Yeah I mean why would you go out of your way to opt-in for Classic WoW Beta (because it does have its own opt-in) if you aren’t committing to testing… totally defeats the purpose.
I’m sure a good chunk of people just want to play it for fun but a lot of people also want to help QA the game, and that’s what it’s meant for.
Mhm, I’ve encountered at least 10 people that got the real beta and have 0 interest in playing nor testing it. I’d love nothing more than to do both. It’s like getting the winning golden ticket and going ‘Meh, chocolate is dumb.’ and throwing it away.
Yes, and I participated. Job done. I don ‘t intend to spend two hours restarting the client and looking at authentication errors and “world server down” any more than that. I’m not a paid “tester” after all. That’s the streamers’ jobs
Except those that DID help stress test and now want to uninstall, like myself. I’m under no obligation to “show up to work” for any subsequent tests, especially since Blizzard didn’t email me about them so presumably I don’t have access anyway.
Oh come ON. Listen to you people and your misguided sense of “duty”.
I tested. Testing is done. I’ve been waiting for weeks for an option to be available to remove the client. Simple. As. That.
So basically what your telling me is that you want people to uninstall it even though a stress test is scheduled for Wednesday or whenever you decide to do it I really hope you consider inviting more of the Blizzard accounts that played Vanilla WoW, like mine, to the beta. I can why you would want to do this but what you really did is make a bunch of people think they got invited when in reality you just gave them a button that if you tried to click it would say " You can’t play wow classic yet. " Not even a Sorry. Thanks for hearing my concerns
Testing isn’t done. We’ve literally only completed one test out of three. That’s not how progress works. And people use the ‘I’m not doing Blizzard’s work for free’ excuse, which is as dumb as it gets, are wild. Blizzard needs population to test stress tests. That’s part of the STRESS. All Blizzard has to do is make the game and throw it at us ‘There.’ … The testing period is so that we can make sure it’s working as good as it can be before it actually releases. Would you rather spend 2 hours a month for 3 months, 6 hours total of 3 months stressing the login server for data, or have it crash for 6+ hours launch night because there wasn’t an accurate enough participation in their testing process.
It’s also hurting the game the more people don’t do following stress tests. Say for example you have 1 million people slamming log in in stress test 1, then in the second one only 800,000. It’s going to go 20% smoother. Their data will indicate the issues from before were resolved.
Stress test 3, the final one, you have 500,000 people trying. Data shows a 50% increase in success. The more numbers, the more accurate the test.
Blizzard if accounts haven’t played classic by now they don’t want to play it take them off and give it to those who will help test specifically the ones who played vanilla cause they might remember some stuff that would be useful. But I also think we should invite some from after cataclysm so they can learn and try to help
Well, no, because I still want the possibility of getting into he actual beta rather than the authentication failure test.
I don’t have one. People started getting all snarky because I expressed relief at the option finally being given to uninstall, an option that should have been there from the start.
No, it won’t. It might be there on the account but it won’t be installed.
It’s all in the same folder as far as game data is concerned. The only files in those ptr and classic_beta etc folders are the config files like the WTF folder for each client, etc. All the actual game data is in the one top-level Data folder. They did that for a reason, and the reason is that installing Classic (or the PTR) when you have Retail installed only means downloading a few GB, rather than 40GB+.
I agree completely with what you say. You are a person of wise words. But I am sure that blizzard tracks how many people actually log on during stress tests. But i still think if you get and invite to anything wow classic related you should do it because you have a privilege others can’t say they have.
No, no, no. LOL No. You absolutely do not deserve beta if you’re not willing to help in development. You literally just want to play the game and are the most despicable person of all. "I will only play for my enjoyment, screw the quality of the game and testing.’ Nope. This isn’t early access. Good bye.
We must have had different experiences. I had a lot of fun on the stress test, got tons of great screenshots and the boss spawning in cities was phenomenally fun.
I mean all I implied is that people who sign up for a test should want to test and you went all nuclear. Whatever
That first bit there lost them maximum respect with me. I can not stand people like that. Like I predicted, and have stated numerous times. People that don’t care about helping are the ones wanting to uninstall. Just proves my point. All they want is REAL beta so they can PLAY, not so they can actually contribute something beneficial.
I sincerely hope that if you uninstall you’re excluded from future testing, both stress and actual beta That’d be poetic justice. "Screw helping … oh wait… the cap is raised to 20? Okay I guess I’ll play.’ in which case they’re likely the kind of person that waits until after hours the stress test starts so they can avoid the crashing and just play for the sake of playing.
