Beta Development Update -- Leatherworking Drums

this is a good change but will the lesser drums still have the obnoxious 8 yard radius? remember you added that as your first (failed) attempt to redesign drums to prevent players from stacking lwing. with the tinnitus change there is 0 reason lesser drums needs to be restricted to 8 yard radius

Caused by receiving a drum buff. Effectively prevents drum rotations, meaning there’s no reason to have more than one drummer per group.

These changes all run in one direction: reduce the advantages of min-maxing the raiding game.

Fifteen years later, the same crybabies who want to equalize the playing field, and the same capitulation by the company.

Thank you for actually listening to the issues!

Good. Min-maxing the raiding game is what has lead to pretty much every single problem in the game up through retail, and including ruining classic with the toxic cesspit that was gaming world buffs.

Definitely a needed change to prevent the min-maxing sweat lords from requiring 20+ leatherworkers per raid.

Bloodlust/Heroism probably needs a similar change otherwise raids will be constantly group swapping Shamans.

This is amazing news!

If adding Tinnitus for drums… sated for lust? Seems much more impactful/logical.

That would be ideal, but that’s a lesser issue. Really they could solve that by just preventing switching groups in combat right? Since that’s how it worked?

Drums are still taking druids out of shapeshift forms.

Very nice!! thank you!!

All is left now is to add a sated debuff from Heroism/Bloodlust.

Altho making them raid wide as well would definitely put the final hit in the coffin to kill meta.

This makes very little sense from a point of balance. Already are the normal drums useless but now with the tinnitus debuff, they’re even more useless.

The only way I can see this working out after the last nerf and now this nerf is to allow the following…

  • Increase the range of normal drums to 40 yard range making the greater variety 1 minute in duration instead of 30 seconds (similar structure for Restoration)

Having players forced to stand within 7 yards is unrealistic and takes away from the experience regarding the benefit of support abilities or buffs. We have the debuff now, so why keep the previous nerf knowing it only hurts the raid experience?

Having two nerfs in a row because you have a bunch of players who want to see only their professions as the best professions is in itself disingenuous to the spirit of balance and kowtowing to the masses who do that very thing isn’t going to help the profession, only hurt it.

There’s a reason Leatherworking was given drums in the first place and in the fashion they were in. Tinnitus wasn’t even an idea until long after drums existed as a 40 yard variant.

This is the correct fix, thank you blizzard.

To be honest, with the tinnitus debuff you don’t need the two drum levels. Would be nice to just go with the greater drums from launch… however, the tinnitus debuff is the correct restriction for greater drums.

People specifically want older versions of the game because they don’t have things like store mounts and boosts. Nothing wrong with people who are looking for an old school mmo experience to not want those things in the game.

Agreed, the double ‘nerf’ is now pointless.

Remember that back in the day min/maxing was not that widespread that it is today.

Classic was awful for alot of ppl and tedius for other as min/maxing becane standard for semi-hardcore guild and become a common thing generally.

The min/maxing came from retail and affected classic in a poor way since the game design back in 2004 was not meant to be that way. So content went alot easier than ppl wanted.

Reason behinf asking for a debuff on LW (and voice started for shaman buff as well) was to put an end even before it became a problem. This also have been apply to all profession perk in advanced for that.

Back in the day you just needed to craft the thing then you could drop your profession to get another perk. Now they required the profession to be active. Simple enough, ppl want some challenge and not being forced into a meta thing since it’s all from retail thing for parses and speed run and all of that crap.
