Dark Rangers aren’t really edgy, they’re more melancholy.
Man, do I ever have the thread for you!
I mean the classes weren’t balanced when we got DKs, Monks and DH. Seems they can’t or wont balance to be a bit closer either way I’d rather get a new class to play around with than not.
Unless we are all cubes with sticks that do equal damage and all health and equalized and all other stats are removed… balance will never be achieved.
It’s a journey, not a destination.
Haha! Yeah, I saw that one go by.
I don’t really know which class they’ll go with next. Those are just the three that always get mentioned.
Stirring the pot?
A little.
But honestly, I don’t think any of them would be great choices.
Necromancers are a trash-tier class in the WarCraft setting (fantastic elsewhere!) that has only ever served as a stepping stone to greater powers, including those of the Warlock, Death Knight, or Lich.
Bards have a solid theme, but there’s no precedent in WarCraft, and the support role - just as integral to Bards as Healing is to Priests - no longer exists in WoW. Their implementation would be a mockery of the class.
Tinkers could potentially be a contender, but we’d need an appropriately thematic expansion to introduce them. Are you down for two years of Goblins vs. Gnomes? I think not. The steampunk/scifi theme the class works as something on the periphery… it can’t survive the limelight. It’s fun when its a sideshow, but a betrayal of WoW’s core themes when focused upon.
Other classes, like Spellbreaker or Dark Ranger or Shadow Hunter, are simply too narrow in scope to work.
That’s why I like the Dragonsworn idea. Because:
- I like dragons.
- It explores the draconic lore that has been an element of the universe since WarCraft II, but not wholly embraced by any existing playable option.
- It gives the developers a blank slate, free of preconceived notions, to do whatever they want to with. Outside of making sure we have a dragon breath attack, they can unleash their creativity, and get a class made, from the group up, for the modern incarnation of WoW.
Man all I would ever want is a Battlemage.
A Plate wearing mage with one ranged DPS spec that use spells, one Melee DPS spec and maybe one tank spec.
Maybe sounds a little too similar to Enhance shaman but less limited on race options I guess.
Yes, so what I’m saying is Legion was fine because that’s the class xpac.
But to introduce a new class now means at the very least that class doesn’t get artifacts or a Legion campaign for the few people who would choose Legion as their levelling path.
Let’s roll that into Dragonsworn. Blue-spec could be that mail-wearing, ranged-focused battle-caster, Bronze-spec could take the lead on the melee damage, working in things like delayed damage and time-based mirror images, and toss in warglaives for good measure.
shaman tank /s
Yeah I think that is the concept behind enhancement shaman? But it never really feels like it works. I mean the class can be effective in the game but it doesn’t feel right to me. Its neither fish nor fowl, and the mix doesn’t really work.
Mail Tinker Dps - Heal - Tank spec.
At the very least the class should be Mail. Mail needs a new aesthetic.
The minute I hear that a Bard class is being added to the game, I am going to create a placeholder character and name it Spoony so I have that name locked down.
If there’s a new class, Necromancer makes the most sense. It’s a unplayable class that has been seen in the game often.
Tinkerer would be next because you could make an argument that some of the gnomes and goblins are Tinkerers.
I’ve only seen one Bard in game in the rogue class order hall in legion. Maybe there another but i haven’t seen it.
Class that can be a dragon. With all specs, like:
Black Dragons - Tank
Green - Healer
Blue - range damage dealer
Bronze - range damage dealer
Red - Healer
Well no melee damage dealers, game already have enough of them.
They can switch between “human” form and dragon form. They are always in dragon form during combat (with reduced size ofc) or they can switch like MoP demon lock mechanically (metamorphosis).
Because the strength of the Enhancement fantasy came from its role as an offensive support. They gutted the support role, and the class - especially Enhancement - has felt empty ever since.
Whats the difference between Necro and Warlock? Is it only that Warlocks summon demons and Necros summon undead? Is that enough of a distinction?
It goes deeper than that. As demonstrated here:
https://wow.gamepedia.com/Rakmar_Sharpfang
Necromancers are trash-tier relative to Warlocks. When Orcish Necromancers found themselves unable to adapt and become Warlocks, they were used as soul fodder by the Warlocks to create Death Knights - another superior class.
There is a lot of crossover in concept at present, yeah. If a necro class was added, it would have to adjust the Warlock to be more specifically demon- and soul- focused and less on life draining etc. Similarly, Shadow Priests and Death Knights would need tweaking.
Kind of like how they scavenged abilities from several other classes to give the Demon Hunters.
im guessing tinker as it allows them to add the one thing people have been asking for with new classes, a ranged dps spec, while also allowing for all the other roles depending on how they decide it plays.
seen interesting ideas such as mech suit tank
turret building melee dps
alchemy based healing spec
ect ect, theres just so many ways to go that it’d be hard to not make the specs unique.
