i feel like we’re in limbo just waiting for some news. now that its been announced for awhile and SWP has been out for over a month can we get some details on when we should plan to see these ?

Well with it coming this year I can see the beta being announced either this month which is becoming more and more unlikely or next month. the beta should last at least 3 months so the release of WotLK would be ~Oct/Nov.
thats 7-8 months of SWP raiding (6 bosses) seems a tad excessive.
really would just like some communication from blizzard on the topic as its already started to get stale and people are dropping from the game left and right

Given that rampant inflation will pick up after September/October, due to the end of the harvest season and the purchase of crazy expensive fertilizer for next season that is now up 80-100%, I imagine Blizzard will want to take a shot at getting in some extra income and selling boosts before disposable income takes another hit. They should really be aiming at a labor day weekend-ish launch, so back up 2-6 weeks before that for pre-patch and fresh launch.

It’s the price that accelerated phases has.
Naxx lasted 6 months, it had like 15 bosses and people were still dropping from the game because they saw no point in raiding if TBC makes the gear pointless.
It’s always going to happen, people will always stop playing because it’s the last phase and so it shouldn’t be used as a reason for the next expansion to be released sooner than it should. TBC was cut short and personally I hope that they make back the time by making phase 5 last at least 5-6 months rather than the usual 3 we’re getting in TBC.
News on when the beta will come would be nice, we don’t need news on when the pre-patch/launch is because they might not even have a set date yet.
SWP has been out for roughly 1 month, by November it’d have been out for 6.
Naxx was a super long raid so sure it made sense to last 6 months… also its not fair to compare naxx to sunwell…
the gear in naxx lasted you through most of P1 in TBC.
thats not the case in WOTLK. you replace almost everything by your pre bis heroic farm etc.
I doubt we’ll get 6 months of SWP. They rushed prepatch for TBC and said that they were going to give us a longer prepatch for WOTLK, so I bet we’ll get 4 months of SWP and a month of prepatch. I’m hoping for this anyway, a month of prepatch will feel so long (wonky talents and classes that feel incomplete) and uncomfortable.
Naxx wasn’t a super long raid, my guild was clearing it in an hour. it’s the same length that SWP will have when we’re all geared up the only difference being how many bosses there are.
I honestly doubt it too, it’s the best case scenario for me I hope it lasts 6 months but will probably only get 4 like you said.
I wouldn’t mind 6 months of SWP (though its unrealistic if we’re getting WOTLK this year), i just don’t want a full 4 weeks of prepatch.

My guess would be prepatch is 1-2 weeks after the server consolidation which is Aug 9th…
So prepatch the 16th or 23rd…
Server consolidation is also only 7.5 weeks from now, so I’m expecting beta within 2 weeks on the early side, or perhaps July 5th/12th if they postpoone it until after the 4th of july weekend… but doing so would be a very short beta process.
I’m also expecting a 4-5 week prepatch… which means a last week September wrath launch. Why? Because then it’s sneaking into the last week or two of Q3, which gives blizz a nice little MAU bump on their Q3 report, and but also has the bulk of wrath’s launch-hype window spilling into the first few weeks of Q4 so they can mislead investors for back to back quarters.

Beta: June 24th.
Prepatch: August 16th.
Release Date: September 20th.
It’s worse this time around though. Naxx, had 15 boss’s, but people weren’t worried because their gear was going to be replaced shortly in tbc. There was still content.
Right now we have only 6 boss’s, people will finish and get bored sooner, the gear doesn’t last as long coming out of sunwell as it did coming out of Naxx (Naxx gear could carry you through Kara, Sunwell gear will be completely replaced by dungeon blues before Naxx). And to make it even worse, with the announcement of Fresh Servers, alot of people see no point in progressing their characters any further, because they will be abandoning them, to start fresh in Wrath.

That would be both amazing, and horrifying at the same time. Amazing because I want wrath now. Horrifying because I want some more time running zombie raids on major cities, and because that’s not enough time to request the large amount of time off I am requesting for wrath release 
How much advanced notice do you need to give?
pre-patch dropping to live with beta release! & 1.5months after then wotlkc release.
