Best pvp gear for solo & casual

hi, I am a “casual” player playing only battlegrounds. I would like some advices on how I could get decent gear without having to play dungeons, raids, or arena.

p.d: reason why I don’t play raids/dungeons/arena is few times I played people seems to be a bit toxic, making fun of my gear and because I don’t understand all the game jargon. It is like everyone expects already geared and experienced people.

Yes, in a recreation of a 15 year old game, it is expected for you to have some knowledge or to at least attempt to understand what’s going on. Go to wowhead.com/wotlk , find the guide(s) for your class, and educate yourself.

Do wintergrasp, daily bg’s/call to arms, then down in the arena portion of dalarn, you can buy the season 1 arena gear for dirt cheap honor points (need like total of 30K). Wintergrasp also sells pvp gear for winergrasp marks of honor.

I mean this might sound toxic too but if you don’t even know how to acquire pvp gear in a 15 year old game. I would assume that not only is it your lack of skill why people don’t want to arena with you, but also the lack of any sort of commitment. If you can’t be bothered to solve how to get pvp gear, I would assume you aren’t putting any effort into how to handle arenas

hi - I forgot to mention that I know how to get honor vendor gear - my current GS is 4.1k and I bought only with daily arena points, and honor. I would like to know if this is the best I can get without having to play arenas or pve raids/dungeon. Someone else said wintergrasp which I was not aware you could use it for PVP.

Yes, it is, and Wintergrasp has deadly quality gear and next season it will have furious quality, so start saving up WG marks.

Off topic… Look at the disdainful “experts” coming here to post nonsense…

And you wonder why I am advocating for your arena gear to be available through honor.

Don’t worry, I wouldn’t want to be teamed up with a piece of garbage like you either.

Yep I put likes on your post in this thread and on the other one that was helpful.

I’d far prefer to see just general questions like this then some of what we get on here. There’s no harm in answering nicely.

That is funny that you replied to my post in the other at the same time as I was replying to yours. I’d far rather be helpful to new posters and show them that not everyone is as toxic as the types they have seen in game and continue to see on here.

You’re better than I for it.

I do get nasty out here, but only when I feel it calls for it.

Off topic, Was that your pally tank with a similar name that tanked UK the other day?

Nah… I have a pally on Grobb but it’s ally and not leveled past 60.

I love to run into forum people though (well the ones that I like which includes you). I would have said hi if that happened and I knew. Thanks for asking.

It’s the reason I didn’t say anything either, wasn’t sure if it was you but now I am, ty.

This actually happens to you? Whenever I’ve been in an instance, nobody cares at all if there’s someone lacking in gear or who doesn’t know what to do.

I forget their names now, but I think I’ve only really run into 2 people from the forums and that was in AV during WoW Classic…

Hey Frosto, welcome back!

I’ve run into people mostly in Classic BGs or sometimes same server people in pug raids. The most memorable was one of the frequent posters here (not naming) who bragged for 10 mins in one of those old ally AV cross server Discords about how funny it is to troll the forums. I was on an alt with that and this isn’t one of my favorite people let’s say so I didn’t say hi or anything.

Outside of that though I’ve run into enough people and that’s fun. Sometimes it’s an alt name that looks similar and I’m not sure. Like how Wafectus asked me. I’ve gotten to know a few forum people outside of the forums too which has been nice.

Other than the obvious hateful mainset and furious/deadly offset stuff it should also be kept in mind that BoE and crafted gear are excellent in pvp even if not technically “pvp gear”. If you are willing to farm gold then you can get yourself mutiple offset pieces that are arguably better than the furious offset pieces (depending on class/spec).

Also it isn’t solo but simply getting a buddy to do some super casual 2s games with until 1k~ in arena is going to accelerate your gearing incredibly quickly and give you access to weapons. Its very easy to do since you don’t really lose rating below 1k and gain almost 100 per win.

It might take a moment of raiding only, but voa sometimes has pvp items for all specs. I mean each daily and random gives 50 arena per day.

-Do hellfire towers every day (5500 honour in a few minutes). Park your char here during BGs and cap them if they’re flipped. A lot of people have flip alts so you could ask in trade “anyone flipping HFP towers?” take the portal from org to HFP and you’re there instantly.

-Do WG (fat honour) and do its weekly quests. I just do the Kill 10 people, kill 3 vehicles, and win WG quests. Use your first 25 WG tokens for a platinum disk trinket (for most classes)

-if you’re really min maxing, you can just afk a BG instantly if your team is clearly losing (Feels bad doing this, but if you need honour and have limited time then this is an option). Like if you clash mid in WSG and the kill board goes 0-10 in 20 seconds, and the enemies have a feral with an altcode name and vanilla ranking title, then you’re probably not winning that one.

-Check AH for cheap BOE epics from ULD (There’s some sick 232 stuff available for like 90g for most classes). You can enchant/gem these with resil. Also the 40 stam bracer enchant is pretty nice for new pvp alts.

-People are toxic in bg chat you’re right. I sometimes turn BG chat off if two nerds are flame-warring each other (you can make a transparent chat pane with no channels at all)

-Do 5v5 10 games per week, even if you go 1-9 from 0 rating you will receive around 600 arena points minimum. Do it on monday evening for fast queue pops

-You can get honour tokens (bound to account) from stone keeper shards, WG marks of honour , or a BOP one for arena points (Not a great idea in your situation but the choice is there). The cool thing about the BoA tokens is they work on a lowbie alt so he can get all the vanilla WSG/AB/HWL gear as he levels up. Never knew about these tokens until my buddy told me recently, credit goes to him

-You can in theory spend old emblems on hateful gear but it takes an insane amount of PVE to get a single piece, that you could get in 1-2 hours of BGs so I wouldn’t even bother with this route

-Do VoA25 every week since 3 piece furious drops there. (if your char is truly fresh, just wear the most inflated GS you can put together, no one will check you out) Tell people you just want to roll the pvp gear and it will help you get into runs

My alt just hit 80 last week, has 850 resil right now and 4.5k gs and has only done a naxx 10, zero heroics zero ULD or anything. Spent zero arena points. All hateful gear, honour off pieces, and AH gear. spent about 500g total including gems and ench. Has 5 hours /played at Lv80

Apologies for the long-ish post and i hope something here was helpful.

Personally i am banking 10k points on my alt for the end-of-season furious discount, because I think it’ll be fairly soon, I think the announce will come before I can bank 10k points. This is a guess on my part since Blizz as usual have zero communication

You can get a bunch of gear from doing bg’s but you’ll either be stuck with a crappy BoE weapon you buy off the AH or buy gold and pay for a weapon that drops from a raid since for some reason here we are all this time into wrath and can’t buy pvp weapons with honor still.

Wow… I didn’t expect that many good answers here. Thanks all! I have saved some gold so I’ll check AH for 232.

Regarding your question, I have played 2 arena (3 vs 3), we lost and they blamed me for losing twice and my gear - nothing that terrible but they were a bit toxic for sure.

About dungeon I found a group in the trade chat, they were nicer but they removed me from the party after inspecting my gear.

Maybe I should kept continue and trying other groups but for some weird reason those situations made me feel bad and anxious.

This happens sometimes at all levels of the game. For dungeons/raid if you are completely inexperienced I would recommend you watch some youtube videos on what to expect.

Arena tends to be more tense because of it being a really tough competitive game mode, don’t take it personally. Goal is to find someone with the same knowledge/gear level as you and learn through it together. You want someone who talks about their own play and mistakes more than yours and wants to get better themselves. Same goes for you.

What server are you on? If you are on benediction I can carry you to like 1600 in arena probably easy for your chest and some points and give you and outline on honor grind.

Mainly just get your furious off pieces, then the hateful stuff from the arena vendors for honor
