So for some reason I chose an iceclaw bear as my first pet. I really should have gotten a boar because the bear is just to slow. I’m level 36 now and want to get a new pet after I get my mount. What is the best overall pet in classic wow? Is it Broken tooth and if it is does he have a dash or charge ability?
I like to use boar for its charge…Borken tooth is nice for pvp though.

I’m using a turtle because I love that I can have my turtle use its shell ability to halve the damage it takes. Helps out a lot in the common and unexpected groups of enemies that jump us from time to time.
Owl or Buzzard. Screech for AoE pulls and Dive is good for pvp. Screech lowers attack and generates AoE threat, so it’s an amazing ability.

At your level a cat is best DPS and you can teach it dash. Broken tooth can learn dash. Cats cannot learn charge.
You will be solo pulling mobs most of the time so go with the highest dps. Boar is -10% DPS but have good armor and HP. They’re really tanky and eat anything.
The Rake is 2nd best to Broken tooth. The rake has 1.2 attack speed where BT has 1.0 attack speed.
Gorillas are good but higher level. Turtles are good if you want to try and AOE multiple mobs.
Wind serpents also hit hard and have a ranged attack.
Broken tooths main use is “Spell pushback” in pvp.
Owls are the best to use starting out but horde cannot get one until higher levels unless you make the crazy tripe as I did to Teldrasil at level 10. They get Screech to go along with Growl.

bats are super annoying audibly, if that’s your thing.
Oh those too, left them out by accident.
For leveling overall, I’d say boar. Tanky, charge is great for both pvp and pve, and you can feed it any type of food so you never have to worry about stocking up on a specific type in town
If you’re playing night elf on a pvp server, try cat. You basically become a ranged rogue with shadowmeld and your pet’s stealth
Owl sounds appealing but keep in mind you have to tame one of the vultures in Westfall if you want to learn Screech

I tamed Humar the Primelord not long ago. He is my best bud. He takes care of me and I take care of him. And his dps is great. I have had no problems with cats.
Hmm thank you everyone. Would it be worth switching to a boar right now? I don’t think there are any boars around level in the 30 to 40 range.
Best hunter pet would be functional FD but we aren’t getting that so…
I used a wolf for groups and wind snake for farming and BGs. I never bothered with a silly cat. Cats btw have dash. Only boars have charge.
Macro worked fine on both warriors that jumped on me earlier tonight.

I’m not a streamer and don’t record my gameplay because it isn’t interesting. Want the macro to test? You gotta spam the button, not just push it once.
Honestly, a cat is probably your best option at this point. Dash will allow them to run to mobs quickly and they do good dps.
You don’t need to bother camping for Brokentooth unless you want a pvp pet. The reason he is sought after is his highest in the game attack speed which causes pushback on casters in pvp.
