There’s definitely a group of devs at Blizzard who absolutely love draenei. Like the amount of love they put into the draenei heritage quest is huge. Or even the recent hearthstone expansion went all out developing draenei stuff.
And then there’s the other devs. who don’t want draenei to do anything ever and we haven’t seen draenei as part of the main story since Legion just like draenei got nothing between BC and WoD.
I know elves are liked by most people but most hunter gear is not ranger themed at all.
They are all so different, and cool in their own ways.
Elf Hunters definitely have the most lore and appearances and big name characters. The Windrunner Sisters, the High/Blood Elf Rangers, Shandris,
Rexxar is definitely the coolest individual Hunter- and Misha has got to be the coolest Hunter pet. But he doesn’t really speak to a culture of Hunters, he is his own thing.

Hunter gear looks horrible, and mail is the worst in general. Usually looks like tie dye with a big skull on one shoulder, or an eye, or some grotesque body part.
Thank god for the random stuff you can transmog over any armor type.
I have many hunters and I deffo use my troll the most.
The lame part is they are almost exclusively marksman hunters.
Luckily, Lor’themar appears to be Survival.
Mail varies. The Molten Core hunter gear looked like Jeremy Clarkson had designed a wearable skycrane, but the Darkshore Warfront armor is one of my favorite transmog sets.

I made my Blood Elf a Dracthyr, to take advantage of the customizations.
As a Blood Elf Player might
Dracthyr have better in game customizations, even if the Forum Avatar does not match.
Namely , mustaches without chin hair
I might go back to Blood Elf, if Blizzard releases the chinhairless-mustache for Blood Elves, in the future

Rangers really should be more survival than marksmen, but Blizzard turned survival into the weird melee that throws bombs at their own feet.
I may be biased, but I am partial to mechgnomes with guns and mechanical pets. It just fits.

But, I won’t try to argue that Mechagnome Hunters are the most cool. People have their own ideas of what is cool.
I have a blast with my Mechagnome Hunter. Mechagnomes have decent Racials, and they fit the whole “tech vs the world” vibe
Maybe a Vulpera Tinker will rival a Mechagnome for my favor, should Tinkers become a class

Survival? Rexxar is Beastmaster.
I’m glad both groups exist tbh. They both in their own way prevent extreme butchering of their lore like some other groups have been through.
He uses a spear and only has one pet.
I also believe he was listed as Survival in the Order Hall as well.
That’s kinda hilarious (that they made him a Survival Hunter in the Order Hall, I mean). He dual wields axes, but he has always had a stable of pets. He was the genesis of Beastmaster as a Hunter spec, actually, as he was the WC3:TFT Beastmaster Hero unit.
Elven hunters who aren’t Marksmanship specced are the exception.
