I just want to add that the Consecration talent choice giving HP talent randomly when Consecration does dmg will give more HP than the one that gives a fixed 1 per 12 seconds talent. This is when i had the Consecrated Blade talent as well to drop Consecration on AoW procs.
This is on single target, i’ve tested it out on a dummy, i receive 6-7 per minute.
The other talent gives 5 flat per minute since it’s one per 12 sec.
Now if we talk about AOE… it increases its generation up to 4 targets, so i imagine it’ll shoot past 10 HP per minute easily.
I didn’t give feedback on this yet… i’ll wait for them to do some tuning first.
I really wish they made Consecration movable with the paladin. The build sounds fun, but it’s always going to feel bad when enemies just move away from it.
I honestly don’t think it’s really moving away from anything because the Exorcism debuff lingers on the target even if they move out of Consecration.
So as long as you hit Exorcism while the target(s) are in Consecration, you’ll always get the full benefit of the Exorcism debuff.
The issue is that it almost feels like it’s trying to be another Holy Power finisher. It’s this additional “mini game” you introduce into your rotation that has nothing to do with Holy Power at all.
Cast Consecration - No Holy Power generated
Cast Exorcism - No Holy Power generated
Now start your rotation.
It’s made even worst when you are in actual play.

** Okay, Exorcism is coming off Cooldown, let me Consecration. - No Holy Power **
Cast Exorcism - No Holy Power
Okay, what Holy Power builders are available?
It feels very disruptive and the idea of Consecrated Blade makes you WANT to hit a further target or a different target to maximize your area of damage. Spread the Consecration around, right…
Well, now you’re just adding trying to hit off targets in the midst of everything else that’s going on.
Without these abilities generating Holy Power, or Exorcism being a finisher, maybe a Vanquisher’s Hammer, idk, it just feels so disruptive.
idk how is there STILL 3 nodes that revolve around divine steed. Whoever the paladin dev is they are extremely out of touch and for some reason refuse to have any kind of interaction on the beta forums. How are talents like sentinel still not functioning properly?? There’s a handful of talents still broken for paladin and we are getting dangerously close to release. How do they expect people to test properly on the beta when talents are broken. How is there no update if they are at least considering making divine toll give holy power for prot. I’m not trying to be rude but we are way to close to pre patch and a release at the end of November. Either Blizzard needs to allocate additional resources to address concerns or the person handling paladin needs to be changed out.
have you seen the new patch notes… some interesting changes there and holy got a lot coverage.
I hope this is a mistake:
[Retribution]
Talents (2)
** Empyrean Endowment]** Judgment empowers your next Templar’s Verdict to automatically trigger Divine StormWord of Glory to automatically activate Light of Dawn with 25% increased effectiveness.
This effect can only occur every 30 sec.
[ Seasoned Warhorse] Increases the duration of Divine Steed by 1 sec.Rank 1: Increases the duration of Divine Steed by 1 sec.
Rank 2: Increases the duration of Divine Steed by 2 sec.
So maybe they are addressing it.
Does not forgive the fact we have had almost ZERO posts or design interactions from the class lead.
Nevermind, they changed 2 things in the class and spec tree for ret. Checkout wowheads ptr section. And yes the “new” empyrean endowment for retsays that procs LoD from WoG. Lol I dont even know what is going on prob a mistake.
Still by the looks of it, blizzard is ok with the ret and class tree. GG
GG. They are still absolutely clueless, I hope DF is a massive failure at this stage.
Perhaps that’s the intention, deliberate sabotage before Microsoft turn over.
A vision comes to mind of a dev with their fingers in their ears singing “LALALALALA, I cannot hear you!”.
Wowhead is not very good in sorting talents to the right spec. This is clearly the announced holy paladin version of Empyrean Endowment.
Always take info from wowhead with a grain of salt.
At least we now can ignore this choice node entirely, both talents are not very good. That said, why do we have talents that are “auto-not-pick” in our talent tree at all? Talents should be exciting, not: “oh cool, this talent is so bad I don’t even have to consider taking it.” What kind of development philosophy is this?
Also: they fiddling with those talents makes me feel we won’t get Divine Steed baseline. Which would be a shame.
You’re in the saltmines that are the Paladin forums.
The devs sit on a rock overlooking their kingdom and one asks “What is that dark area in the distance?”
The other looks to where they point and say, “We don’t go there… thats the Paladin class forum. A vile pit of scum and villainy.”
/laughcrylaughcry
Yea, I mean what do they expect when they let me make talent builds where as a ret I can go completely without Auras of the Resolute and Hand of Freedom just to squeeze as much damage out of the tree as possible? Sure, I could take ALL the utility and skip the damage, but what group would ever accept that with our utility being so niche? We already are not the number one pick as damage dealer.
What else should we do when we effectively lose more than we gain through those new talent trees? Do they expect us to rejoice and throw a big party?
Well, honestly I don’t think they are looking at the “big picture” when it comes to Paladins, and it really appears like they have 1 Prot Paladin and 1 Holy Paladin Developer that are just kindof like Alts.
It doesn’t appear that they have an overall plan for each spec.
Prot is in this limbo of 2 play styles with SotR and AS generating Holy Power.
Holy is in this limbo of 2 play styles with Melee vs Caster builds.
Ret is in this limbo of 1 min build vs sustain build vs new clunky AoE build.
We have BoP, AW, and Divine Steed, being hard stretched in talents.
We have 7+ talents that are copy pasted in each spec tree.
We have zero covenant abilities in our Class Tree.
We have zero PvP Talents in our Class Tree.
Ret has 11 Judgement modifiers and 2 HoW/CS ones…
We have a mess of a situation with Auras.
We still have almost no group utility and BoSac/BoP vs Group utility hasn’t been addressed.
By the Light, I feel the same. It’s so damn bad, Paladin is the only class fantasy I truly enjoy, the only class I can main, but the gameplay just doesn’t click, it doesn’t feel good and with all this mess going in DF I am even less hopeful.
I just don’t get this “tug of war” that the devs seem to enjoy, every single damn time, it’s always a fight with the devs, always this arrogance that their vision is worth more than the enjoyment of the players.
I mean, I knew the whole “We will change” stuff they went about was just PR, but god damn, I wouldn’t be lying if I said part of me didn’t want to believe.
