Druids also fit the theme of “peace and harmony”, that doesn’t mean they fill the role of a bard lol.
Maybe, maybe not

Its not that the theme is hated it’s that players who enjoy true supports are just smaller. Considering the breadth of specs in wow we already have most niche styles covered.
People in general don’t like being the guy who primarily/only helps others. Who would have thought.
Demon Hunters and DKs were safe bets because thematically they are generally appealing to people who enjoy fantasy genres.
DKs specifically was just a no-brainer.
I can’t see any positives to bringing in 3 more specs to balance, for like a 1-3% minority of players to play.
It WILL be less than Monks.
In a Perfect world I think Bards would be fun to have in the roster, i just don’t think it’s a safe choice on Blizzard’s end.
They already struggle at balancing the current roster. Is sacrificing more balance quality worth bringing in a new class that hardly anyone will have any interest in? Heck no.
BUT, if the company ever manages to hire a competent balance team again, I would say yes, Bards would be cool to have around.
Just doesn’t seem realistic anytime soon though.
Tinker just comes off as- easier.
Generally more desirable to the player base.
More versatile.
Better investment decision.
Honestly, they have too many classes. I’d like to see some additional specs for existing classes, I.e Shaman tank.
I know a lot of people want a Bard, but when I think of a Bard I think of a bow user who plays a harp and buffs the party with songs. We already have a bow user and devs have been trying to steer away from active raid wide buffs. Lust/Hero and some shaman totems are really all we have.
Also when I picture a Bard I see someone who is energetic and joyful, singing and dancing. So they would have a lot of animation when they play their songs to buff the party. WoW animations are far too bland and still to have a Bard
Earth style shaman. What would it be called?
Primalist? I dunno.
I agree though. More specs, better polishing of current specs.
They can. But why when it will inspire players to level new toons. As long as there is one or a few on top there will be many that reroll to those meta classes. That equals more time played and more money.
I don’t care much on what class as long as there in a new one soonish. Tinker, gun type build does sound good to rival the hunter.
Lol @ people who think they will add another class
Probably another DH spec that will cannibalize more lock spells.
Dude I literally don’t care lol. The thread is about what class we’d want to see next and I want to see a bard. I’m not going to argue with you about what makes the most sense
Depends if 10.0 is a desperation expansion or not.
If so, expect something ultra edgy, broken and overly flashy. My guess would be “redeemed” Dark Rangers
There’s no next class…this expansion. That’s my guess.
The new class is called the “Shareholder”, and they will be OP, unkillable and possess powers far greater then anything known to the game. Every player will need to bow to the Shareholder class or have their account deleted. There will be shrines erected to the Shareholder class and players and Blizzard employees will be thrown into a fire pit as sacrifices to the almighty overlords.
If you don’t think there will (or should, which is the angle I normally take) be any new classes, just remember, that’s not up to the devs.
A new class is a marketing tool - it sells expansions. The developers will be mandated to bring a new class in, especially if an expansion looks weak otherwise. Besides, they’re not going to get away with another expansion that fails to add either a new class or a new race twice in a row, especially since they bunted to hard on the promised customization.
Maybe 10.0 will bring new races instead, but the idea that they’re not going to bring in new classes (even though, again, they mechanically shouldn’t) when those are a key sales driver is… not realistic, I’m afraid.
Won’t be a new class if retails ends at the end of SL. I think Blizzard will continue on with Classic. Cost them NOTHING as it will be all recycled content and move on from there.
They can’t balance the stuff we have now at a reasonable level. I’d prefer they didn’t add more classes / specs into the mix…
But if they do, please let it be a ranged/ caster. We have enough melee classes for this game’s lifetime. A mechanist / tinker would fit fairly well into WoWs current lore.
I think it will be an Accountant. Its role in a group will to make sure you are maximizing your player engagement in that piece of content.
Main spells:
-Spreadsheet: Overwhelms the target with useless information. Can be cast on friendly targets too.
-Audit: Causes the target to become paralyzed in fear and paperwork.
-Balance the Books: Sets the target health to 50%. Regardless of where the
health started. Can be cast on friendly targets.
-Commission: A buff that causes damage caused by other sources to be counted as if the Accountant did it.
-Inflation: Buff that increases damage and healing.
-Deflation: Buff that decreases damage and healing.
-Invoice: Get a sum of gold from the target equal to the current cost needed to repair the casters gear. If the target does not have enough, they get the Debtor’s Prison debuff which limits their abilities until they can raise the needed money.
-Junk Bonds: A completely RNG spell that can either heal or do damage. This applies to friendly and hostile targets. The amount of healing done can be 0 - 100%. The amount of damage done can also be 0 to 100%. Whether it heals or harms the target (again hostile or friendly) is random.
-Leverage: A cooldown type spell that gives you a big boost of healing or damage now, but will give you a debuff that then reduces your healing and damage for a short time.
-Merger: Cause two players to merge into one mega player for a short time. They can each still cast spells and abilities, and their output is increased for a short while. Eventually they will be broken back up, and some of their gold will be missing.
-Speculation: A cool down ability that may kill all enemies in a 15 yard radius, or it may do nothing but make all your other cooldowns unavailable for twice their normal duration.
You get the idea…
I bet all of my WoW Forum Money on Artificer (Tinker).
-Fits well with the lore.
-Tons of customization potential.
-Could easily fill 3 roles.
-Uses underutilized armor type (mail).
-TURRETS!!!
Does the class need to fit thematically with the expansion it comes with? if so what would be the Tinker/Expac?
Could even be Shadow lands.
All you have to do is bring the Goblin+Gnome factions to the front lines.
I don’t think they are going to make any new classes but Bard, Illusionist, and Necromancer are the most reasonable fits for the game.
