Holy damage is definitely not going “drop through the tubes”. there are so many damage modifiers for holy in the holy tree, and the you may even say that the only damage that matters is the single target damage in keys, which holy will dominate with that no-cd holy fires talents. I saw Jak on twitch playing holy, and mage looks pretty good to me.
As I looked at Shadow Crash, a few extra Void Touches passed around, I think you’re right. You should be able to get enough inanity through instant casted Spikes and Blasts, then Sear to let procs build back up. I actually think it’ll feel pretty good. Should be solid 3-4 target cleave, too.
I can’t test the game, still =/. So hard to evaluate my feedback vs how it’s functioning in beta currently.
But by just going off what I read and understand. These are my thoughts on some nodes/talents in shadow spec.
Shadow Spec:
straight up some nodes need to be point reduces and moved around a bit more, as well as made more flexible.
Piercing shadows – Obvious filler talent. I don’t hate it, its cool. It just needs to be one point.
Mind devour - same as above. One point instead of two. Maybe make it 10-12% chance proc if you do this. Actually, since it doesn’t even buff mind blast anymore, it should be a bit stronger regardless.
Derangement --idk how i feel about this passive. I don’t think its current position is correct. doesn’t fit well with the path. It should be moved somewhere else entirely. I also don’t like the Devour plague interactions of that passive. It sucks imo. I rather have Mind devour here within its current position.
Dark evangelism – should be one point as well imo.
Unfurling darkness – another passive in a weird position. should be more accessible if you ask me.
Whisper of the dammed – Not really feeling this, should be just removed entirely. Replace its position with piercing shadows maybe?
Guardians of the Light is T’uure artifact trait, when you cast GS it puts one on you and one on your target. They work separately, one can break, one can not, etc. Was great in M+ at the time as telegraphed one-shots were common in higher keys, but not sure how it will fare in Dragonflight. Think I prefer the 1m unless we will be popping GS often in keys.
I figure I’d be running the 1 minute GS because it was pretty strong this expansion if you were tracking tank cds. For raid I’d use the Guardian one.
Mentioned on another thread but i tested it and CR does proc atonement healing
That is weird. CR is not proccing atonement healing for me.
Edit: my conduits (condensed anima sphere) and other things are proccing a heal when I’m attacked. But not atonement.
I mean, if Daketh is correct, PW:S is pretty great.
But if he’s not correct, shouldn’t it be submitted as a bug? CR is a talent now, and SFP is transferring through atonement - why wouldn’t CR?
I hope he’s correct. My own test could just be bugged. So many things are bugged on the beta. I submitted four bug reports earlier today for disc talents. As far as CR goes, I tested it with two characters: my copied main, and one I created on the beta.
I just tested it by casting PWS on myself at half-health and having outdoor quest mobs attack me. I didn’t get any atonement heals from it. I made sure the talents were selected and applied.
Edit: well…I know CR is at least partially bugged. It’s not even doing the part where it is supposed to “instantly heal the target.”
Is it only supposed to work on a target other than myself? It’s only doing the reflection part for me.
i let myself get hit for a bit no heals. then hit pws. and small heals trickling in. obviously with no details its hard to know how much etc but i can see heals on myself when i hit pws
i have no conduits on that would heal me
hmm trying it again and its hard to tell hey.
Did you check the combat log? I’m wondering if you also took the talent in the main tree that heals you for a small amount over 6 seconds after taking a critical hit and that’s the heal you are seeing.
if i could swear i would. im wrong. its the leech. so no caps it does NOT proc atonement. My aplogies, i was wrong
Thanks poe
Wil throw it in the bug report and on the beta forums to see if we can get something moving on that
No worries, thanks for helping us test.
Hope you’re right because holy’s selling point on utility pretty much has to be added damage with PI and hopefully its own kit, there’s not much else there.
Still can’t believe things like holy fire are even in the tree as having to be bought instead of baseline replacing Mind Blast, though.
And anyone in beta play around with this Empyreal Blaze? Do you just like smash it back to back to back to back? Sounds a bit awkward to use.
Not sure it’s that unintuitive to pre-Shadowmend. Does the rot become a HoT or a direct heal?
Either way pretty similar to druids pre-HoTing and barkskinning and at least it’s a different school.
I cant imagine Smend giving you echo of light no, but if you have masochisim then its a hot on yourself. I cbf scrolling back too far Even for holy i can see a use for smend if not a lesser version of serenity that is in a different school. Havent looked at the holy tree yet but i can imagine i would take it
Im i the only disc that really wants surge of light in raid and keys./ Prob more keys. Especially since its free and gives atonement and if you bank it in raid for during low damage phases you can keep up some hps for free while you are pwsing the tank and just smiting
I would be very tempted to scrap CR in raids and go HW life. with an add on or WA that glows a frame at 35% i can see uses for it. if not on someone else, then on you when it gets ugly
either going that way or void shift. love the torment of the choices
My take on cleaning up the NEW Priest Class Talent Tree…
Priest Class 10.0 Tree - Altered Variant
Priest Class 10.0 Tree - Altered Variant (Readable)
What’s Removed…
-
Vampiric Embrace
- Why?
Holy and Disc have very little Shadow Spell interaction that takes advantage of Vampiric Embrace.
Shadow is known for its damage leeching capability. It should stay with Shadow as a major reason to bring Shadow over other class/spec options.
- Why?
-
San’layn
- Why?
With Vampiric Embrace moved back to Shadow, San’layn will follow suite.
- Why?
What’s Changed…
-
Leap of Faith (Add Vault of Heavens as a (Switch) Choice talent)
-
Vault of Heavens
Causes you to leap to your target. -
Psychic Voice (Add Petrified as a (Switch) Choice talent)
-
Petrified
Targets of your Psychic Scream now tremble in place instead of fleeing in fear. -
Translucent Image
Fade reduces damage you take by 10%.- Why?
5% damage reduction seems a bit too low. Suggest bringing it up to 10%
- Why?
-
Angelic Bulwark
When an attack brings you below 30% health, you gain an absorption shield equal to 15% of your maximum health for 20 sec. Cannot occur more than once every 90 sec.
While you have Power Word: Shield on yourself, you take 10% less damage.- Why?
For a capstone talent, this seems pretty weak. Having the ability to Shield yourself and having passive damage reduction for a “capstone” talent is actually compelling when faced with instant mega damage moments.
- Why?
What’s New…
-
Silence
Silences the target, preventing them from casting spells for 4 sec. Against non-players, also interrupts spellcasting and prevents any spell in that school from being cast for 4 sec.- Why?
At this point with every single other class in the game getting an interrupt, I think its pretty much accepted that you should have the capability to interrupt. Perhaps baseline should be only an interrupt on a 1 min cooldown. Then Last word it upgrades into a Silence?
Some people suggest having a baseline interrupt in the class tree and upgrade into a silence in Shadows tree. But that just wont work. You would have to spend 2 points on something you already should have with just 1 point for Shadow and that opens up the possibly that you can get the upgrade talent in Shadow without getting the base interrupt in Class tree. That is VERY awkward.
- Why?
-
Last Word
Reduces the cooldown of Silence by 15 sec. -
Inner Focus
Instant 3 min cooldown
When activated, reduces the Mana cost of your next 3 spells by 100% and increases its critical effect chance by 25% if it is capable of a critical effect.- Why?
Compelling reason for Shadow to pick up for the crit factor alone. Also helps the Crit effect talent synergy for Holy and Discipline in addition to another Mana efficiency talent.
- Why?
-
Spectral Guise
Instant 30 sec cooldown
Your shadow blurs into the darkness, leaving your true form behind. As a shadow you are stealthed, but remain in combat. Lasts 6 sec or until your true form is hit by 3 direct attacks.- Why?
This is sun such a fun ability to skip around area to not pull mobs as well as in open world and PvP.
If its an issue with avoiding mechanics, make it a longer cooldown like 2 min or something.
- Why?

Light’s Inspiration
Desperate Prayer heals you for an additional 5/10% of your maximum health over 5 sec.-
Light’s Inspiration seems to be lacking. I honestly don’t think Desperate Prayer should be a baseline ability. It should be in the class talent tree or removed entirely. As evidence with this Light’s Inspiration talent, its pretty bland and lacks any interesting ideas/mechanics supporting it.
Sadly, I don’t have a good idea what can take Light’s Inspiration place that would be compelling enough given its 2 point requirement and tree/path placement.

I really like the LoF changes, turning it into a mobility choice instead of a 1 out of 100 lifesaver would definitely feel a lot better with it even being on the tree instead of baseline.
Turning fear into a tremble in place would also be helpful in PvE. And making Fade a decent DR would be nice, even if they felt they had to scale HW:Life or Masochism down to do so.
We do still need a personal though, so you can’t get rid of DP entirely. They even went to a lot of trouble to redesign SoH to reduce personal CDs.
Overall:
I’m very happy with all 3 spec trees.
However a tuning pass needs to happen to either buff or replace the talents that work around PW:S, Shadow Mend and Shadow Cov. PW:S and SM having a CD now makes the talents that work off them weak and unappealing. Shadow Cov buffing Shadow spells doesn’t work well with those spells (namely SM) having a CD and the Dark Penance alternative being too weak to justify taking SCov at all.
Vampiric Embrace on the class tree is wonderful but lacking for Holy and Disc. I’d like to see VE changed to work with direct damage spells of any damage type. That wouldn’t change Shadows functionality with VE but would make Penance work with it for Disc and Holy Fire for Holy.
Minor points: Disc
- I really like having Surge of Light on the class tree as Disc and Shadow. Binding Heals also feels great as Disc for the free personal Atonement application.
- SWD procing Atonement feels incredibly good.
- Lights Inspiration is incredibly weak as a talent that is effectively a dead end and competes with Crystalline Reflection.
- Angelic Bulwark feels more like a PvP talent than a capstone talent. I feel similarly regarding Void Shift but the real offender here is having half the class capstones being purely defensive talents. Turning Angelic Bulwark into something else more utility or offensively oriented would make Void Shift a defensive choice but as it stands I don’t see anyone forgoing Mindgames and Surge of Light/HW: Life to take Bulwark and Void Shift.
- Harsh Discipline is probably my favourite talent on the entire Disc tree. It feels great to be able to build up stacks or bank a proc knowing damage is coming. It is powerful enough that I doubt any Disc will ever build a tree without it and for that reason I’d be okay seeing it turned into a capstone if necessary to keep its power.
- Lights Wrath is numerically weak. 175% sp buffed to a 1.5s cast and maybe double damage or 4 points isn’t enough to compete with Penance on a 9s CD that deals 160% sp damage with 4 bolts which can be buffed to 7 bolts with Harsh Discipline and by 30/50% from PotDS.
- Weal and Woe is also numerically very weak as a capstone talent when other talents further up the tree give more benefit, like Balance of All Things which is great. The idea of Weal and Woe causing Penance to buff other spells is fine, it’s just not enough numerically to really play around as a capstone.
- Make Amends is a non-starter for me simply because I defensively Penance with a mouseover macro and almost always have enemies targeted and don’t want to extend Atonement on myself often.
