Beta could be tomorrow, Beta could be a few months. If its tomorrow or within a week, why would they not announce this at Blizzcon 3 weeks ago? What could possibly change in 3 weeks to have them ready to release it. Seems weird to not have any announcement hype behind the TBC beta. This leaves me to think we have a few weeks maybe 2 months till it arrives. What do you all think? Do you think its tomorrow, and why wouldnt they announce at blizzcon?
Classic Beta AND Classic Release Date were both announced the same day (May 14, 2019). Also, the Classic Beta Began on May 15th, 2019 (1 day AFTER the announcement). So, they could announce it any day this week and start it THAT day, or the next.
Unlike oldschool blizzard, activisn doesn’t like to announce dates and then move them if something goes wrong. They only announce dates when they are 100% certain that they can meet it. Moving a release back is very bad business practice. And they had to do it with shadowlands.
That’s why we have an unofficial, datamined date of May 18th for the prepatch but no actual announcement. ATM, that is the currently schedule date and will likely be the start of the prepatch. However, blizzard doesn’t want to officially declare that date until a bit more testing is done.
If the prepatch is indeed planned for the 18th of may, then the beta needs to begin by april 6th. That date would give them 6 weeks of testing, which i would argue is the minimum, depending on how they do it.
As for not announcing a date at blizzcon, they had been having issues getting the game into a stable mode. They spent 20 minutes of the 30 minute panel basically explaining WHY they were not announcing a beta date yet… (naked blood elves, an ocean on hellfire…etc.).
They needed to at least get those fixed and some stable alpha testing before they could announce a beta date. And we know alpha has begun.
Assuming that leaked email is real, friends and family beta likely begins tomorrow or the 23rd. They do that for 2 weeks, and then invite / closed beta we signed up for begins on the 30th or april 6th.
Or they could begin the closed / invite beta at the same time as Friends and Family beta. Either way, with another maintenence tomorrow on both classic and the PTR for classic, i expect some form of beta starts tomorrow.
Very well said. Yeah i have just been curious on what others are thinking. So many are convinced TBC beta is tomorrow, but basing off what?
I think they just really bored and hopeful for tbc to lol
They’re basing it off a date that was data mined.
Ya they would never announce a date then push it back cause the game was never ready now a day…
Except they did with a little tounge and cheek “soon”.
Isn’t pre patch already speculated for a may 18th release?
soon for blizzard can mean months. Reforged was “soon” then it was end of year lol
They did tell you when…it’s soon!
Sadly it could also mean tomorrow!
Also the forums are not the place for their news. I didn’t find out about patch 9.0.5’s drop date until I found an article on it the friday before it dropped.
I have tried to restore my hope in Blizzard and be positive and supportive of the classic project since they announced it. But this whole idea if “Soon™” is not really defendable. There is no way you plan on releasing a project of this size and don’t really know what month of 2021 that’s gonna happen. It’s so unprofessional and illogical to come on TV and announce a project and not even put in an approximate month around for the release … why would you announce it if you don’t know it’s happening in 2 months or 10 months …
