Best way to use XP potion?

Elixir of Ancient Knowledge. Increase experience gain by 300% for one hour. Doesn’t work above level 84.

Unclear whether that means 85 and up, or as soon as you ding 84. Depends whether the person who wrote that tooltip was thinking in whole numbers or real numbers. Seeing how it’s a MoP item, and MoP begins at level 85…but whatever.

I had 25 complete quests saved up, including ramparts/blood furnace. Then there was a handful of later Hellfire quests, Zangarmarsh quests, and Nagrand quests. I made sure to unlock the Kurenei rep, as well as escorting Khadgar’s servant around Shattrath to unlock Aldor/Scryer.

That’s because…I also had 10 marks of Kil’jaeden/Sargeras in my bags, as well as a Fel Armament. Additionally: 30 arakkoa feathers, 18 bog lord tendrils, 10 mature spore sacs, 10 glowcaps, 6 fertile spores, 10 oshu’gun crystal fragments, 3 pairs of ivory tusks, the quest that drops off the patrolling group of 3 elekk riders, and the howling wind quest drop.

Then you wanna turn quests in from lowest to highest level, so the XP doesn’t become obsolete.

I went from 66 to 72 off turn-ins, then quested fast as possible in Northrend to reach 76.

If I had it to do over again, I’d try and enlist someone to carry my butt through Ring of Blood and AoA. And I wouldn’t forget my Aldor turn-ins…

How did you guys use your XP potion?

I would assume it to mean integers (whole numbers), but I cannot confirm, as I don’t know.

There is a post on Wowhead that seems to suggest that that is the case…

“…since I hit 85 while the pot was active, I can tell you what happens - you just lose the buff a few seconds after dinging 85.”

It works at 84 and turns off at 85, exactly as the wowhead post described.

I use mine to skip as much of Cata as possible; hit 82, stack up Deepholm quests, drink potion, turn in quests and dungeon queue while continuing to quest between queues. It should last until 85.

From comments and what I remember form OG mop, a common way to minmax the potion is by parking your alt next to the daily pet trainer and doing the dailys on your main. Do the dailys, log onto your alt, turn them in, then log off to save the buff.
