Best class for a solo player?

I think the best for solo play is Hunter, Pally, Druid, and Shaman.

For the best solo class let me recommend not playing a MMORPG

I used to go with hunter but nowadays tanks are just better in every way. Like other people pointed out any class and spec does well but it depends on what you’re trying to do. If you’re for example leveling up a something in the next expansion and right away try to do some raids in DF you might run into problems depending on what class you picked(and how late in the expansion you are).

What spec is the best for rogue solo and group content? (I’m new to the game and am interested in playing rogue).

Death knight. We’re the ultimate loners. Except Bolvar. He apparently still has a family.

Mine all died to Arthas. Revenge sustains me

Hunter is the easiest, but Warlocks (especially Demo) are more fun!
Though, Blizz really needs to look at the VW’s threat when it comes to Destro as it’s currently too easy to steal aggro from him.

It doesn’t matter much tbh. Stealth, vanish, cloak of shadows, evasion are the nice things all 3 specs get. I’d say subtlety if you like finesse specs. I enjoy dot classes so I like sin although I pref sub in PvP. I haven’t played outlaw since it was called combat but I’m sure it does just fine. If you’re leveling one, I’d try all 3 out.

Guardian Druid. Ez to play if you want to keep the rotation simple and fun, I am biased.

Personally, Druid…even though I dislike all four specs.
It has movement advantage, stealth and a tank spec in case you need something a little tougher to get the job done

But for fun play, Unholy, Beastmaster and demology are better

I’ve found MM Hunter with a tanking pet.

Basically any class that can tank or has an aggro pet. Avoid the pure dps classs without a pet like the plague.

Well, the things you are looking for when doing solo content is self heals (or pet heals), damage output, survivability, movement skills.

Druid: Guardian is the best of all worlds. The only holdback is damage output, but even that’s not bad.

Pally: Almost as good as Guardian Druid. Beastly damage as well… Only reason it’s behind GD is the lack of stealth and flight form.

Monk: Windwalker is a fast moving, self healing ball of butcher blades.

BM Hunter / Warlock: Pet classes, yeah, you may be squishy, but if your getting hit, your doing it wrong.

Shaman: Tons of variety in just useful tricks when you’re on your own, elementals, extra hearths, Ankh, self heal, ghost wolf. A swiss army knife of soloing tools.

Just my 2 copper…

For solo play, my tier list would be something like this (with the understanding that I haven’t played a tank. Just don’t like them.)

BM hunter, Demo lock, both really strong. Your pets NEVER lose aggro because THEY do the majority of tour damage.

Then, all other hunters and locks. About as strong as the two above, but you can pull aggro off the pet, now and then. I would say locks are a bit better than hunters because void walkers have an AOE aggro that will hold multiple mobs, and hunter pets are not as good at this.

Everything else, except mages each have their own advantages and drawbacks, but are good.

Mages are cool, but not for the new, or faint of heart. You really need to know how to play them to keep from dying. Mages seem to have been made to be in a group with a tank and healer.

I would have to say Paladin.

Just keep a 2-hander, along with a sword and board, and swap between the two specs as needed.

Ret will let you solo most stuff, but if you run into something you can’t quite handle, Prot will handle it easily.

I did a +8 delve earlier with 576 gear, it was rough, but I managed it as a Ret. They recommend 600, which is a huge disparity.

WW monk is lots of fun, and can rip through things fast. I have died a few times, but not too often, can even solo quite a few elites. Enhancement Shaman is also good. I mainly play solo, quests, delves and the like. I came back to this game recently, after having been gone since Lich King.

Obviously Hunter. Apart from the tank pet, you get Camouflage and Play Dead, which can help a lot. Ret is good, but it can’t sneak past mobs or opt out of a fight.

Death knight is better at soloing than paladin.

It doesn’t need to opt out of a fight.

If you get into a fight with something, you just kill the stupid thing and move on.

It also helps that Ret is an easy to learn spec that has enough nuances to keep it interesting, but pretty much anybody capable of turning a computer on can play it to some competency and it has some extremely potent survival kit.

Hunter, however… my beef with BM hunter, is that pets don’t always save you and there are times when you do get hit, and when you do get hit, all you have for self-heal is a piddly 20% per 3 minutes or something stupid like that (it’s been awhile).

There are some caster mobs that ignore pet aggro and cast at you, and these are almost impossible to defeat if you can’t find something to LoS their casts with because you have no chance of out-healing the damage they do with said spells.

Frost DK? Not a chance. Not even close. Your only self-heal is Death Strike which is only good if you get a kill worth XP or honor otherwise it barely heals anything. Oh, and Death Strike is a huge DPS loss for you.

Blood DK? You do a fraction of the damage a Ret can.

Meanwhile, that Ret can heal himself every 3rd attack (that’s not even counting Divine Purpose procs!) until he runs out of mana which takes… quite awhile. And then he still has Lay on Hands after that. Along with a strong bubble, AND a 20% damage mitigation button.

And if all that weren’t enough, he’s also got a CC, and a Stun. Maybe multiple depending on talents.

Killing things takes time, and when you’ve already killed all the mods a quest requires, why waste time killing more? Moving on is what a Hunter does.

Ret isn’t invincible and can be overwhelmed, with no option other than to fight and possibly die, necessitating a long flight back from a graveyard 500+ yards away.

Pet control is a key part of playing a Hunter, and apart from the self-heal, there’s also Turtle.

That’s more player error than anything wrong with the class. If you get overwhelmed as a Ret, yes, you need to understand that while you are in control of someone who looks like a god, you are in fact not a god even if you are pretty darn close to a demigod at that point, lol.

But in normal play and normal situations, you should not be dying as a Ret, like at all. Unless you just plain pull too much.

So… get up and pull less.

As for “long flight from a GY 500+ yards away” … again, why are you dying outdoors? How are you dying outdoors? Unless you, like, take on a level 80 rare <75 or something stupid like that.

All the defense in the world doesn’t mean anything if you get slowly worn down with no way to recover lost health.

And what gets me is that they added self-heal to the hero talents… oh wait, it heals <1% of your health every 20 seconds. Like what in the actual frick was the purpose of even adding that?
