Sadly. Beast mastery is much better.
Itâs in keeping with the theme that playing Draenei on Alliance is supposed to be akin to playing Horde.
Hero NPCs frequently are multi-specced and multi-classed.
So Rexxar is Survival with a bit of Beastmaster mixe in.
Tyrande is a Priestess with a bi of Hunter.
Thrall is Warrior and Shaman
Khadgar wields all three specs of Magery at once.
Anduin Priest and Paldadin.
and so on.
And some donât fit the class structure at all; Gelbin for example. Theyâre usually the coolest characters, imo at least.
I understand that, but Survival being a melee spec didnât even begin until Legion (and did not launch with). Rexxar is the reason there is a Beastmaster spec in the game. The Mokânathal are famously beastmasters even.
Rexxar being a Survival Hunter follower is like introducing Jaina as an Arcane Mage follower.
Last I checked BM is third in a race of three in the Hunter DPS race, behind Marksman and Survival. Doesnât stop me from maining one though.
Yall sleeping on gilnean sharpshooters
Orc, troll and tauren are all hunter-gatherer societies so probably them. But youâre probably going to end up with an elf hero spec, womp womp.
There are nice looking mail pieces⌠Dragonstalker set (Old vs New in my case New is jus horrible), the Darkshoare Night Elf set, the Furious PVP set. and the armor Iâve gotten in War Within is good looking Hunter gear.
And with the High Arcana set from the trading post I can dress as a mage!
I mean lore-wise, every race is the best for Hunters, becasue they all have them in different shapes and forms. So itâs really down to preference. Mine are Mechgnome, Dwarf, and Worgen. I also really like the idea of Tauren Hunters.
Troll of course. Pure primitive voodoo lover hunter+magic race
Night Elves have the closest relations with nature and animals, and the only playable race in Warcraft 3 with an actual archer unit. Night Elves are the classic Hunter class.
Worgen naturally. Cursed by a wild god, with better hearing, sense of smell and stronger than your average humanoid.
Canât beat that
Theres just something about a Dwarf, a boomstick musket, and a bear
But the Alliance had Playable Dwarven Riflemen, so by that standard, they would also fit.
Also, there was a living Sylvanas ranger unit, as well as High Elven archers - playable or not, they were in game.
What exactly are the qualifications for âranger-themedâ? Better yet, whatâs a ranger?
My hunter is a mechagnome. I love the idea of a âtinkerâ type of character. So I only use mechanical pets and gnome style weaponry. The hero specs donât really jive with my mechagnome but I kind of put my own spin on them and pretend they arenât dark ranger or sentinel.
i understand why some people dislike the idea of, say, a dwarven dark ranger or w/e, but if iâm being honest, i just think itâs neat that you could roleplay a necromantic hunter at all, especially considering how many undead pets there are. does it make the most sense thematically for a given race? no. is it still cool? opinions may vary, but the correct one is âyes.â
Fair point with Dwarf Rifleman. As for the High Elves, that is why I specified playable, as High Elf archers were simply reskins.
With that being said, I donât think it can be argued that Night Elves are the most naturalist of those races. They make the most sense as Hunters, at least in the context in which the hunter class is portrayed in-game.
Moving away from the Hunter Class itself, I think there is more room for discussion. âHow different WoW-cultures huntâ being a whole new conversation.
Years ago the official hunter class page featured a scantily-clad Night Elf huntress displayed quite prominently. As a kid, my little brother walked in and was disgusted by it. I guess thatâs the most iconic race according to Blizzard.
