Beta and stess test available but can't play

It was literally impossible to uninstall the beta once your access was revoked - even the Windows uninstall option in Apps simply threw up a dialog box saying “you must uninstall this from the Battlenet app”.

So lots of people like me had gigabytes of SSD tied up by this “dead” install of beta - can’t play it, can’t remove it. Remember, all the game data is smushed together in the one folder now - retail, PTR and Classic.

So this is a VERY welcome fix.

Go into your installation folder and hit delete? lolwut

Except to those who never had an intention of uninstalling and have been waiting with bated breath for any sliver of hope that we might be able to get in at all.

Up until this point, the expectation was that if you were given access to a beta client that meant you had access to a server either now or within a few days.

To be told, “no, it’s just so you can uninstall it” is the biggest tease I have ever experienced.

Go take a lookm at your installation folder and tell me where to find the ~3GB of Clkassic data files.

Okay, you just said “HAHA IT’S THE FOLDER NAMED CLASSIC_BETA” didn’t you?

Yup, and you’d be wrong.

As I said literally just above, ALL versions of the game put their data together in the same folder now. Without an uninstall option, you cannot remove one of them and keep the others.

lolwut indeed.

Nope. Literally hit delete on all the data files and re-installed my game. LITERALLY UNINSTALLABLE.

Of course. I’m not praising Blizzard on this one. It’s taken them weeks just to put the option in to uninstall if you don’t have access, something that should have been there from the start (and indeed, used to be via the Windows control panel, but they apparently removed that ability).

If I hit delete on the Data folder, I would have deleted retail and the PTR along with Classic in one hit, and that would have meant more than 60GB of re-downloading those clients.

Just to be contrarian. Never said it was to make it possible to uninstall.

You… I have a question. Why are you uninstalling a few days before the next stress test? Why?

And your love for me. Don’t forget that part! :hugs:

The post I was responding to did. “It was literally impossible to uninstall the beta once your access was revoked”

That’s true, and apparently I’m already stealing time from your husband by keeping you here in the forums  This forum love is strong.

Wow… thanks. Making it easier for us plebs to leave the beta for good since we’re not glorious streamers and all.

If you’re concerned about 3 gigs of files then it makes sense to do so. Literally uninstallable.

Because I won’t be participating. I’ve played Authentication Simulator 2.0 twice already, that was enough for my quota of fun :stuck_out_tongue:

And it was. You could uninstall ALL your wow clients, but it was impossible to uninstall just the classic beta.

I guess… I just find it hypocritical for people that want to play Classic to not participate in helping Classic be better. The stress test was given to you for a reason, not everyone got into it. The least we can do is spend 2 hours out of an entire month to help make the launch itself smoother…

He’s off doing something with his guild in some game that I don’t care about. FF something or another. blah. I made him dinner and didn’t poison him. He’s good for the night.

Yeah, it helps them improve things and also the .5 stress test went much better than the first I thought. I think the point of multiple stress tests is to improve on each one.

Ewww… I should probably play other games, but nothing is appealing now that I have the Classic addiction. I literally can’t peel myself away from the forums. I’ve tried. And then I see a thread like ‘This should be changed’ and I gear up for battle.

Or to fight poor communication ;o

Precisely. The only people I dislike more than the ‘wah I didn’t get beta so I won’t help stress test’ people are the ‘I got beta and I don’t even play it’ people…
