Beta, Pre patch, Launch?

You’re thinking of third party give-aways, not the Opt In for Beta.

I’ve been in plenty of WoW betas without having a sub.

But they may have changed the policy in the last few years.

My own post from 2019, though they’ve removed the “In Account Management” opt-in screen now.

Edit: Also wow, forgot I’d make 14,600 posts on the old Druid.

No, only time you need a sub for beta is when they specifically say you do. Lot of people get betas and haven’t played or been subbed in YEARS.

They use beta’s to try to get people back.

I’m in the camp that thinks Beta likely drops in Q2 (so next two weeks), Pre-Patch in Aug, live in late Aug-mid Sept.

There was a blue post I think last week that highlighted everything they planned to do in the “next few” months which included Wrath live. While “few” is ambiguous I’d be really surprised if that meant Oct (4 months).

6 week pre-patch… No way… 1st week of Sept for sure for release.

No way. A 4 week beta is ridiculous. We’ve had longer PTRs.

You will be replacing a LOT of gear prior to going into naxx. The stat squish from 70-80 is brutal with nearly all ratings requiring double or more to equal the same raw values. If you are hit capped in your current gear you won’t even be close at 80. Same way with crit which a lot of wrath specs rely on to smooth out their rotations.

Not to mention that some specs have drastically changed so that gearing has to be completely reworked. For example, tbc elemental shaman get 9% hit from talents and 3% from totem of wrath. In Wrath, that same shaman will have 3% hit from talents and no longer gain hit from the totem.

That does seem short, not going to lie. I would be much happier with longer. But do keep in mind this isnt new content. Its more of just testing to make sure everything runs like it did before.

while all of this makes sense the issue remains just give us some information…

They already said it will be at minimum 2 weeks and maybe up to 6 weeks. So I think a month is unfortunately where we will end up. I agree though, pre patch is a bad time for some classes.

3 weeks or more is plenty of time for poeple on the fresh server who want to be 70 before launch to get there. 2 would be cutting it close, 4 would see a larger starting Northrend population. FOr established servers, the length of pre-patch really makes no difference besides easy farming of BT/SWP.

And yet Vanilla and TBC had longer Betas.

TBC went from 23 March 2021 to pre-patch on 19 May 2021. And debatably had less new systems than Wrath will, from vehicles to phasing to Heroic raids.

well they announced/moved up the date for Dragonflight. yet still no communication lol

“*World of Warcraft®: Dragonflight will be available on or before December 31, 2022”

I am not going to lie… I am really starting to get worried. Beta needs to come sooner then later…

With DF releasing this year it gives some credence to this leak, maybe we’ll see a beta announcement real soon.

Makes since, they wouldnt want to put them out at the same time and cannibalize sales from one or the other, mostly the latter. But Yea, first week of Sep has what I have been telling all my guildmates… Which means, beta needs to come soon™…

if it were to come in September that means beta is max 1 month and pre patch will be 3 weeks

This is big brain work right here and it makes total sense. I bet this is like 99% accurate.
