Best fishing pole?

So does anyone know, which fishing pole is best?
The obvious answer is going to be this one, the blue crafting fishing pole from Dragon isle which is +15 fishing and +90 Perception https://www.wowhead.com/item=198226/khazgorite-fisherfriend

But do we have any information on how much perception effects catch rate or catching of rare fish vs raw bonus to fishing skill?
For example would a +15 fishing skill pole be better then a + 7 fishing skill pole with +80 Perception?

The answer is the kaluak fishing pole. It lets me breathe underwater. I don’t need. I don’t really want it. But i caaaaan

The only Profession secondary stat that’s been found to apply to Fishing is Perception, and one way you can build this is through the Fishing Poles Draconium Fisherfriend and Khaz’gorite Fisherfriend. Perception gives you a greater chance to fish up rare items. You can also use Crystalline Phial of Perception; if you aren’t an Alchemist, you can get these through Crafting Orders.

Perception is huge when you’re trying to find upgrade items for fishing nets and harpoons that you’ll learn to make through Iskaara Tuskarr reputation.

Dunno if this will help at all

Kinda helps, still leaves me wondering though, what has a bigget stat weight raw fishing skill or perception.

Isn’t BiS pole still the +25 STV pre cata pole?

Arcanite Fishing Pole

its only +14 on retail.

Apparently even the Fishing Poles get stat squished.

Here is the dilemma im having.

Whats better +6 fishing? or +32 perception?

That’s it ? Legion Artifact fishing pole transforms you into a fish and you can walk on water !

And reduces the aggro range of mobs.

If you’re at capped fishing skill, does buffing your fishing skill do anything more than increasing your chances at fishing up rare items? I’ve tried to look around and that’s the only description of increased fishing skill I’ve found. It sounds like maybe perception and fishing skill buff the same thing, and with the inclusion of perception it’s just a greater buff to fishing up rare items.

Thats what i have come to the conclusion as well, but where im wondering is, which has more weight to it? Perception? or Skill?

Is the calculation for fishing up things out there somewhere?

No look

I cant look

I’ve been looking around but have yet to find any stat weights. I’m gonna take a shot in the dark and say that items with perception are probably better, even if another item has more fishing skill. Especially because fishing up rare items seems important to DF fishing, so it makes sense that DF fishing items would have higher stat weights for fishing up rare items.

slowly unzips

Going only by aesthetics, the Underlight Angler is very nice.

My personal favorite, is the Savage Fishing Pole from Nat Pagle in Draenor.

As for the question posted in the OP, I Imagine the blue fishing pole from engineering helps you get the rarer stuff, more coins, maybe a quicker path to the Tuskarr ingredients to update the harpoon and net? While the older poles it’s all just a flat drop rate without the added perception stat.

I wish there was a special Engineering crafted add-on that granted +perception to a non-Dragonflight fishing pole so we could use those instead of the “fisherfriend” fishing poles. I’d just prefer to use the legendary one, but had to replace it with a blue one, as perception is too good.

Oh, and it would have to stack with the +perception Enchant. That way no one is out of a job: you’d still need to go to an Engineer to get the upgrade, and they could even make it cost more than the fisherfriend rods, just because, and it wouldn’t destroy the Enchanting market for tool enchants.
