I’m a returning player that hasn’t really touched WoW since before DF season 1. I spend most of my time in-game doing solo content and I am wondering what the communities suggestions would be for a good solo class? I know the obvious pick has always been hunter but curious what some other classes would bring to the table.
But if you’re wanting something a little more in-depth than BM I would recommend Demo Warlock. Great kit, has a pet that can front a lot of damage for you, fun rotation.
Destruction is super easy and often very powerful too if you want to spec-swap to keep things fresh.
If you’re wanting Melee then others are suggesting Ret. I would also throw Frost DK into that pool.
My take would be Warlock or Hunter as I like range. Tanks are nice but since their dps is low in lower levels it gets slow. However, classes that got both dps and tank modes (pallies, monks, druids, warriors, DHs) are also good. Ret pallies are tankies by themselves.
Druids, specifically bear. This way you can also dip into all roles and most play styles, and typically 2/4 if not 3/4 of the druid specs are in good spots most of the time. Plus who doesnt like to be a bear at some point in life xD
For solo content made easy really its going to be every class with the exception of Mage, and maybe Priest or Shaman (I don’t play my shaman much). If the class has a pet (Lock, hunter) or can tank you will be able to do ANYTHING. Tank damage is insane at the moment so if you have something difficult just swap specs then delete whatever it is. So needing a pet has been left in the old days.
As a fellow solo player, Druid.
*No matter what spec you choose, you will always have access to cat form and that means stealth.
*Heals
*Instant flight form
*Flight form and water form switch automatically when entering/exiting water
BM Hunter also allows you to take on tougher mobs solo than many other classes. Plus BM Hunter is arguably the best class in the game for farming legacy content with a combination of movement speed, a tanky pet and Multi-Shot, which just deletes everything. At range.
I really like how Ret plays. It’s simple and feels good. Additionally, Pallys can play Prot as a tank, which is infinitely easier to queue group content for than DPS and Prot is easy to play, or they can be a healer.
Druid is a contender too, Guardian is super easy to play if you want to tank and YMMV but I don’t enjoy either of the DPS spsecs. It’s also very fiddly with all the shape shifting and setting up your bars correctly.
Still, the ability to stealth through a dungeon is situationally superb for farming legacy content. Plus instant cast Travel Form is fantastic.
Been maining this WW monk here since MoP, have had little to no issues questing, leveling and doing minimal other things, not counting dungeons or raids. I get to punch and kick things, have the touch of death thing that takes out a mob or two pretty quick, a couple interrupts and I can heal myself. I do die sometimes, but usually because I’m not paying attention.
