Benthiccc was good, execution was not

Don’t take the bait!!! <3

The first stat squish was necessary because the game simply couldn’t handle larger numbers. Now it can, but they keep squishing because of people who are scared of larger numbers. Which apparently even means three digit numbers going by the level squish coming in Shadowlands.

The name is not the item. Get over it.

Don’t need Ship of Theseus to understand that a Toyota with a Cadillac logo IS NOT a Cadillac.

The traits are a different argument. Entirely different. The AP numerical grind is what people dislike.

Azerite traits themselves would be fine if you weren’t destroying the gear because one trait didn’t have what you needed.

I explained it thoroughly and judging from the above, you haven’t understood it.

Last I checked we were on a public forum the entire time.

The name is what defines the item. It is what separates the item from other items.

You’re the one who keeps arguing that a Toyota with a Cadillac logo has magically become a Cadillac.

And the traits are what I was asking about. Then you brought up AP on your own.

And if Blizzard hadn’t abandoned any pretense of balancing them after the first couple months.

Or you haven’t explained it nearly as thoroughly as you imagined.

And? You’re still gossiping about me and attacking me instead of my arguments. That is if you can remember what my arguments are in your haste to keep belittling me for not being a psychic and being able to figure out what you really meant.

Good night!

I see you’ve given up any attempt at explaining yourself. Must be a real solid argument if you can’t back it up at all.

NOOOO!!! I said don’t take the bait. Now you’re sucked into the void of ignorance with a troll dude. Get out fast!

Benthic gear should have been crafted by Professions, and then upgradeable via pearls – and have their sockets & effects moved to the raid. That way professions would somewhat matter, there’d be some sort of economy resurgence, and there would be gear to look forward to in the raid.

Doing world quests for best in slot this entire patch was ridiculous.

BiS for raiding should drop from raiding.

Raid DPS about doubles every tier of raiding.

Pass, not interested.

Okay, so adjust what I said before: you go to the next raid tier and you do about 50dps, then by the time you are done gearing up in the raid you would do around 100dps again.

Signed. A great many complaints about benthic gear could be addressed simply by disabling the bonus effects in a raid and removing the ability to roll a gem slot.

Anyone can look at my profile and see this is not a raider by any stretch of the imagination, and even I could see how bogus some of the effects were for raid groups. Non raiders weren’t going to give a rat’s *** about the gear having bonus effects in Eternal Palace and raiders were always going to feel obligated to be the best they can be in the raid by grinding out endless amounts of manapearls.

Something like extra damage in the raid being rolled on what is essentially boosted world quest gear never should have made it out of testing, but hey at least Blizzard seems to have learned from this totally avoidable mistake.

I never even minded this - it was only on 3 slots and the amount of guilds able to get aotc or ce isn’t inflated.

I personally like that i had another way to get decent gear for progression than a weekly casino.

That’s already what we have now, you’ve changed nothing.

A lot of raiders minded that they had to grind the pearls up and play roulette to get the proper pieces with sockets in order to be competitive in the parse meta and that the pieces were so inflated for hard progression kills with tight enrages, of which every fight post 3/8M seems to be, each with a good bump in the required raid DPS. EP was pretty brutal on the DPS optimization front from Ashvane (who received a lot of nerfs post HoF) to Azshara.

Most of the mythic raiders i know that push for progression on both horde and alliance didn’t mind it. Like i said, it was just another rng Avenue for upgrades.

I’ve always wondered how many benthic pieces the top guilds had on their first kills in mythic.

I don’t like the content-specific bonus effects. At least not for raiding.

Give raids gear that have bonus effects, period.

Raiding requires an extra level of dedication (mostly via scheduling) and coordination (ie: the reason raids are hard – getting 10-30 people on the same page on the same pull without any major mistakes while also still maintaining their personal throughput) that no other content does to the same extent.

It deserves to have that little bonus that’s relevant outside of it’s own sphere. Otherwise, there’s no reason to raid at all. Especially with M+ scaling to +15 next patch.

(No, I’m not saying +15 is easy, it’s not, but almost everything before it is, and comparable levels of raiding are almost always tougher and less rewarding)

Being in an actual guild that has had Azshara on farm for a while, I can tell you about everyone did mind. They did it, but they minded that the BiS gear needed to push the fights was something you got for essentially world solo play.

Quite a few, socketed and leveled. I doubt you’ll find a first kill of Orgozoa and Za’qul before HoF close that were done without full raids with the belts for instance.

Are there any links available to the boss kills from the first 1-2 weeks?
