Very true. “Semi-hardcore” does seem to be able to hold any definition someone wants it to.
I just inv this morning. I am going take a look and see how my class feel. Don’t you worry you will get the inv soon.
That’s why it doesn’t work that way anymore. There was even a big fiasco where streamers were caught giving keys away for donations, even a couple of the well known ones that are still a thing today. That’s nothing new when it comes to stuff like that though. There was one streamer who used to sell ginvites for donations. lol
It’s totally random mostly, I got one for Legion but no other expansion. The only exceptions are content creators/streamers and the 1%er progression guilds. CC/S’s because it’s good free advertisement. The 1%er progression guilds because no one else is good enough to really test the hard stuff in the raids.
while i agree in general
you typically invite the top mythic guilds for high level class feedback more then Mythic raids (as they litterally test raid bosses separately and those groups are given specific fight time test schedules). for general class feedback though you want it to come from a place where the players actually understand the mechanics and nuances of a spec.
just so you avoid scenario like this:
Tester: “fury Warrior AoE is really bad”
Dev "“what seems to be the issue with it”
Tester: “theres just no real AoE i just only hit one target”
Dev: “…did you know whirlwind allows your attacks to cleave for a short period”
Tester: “oh, thank you!”
you kind of want to avoid players who dont know/understand the basics for a while especially during early alpha and beta phases.
pretty sure they changed it now but for bfa beta i got in first wave while not subbed to the game. saw it as a here test this so you get hooked again and resub. but heard one of the requirements this time is an active sub but im sure their are people not subbed playing in the beta
