grinding.
I’m about halfway through the direhorn dailies and have all the warfront mounts except the kodo and (I think) all the vendor mounts.
No luck on world drops or island mounts (I think I’ve given up on islands entirely). I’m not planning to farm for dungeon/raid mounts until the expansion after next when I do transmog farming (If I’m still playing).
I did get one of the firelands mounts at last, but am not not routinely visiting old content right now. I’m sort of burnt out on chasing rare drops.
(No time-lost protodrake, but I did encounter the rare blue drake for the first time while doing the secret fish achievement)
Oh yeah, hive mind - that’s a pretty frighteningly ugly thing. Okay that was it then.
I’ll work on the bee on one of my allies. Supposed to get the bee pet first or something, right?
Yep, do all of the quests in the bee area in Stormsong, and then farm the little honey globs until you get a quest drop. That’ll lead you to the daily quest that you have to complete seven times (I think) and then you get the bee pet. Theoretically this will lead into the mount in 8.2.5.
you reply to this thread when there are hundreds of people asking if people farming black lotus with layers will be removed?
You get used to CM’s not responding to what you think of is important questions and instead respond to less important, more just fun aimed stuff like this.
That could be the case. I’m going by the wowhead drop rates, and know at least for myself I’ve opened about six without getting it (flushing sound of 60k rep down the drain). I will say, somewhat ironically, that I actually have a bit more interest in getting a certain rank 4 essence (which also hasn’t dropped).
Sometimes going by people’s posted comments can be misleading. There is a tendency in the first months of something being in the game for a lot of the first people to post being the ones who got lucky, while the people who didn’t get lucky frequently don’t start posting till they’ve had a long string of bad luck and want to vent their frustration.
Kind of like how in that first year when people could start solo’ing the Icecrown Citadel for Invincible, I remember so many people posting about how they got Invincible on their first few trips. If it wasn’t for the drop rate having been so publicly announced by Blizzard, the number of “got it on my first kill!” posts could have painted a misleading picture.
That said, I could just be getting more unlucky than usual, and sometimes wowhead drop rates end up being off kilter for some significant reason.
Thanks for the reminder to go do Legion paragon rep. I got something fugly I never ride in Argus, the green unicorn (Dreamweaver) and a drake with too many teefs (uhh…the Vala-drake-y zone) so I only do the others. Got those two paragon mounts like back to back so I thought they upped the drop rate. Was wrong.
I got my big green bird for 250 last week thanks to a bunch of Legion ones I didn’t remember to buy.
+golfclap+
You know what was good? The tiny birds (that you massacre for WQs) questline that gave you pets then mounts. Took a loooong time to do and all but worth doing. Do those again Blizz!
Yeah, wowhead drop rates are rarely reliable. In this case it’s probably not excluding boxes that people open after they get the mount. So my data would be showing one mount out of ten or so, without Wowhead knowing that I got it on the first one.
edit- of course, that’s assuming they can’t drop multiple times, which I recall the Legion ones doing now. So I could be wrong about that.
That being said, confirmation bias could absolutely be a factor.
You might already know this, but if you haven’t set it up and are serious about pursuing those other Legion paragon drops, you’ll want to go with leveling up a lot of alts, getting their class order hall followers leveled up with good equipment, and unlocking the Argus soldiers for each of the characters.
It’s a lot more front-end grinding, but on the back-end it’s likely to be the most efficient way to get rep. I’d say by the end of Legion, something like 60-70% of my rep was coming from BoA reputation tokens from the mission board (they don’t become BoA for the character that gets them until the character themself is exalted with the relevant faction).
More fun news - when your Ankoan / Unshackled followers all cap out at level 30, your rate of rep gain will go down for that character, because the rep gain from the follower dailies isn’t actually a reward from the quest, but was instead a 250 rep gain each time the follower leveled up. Once they can no longer level up, that translates into 250 less rep per day (1,750 less rep each week).
I also find it weird that they didn’t give the Nazjatar faction any rep token missions on the mission board, especially since you actually gain a new mission board follower AND the ability to recruit Ankoan / Unshackled soldiers to assist them at the mission board.
I’m sitting at 500 total mounts under statistics on my retail toon. After the 200+ run of Kings Rest and 70+ LFR runs of Might of the Alliance I got so burnt out I decided to give Classic a go. As to the question in OP, My luck has been REALLY bad this expansion. Previous expansions I was lucky enough to get multiple rare drops within sub 2 digit attempts.
