So basically, I can faction change cause I'm 4023/21000 with 7th Legion, completed the ready for war and I could just do the hordes version for more rep, then transfer back?
My experience is that direct comparison reps hold their value. Though you'll need to do all the quests.
If you eventually go back to horde the quests you had already completed will remain complete. Which is good.

So I'm understanding it right the new reps with bfa transfer equally to alliance to horde change and if you have unlocked world quests on ally then when you change to horde
World quests will also be unlocked and you don't have to grind again? Also you have to do the waterfront campaigns again though and zone story lines. Basically it all transfers except it's like starting over quest wise for the bfa story ?

There's a really nifty chart that they've added to the Faction Change Effects faq that helps:

I've read that but I don't exactly understand the chart
with all the quests that reset on faction change i can essentially get a bunch of free rep then? y/n this is the only question i'm interested in. do world quests reset

Which part are you having trouble with? The "Will transfer" column at the end covers what does and does not transfer with a faction change. Y=Yes, N=No.
I think I see now world quests transfer and are unlocked island expaditions transfer also and reputations just convert to the factionyou move to.
So basically you start like fresh quest wise and zone wise and warfronts/footholds
Would this be correct ?

If i faction change to alliance will my Honorbound reputation reset the 7th legion reputation to neutral? or will i stay exalted?
I also would like to know this.08/30/2018 01:30 PMPosted by BloodslawIf i faction change to alliance will my Honorbound reputation reset the 7th legion reputation to neutral? or will i stay exalted?
If you Faction Change your Honorbound or 7th Legion reputation will convert into the opposite faction equivalent.
Keep in mind, however, that faction-specific quests and achievements won't be converted to their counterpart in the new faction. As a result, you will be required to complete the War Campaign in the new faction.
Just saw this linked via Blue Tracker over on mmo-champion. While that's from the EU forums, the same is generally true for all regions in this sort of situation.
EDIT --- link to EU forum post is:

This didn't seem to be answered and i hope it will be now. Since i have unlocked the Mag'har Orcs will i still be able to play them if i faction change over to alliance. Since i have the rep, would dark iron be unlock able at that point as well?

That's covered in the Faction Change FAQ too, under Reputations. Allied races are Neutral and do not convert.
https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/32063
Note: Allied Race reputations are neutral. Converting to or from an Allied Race—e.g. Highmountain Tauren or Lightforged Draenei—will have no effect on those reputation levels.
Other faction-specific reputations convert into their cross-faction equivalents if one exists. Neutral reputations are not affected, except for Sunreavers and Silver Covenant, which revert to Neutral
Guys I know this thread is a little old but does anyone know how to get the quests to unlock the allied races after you faction change like a level 112? Im about to switch my warrior over who is exalted with argussian reach and the army of the light, thus unlocking the allied races for the alliance. If I switch him over, do I have to redo the quests to get the highmountain Tauren and the nightborne? If so, where do I go to reaquire such quests?
Those reputations only open Void Elf and Light-forged Draenai. There are separate reputations for Highmountain Tauren and Nightbourne.09/20/2018 08:49 AMPosted by GatholGuys I know this thread is a little old but does anyone know how to get the quests to unlock the allied races after you faction change like a level 112? This page should help on getting the reputations and achievements for the Horde Allied Races.

I'm exalted with honorbound, Zandalari, and I am over half way to exalted with Champions of Azeroth. I have Mag'har unlocked, I race changed to one also. All my horde friends quit wow for the time being. I have some friends not quitting on alliance. I have every allied race unlocked on horde, if I faction change, how do I stick with an allied race? Does all my rep convert, because that was a long grind, or do I have to rep grind again and unlock the dark iron dwarves, void elves and light forged? What I am exactly wondering is, if I faction change, on the menu when I am picking my race, can I choose the dark iron dwarves when I do so?

The Void Elves and Light Forged Draenei require different reputations from the Highmountain Tauren and the Nightbourne. If you got the reputations and achievements on any of your characters (Horde or Alliance), any Alliance character 110 or over can open them for you. I believe you still have to do the quest requirements for the Dark Iron Dwarves, but your reputation will convert.
I’m planning on switching to Alliance once I hit exalted with Honorbound. My understanding is I’ll have to do the Kul Tiras quests and Alliance War Campaign to unlock Dark Irons.
