No, Ion does not want an alternate gearing system. PvE and PvP gear is now the same so they want to use that to funnel players through content.
We need separate PvP gear again, but that’s clearly too much work and killing off PvP vendors ended it for me. I want clear PvP gear progression like we used to have.

Honestly? There’s not really a difference between PvE and PvP gear these days. I’d like to see resil brought back someday so it actually feels like PvPing for PvP gear matters again.

One step at a time. I really don’t mind that my gear works in both pve and pvp. It just sucks that my primary gearing method is far faster in pve than pvp.

I do code for a living and I will tell you that building an entirely new system and UI (which they did for the conquest bar) takes way more coding resources, than simply using what has been in the game for over a decade.
Also, PvP gearing feel horrible right now. The changes made things worse. Having a vendor was much better.
I would trade getting a weapon on week 2 and having a vendor over getting a weapon on week 1 and no vendor. In fact, I only get half my weapon because I need MH/OH, which I used to be able to get earlier, but now I have to wait 10 weeks? Crap. Also, sometimes I don’t need a weapon but I need a trinket, or helm. All this is lost.
I don’t want to do WQ’s anymore, they got tedious for me very quickly, even in the new zones. You know what content has not gotten tedious after 14 years? BG’s. Please bring back vendors so I can BG to gear for BG’s.

Resilience, yes. Pvp power was kind of wonky since you didn’t have much of it at all when leveling through bg’s and it made the imbalance incredibly noticeable.

I mean I would be fine with resilience being brought back but my argument right now is just for a benthic like system for pvp.
I’ve been quoted and appreciate that. I’m gonna add onto my statement by saying that the PvP gear needs to be unique, and advantageous for PvP for there to even merit a new system to obtain PvP gear.
I got all my PvP gear in Mythic+. And…
The Benthic system for PvP right now is… the Benthic system. It wouldn’t make any sense to have 2 systems for statistically similar gear that universally works in both playstyles.

Did you earn that benthic gear and pearls via pvp or pve activities?
I did it in war mode. I’m literally just saying it’s useless to have 2 different systems to get the same gear, so they’d need to make PvP gear unique again.

If you want to call flying around doing pve world quests with warmode on “pvp” then by all means.
I wouldn’t mind if they brought back resil. In the past I carried 2-3 sets of gear and didn’t care. I could do so again if that meant getting pvp vendors.
War mode is fun, but still just WQ’s…
What if PvP actually gave pearls? Just as a stop gap until we get real PvP vendors again.

You have to farm that gear through pve. There is a pvp currency we earn through pvp that should have a vendor.

I don’t disagree with that, but PvP gear should be unique again. If it’s not, it just becomes another alternative gearing path that PvE players will probably complain about feeling mandatory because “PvP gives the best gear, why do I have to do bgs to get ready to raid?”.
Just add resil back to pvp gear, and I’d literally be game for any separate system dedicated to PvP gearing similar to Benthic, or vendors, or anything unique to PvPing.
I understand that sentiment.
I also understand why blizzard removed pvp specific stats. It does feel less than ideal having to carry around multiple sets of gear for multiple aspects of the game in addition to different sets based on your current spec. It discourages crossover. I get that.
The main problem is that pvp gearing is pretty much useless unless you can get 2100/2400 rating. Even then it’s still super slow and in most cases isn’t even the best gear. Proc gear was required for the classes that had access to it last season. Void Stone was required for healers. Even just limited itemization is forcing certain specs to gear completely through PVE. look at any high rated subtlety rogue and you’ll see almost exclusively PvE gear because it’s the only gear that has both versatility/mastery for secondary stats. So a pretty much PvP only spec is forced to PvE in order to be functional in PvP. Good times.

Yet we have the azerite system. Ya know, no one really had a problem with that until retroactive claims were made after they removed the pvp gear.

resil is kind of pointless, versatility is basically just resilience but better. What they should do is what they did in WoD and just have the elite pvp items be like 10 ilvl lower than mythic and then increase by 20ilvl in pvp. Mythic raiders would still be competitive and not too far behind strict pvp’ers (and vice versa), yet pvp gear would only be bis in pvp

Why are my bags full of azerite pieces? I still need different gear for different aspects of the game, because what is important in PvP is not necessarily the same as PVE.
