Beta Development Update -- Leatherworking Drums

No. The two nerfs are as follows…

  • Introduction of the 7-yard radius nerf
  • Introduction of Tinnitus, a debuff not included until much, much later

Do you like that you’ll be forced to stand next to your drummer when called to do so? Or would you like to carry on and gain benefit from the drums without having to move from where you are?

Short answer is raid tuning. Earlier raids were tuned without the expectation of everyone getting hit with drum buffs. By adding in the OG drums, blizz is replicating the “authenticity”. You CAN buff your group with them still, but have to make a higher effort to do so. (Mostly the min-maxers)

Th short range also allows you to choose not to stack and use you own drums to buff yourself.

The issue was the OG drums were so powerful that even guilds who aren’t “hardcore” were forced to do it. My guild is not hardcore, the only WBs we required were ONY and HoH but many people chose to get DMT and SF. That was a choice.

But due to the power of drums, we were gonna require it for ALL raiders. Not because we’re HC but because it’ll be needed if you want to clear the later tier content. (At least in a reasonable time) Now we all get a choice between enchanting, JC, or LW.

…but why JUST DRUMS and nothing else?

Precisely this. It serves no purpose now other than force the raid to have to stand next to their drummer when called to do so.

No, now it means you will pick Enchanting and Jewel Crafting because there’s yet two other professions that have overpowered exclusives that virtually force you to take them. Why not nerf those as well so players don’t feel like they ‘have’ to take them to have the highest spell/healing power etc.?

Thank you for listening.

Thank you Blizzard!!! Also thanks to everyone who helped push this to their attention and make a good change that was in TBC (the patch right after sunwell)

this is better than making drums raid wide. we don’t need any more buffs to play power, this change means the game will technically be slightly harder when fighting more challenging bosses, something that is better given how we are going in with the best set of talents/gear/tuning. Thank you so much blizzard!!

Weapons are also being made progressive. Weapons that were main hand only will remain main hand only until later in the game when they become one handed. It isn’t just drums.

“just don’t use it!”

That worked out so well for worldbuffs, didn’t it?

lmao

Atm profession were hit with : You need the required profession to benefit from the perk (exmaple : enchanting and JW)

LW are now hit with the debuff. All blizzard need now if to remove the 40 yeard version in phase 4 they wanna add and restore the old version range since they now give debuff.

What players are starting to ask is simple enough : make heroism/bloodlust a sated beduff and make both LW and Heroism/Bloodlust raid wide (even tho it was added only in wrath for obvious reason).

Just make drum 40 yard rad now and just remove the new version you wanna add since we now have a debuff.
Add a satesd debuff so people will not stack shaman.
Make them both raid wide. This will kill a meta before it even hatches

It’s not JUST drums, it’s ALL tradeskills. BS weapons are MH only. Engineering only gets it’s first helm version (Second helm comes out later). JC gems and Ring enchants now require the tradeskill to function.

making heroism give sated debuff is not an elegant sollution or needed.

all they have to do to fix what problem people are having with it is to make it so you cant switch groups in combat.

but i would be against that .

Go play retail if you want that…

Which is why they are now the two professions that people will be forced to take to be competitive and peak within a raid environment. I await the nerf to these two professions since they have the same issue of players feeling like they now have to pick them for that highest spell/healing power, stats, etc.

We don’t get +stats till a later phase

the difference is the jc/ench perks equate to maybe 5% personal player power at most and the lw drums were 5% haste to the entire raid 100% of the time without the tinittus change.

so ya there was a big difference .

For those complaining about the initial drums radius:

  • Greatly increased the radius of the [Drums of Battle][Drums of Restoration][Drums of Speed][Drums of War].

It was only increased to 40 yards in Zul’Aman

Engineering makes sense because those other items weren’t introduced until later content patches. JC and Ench aren’t changing the items themselves, just putting a prof requirement on them so that sweaties don’t feel the need to level and drop them every time they get a new piece of gear.

Blacksmithing 1h weapons and drums are the only things being changed to be “”“authentic”"". Why only these two things? Answer the question.

Love when a person is out of counter productive argument and is doing anything because they feel treathen by some change they dont like.

Nobody is gonna be forced to take those two professions. The benefit exists but it’s really freaking small. Especially compared to drums. Drums was a MASSIVE boost to the WHOLE PARTY. Whereas 4 stats to rings (120hp, 80 mana for 2X rings) is almost nothing by comparison.

Drums being mandatory is a problem because leatherworking is useless for non-leather users, and its profession bonus is FAR larger than any other profession.

Ench and JC are useful for all classes, and their profession bonuses are not massive like drums are.
