I know BM hunter is super popular of course (likely with rdruid/priest), but isn’t survival really good too? Also, I’m starting to see Marksmanship in arena again…is it any good, or not worth it at all?

Survival is good, people just don’t want to play it because it requires atleast one wrinkle on the brain.

I have been seeing FAR more double dps teams with mm hunters in 2s and a crazy amount more in 3s playing thug, Mage/Hunter it crazy, they do like 5k dps st to people while being trained.
Hunter isn’t good in 2s don’t play it
Memes aside, survival is arguably the best 2s spec in the game atm. On EU 2s ladder the first 10 spots are just survival/rdruid players. It counters BM as well.
Just don’t see it as often cause it’s easier to turn off your brain and play BM for a literal free 2400 in 2s no joke.

What makes survival so strong?
I don’t play one nor do I heal one, but it pretty much has everything a BM hunter has and more. And it trucks, specifically venthyr survival. I hate healing into them, their pressure feels greater than BM at times.
Perhaps a hunter main can speak on it more, but it seems for 2s survival has pretty much everything, able to run stuff like undispellable trap, steel trap or the net for the root, muzzle silence, mending bandage + craven = gigatoxic countering so many annoying comps off the bat like sin/healer, feral/healer, spriest/x which you run into pretty frequently at higher rated 2s.
Not to mention the ability to counter the BM menace in 2s.
Just has the perfect 2s toolkit and damage, really.
It has good steady pressure and kill shot procs from venthyr chunk.
Arguably burstier than BM with bombs and also more ability to peel with option to have 2 roots/undispellable trap
significantly more fun and engaging from a rotational perspective than BM. I still like BM because I like kiting, but the damage is so boring lol
Survival can spread pressure in 2s better than BM. It has equivalent burst and more tools for control with roots and non-dispellable trap.
Survival can hard counter comps that give BM difficulty in 2s. (Warrior, rogues, and DHs are way easier to control and kill)
I can carry mediocre heals with survival way easier than BM.
