No, they said active sub to participate. Not to receive.
or a reward for active players. Everyone wants in on the early beta, and there is limited space, why not show appreciation to your active supporters by making subscriptions required.
Really? When was the last time you Beta Tested upcoming content on the PTR without a subscription? This is not a new game. Itâs a new type of server for an existing game.
I think the complaints are motivated by self-interested people who want to try classic for free. People who truly care about testing the game arenât balking at having to have a subscription.
If people want free WoW they can hope on a private server before Blizzard shuts them all down again.
unsubbed players have gotten beta invites and were able to play in previous betas, though I thought you needed a sub to play the beta, but people are talking like you donât.
I think this is a bit of a stretch, where do you get your data from?
âInfluencersâ probably got them weeks ago.
Because most of your active subscribers donât actually want Classic.
I can go on the PTR right now without a sub. I was also on the BFA beta without a sub.
If I was just wanting the beta for free I would saying the beta should be free, not calling it out for what it is. Scummy cash grab behavior.
Also just going to point this out to you, but the PTRs are not the same thing as beta tests.
The PTRs are there to test a patch while the betas are testing entire games worth of content.
Just a guess, sorry for not making it clear.
To fill our pool of beta and stress test participants, weâll be choosing dedicated players who meet select criteria from both the WoW Classic beta opt-in and the standard Warcraft beta opt-in. Participants will also need to have an active subscription or active game time on their Battle.net Account.
I can see where you would interpret things this way. They say they are choosing people from the beta opt-in. They do not include active subscriptions in the wording.
Safe route: opt-in if you want in invite. Donât opt-in to ensure you will not get an invite.
I wouldnât pay for beta because I think they do the beta for their own benefit. Not to say I am already too old to just throw money on something that will reset in month or two.
Combine that with the name reserve cash grab. It seems they think itâs not worth long term approach but want to cash in the hype/reputation fast. I bet that we will not have to wait long for paid faction change.
I think the words youâre looking for are ânew industry standardâ. Adding microtransactions and lootboxes to your beta test is the new definition of âScummyâ.
Did you really report me for saying âTake note everyoneâ.
Good lord man. What in god name is wrong with you. You are a despicable human. People like you are why the internet is becoming a safety bubble.
what are you talking about?
Loot boxes are scummy behavior. Theyâre basically gambling to get people spend hundreds even thousands of dollars on a game that in most cases is not worth $10.
Also, I never said they were adding loot boxes and microtransactions to anything. I said charging for a chance at playing a beta when every beta before has been free is scummy cash grab behavior. But glad to know there are people like you out there who will defend companies tooth and nail so they can keep selling loot boxes and other micro transactions that are rarely worth it to the people who generally donât know any better and/or easily get addicted to that kind of thing.
Fraps or it didnât happen!
do people still use Fraps?
I just got a system message and a removed post, the post where i quoted you and wrote âTake note everybodyâ
Was that you who reported something as stupid as that?
I think itâs still a good tool.
No idea what Fraps is, but I was in the BFA without a sub.
But then I wouldnt be able to put in my 4 cents
A). I said lootboxes & microtransactions ARE the new definition of Scummy.
B). Name one AAA developer that is doing a better job than Blizzard of NOT screwing their fan base over?
