I think in most places we are aligned. I donât like TF, I donât like RNG. I want a piece that I get to be BiS, but I also want my BiS to come as a reward from the hardest content.
If I could upgrade benthic another 5-15 ilvl from currency from heroic and mythic raids, that would be great, because I earned my BiS outside of mindlessly farming rares on my alts.
The damage proc peices are likely gonna get toned down a bit.
I believe the cloth? gloves or bracers that can do either damage or healing can be intercepted by people in raid so that one is being simulated at a value higher than youâll get in raid.
In average scenarios the normal raid gear will get to a point where itâs equal to or better but initially I think the peices are fine like this. Youâll still want the 445 raid gear unless you want to use 425 boots in M+.
Generally I agree - but a pair of boots isnât going to break the game.
Also they threw out the âraid to raid, do other stuff to do other stuffâ mantra long with stuff like the AP grind, M+ gear, Legion legendary items, azerite armor, and now stuff like IA and PVP for essences, etc.
Iâd love to see a return to where progression raiding did not require spending hours grinding non-raid content (outside the typical consumables weâve always used).
The gloves are currently being tested on turnips in naz, most people have found that the healing proc doesnât proc for non-healers, but this might change.
The boots and wrists are objectively better for many classes than 445 gear, even if you get lucky with a socket on the mythic pieces.
The belt is the only piece where I find the it more akin to vanilla where a piece is BiS for one or two fights. I like that there is a belt that increases aberration damage (the threat damage proc belt could be a problem if it generates too much threat, the negative outcome from that could deter people from using it as a dps class).
I see your point and do not entirely disagree but in a game that tries to offer something for everyone (except gear crafters which was slightly fixed this patch but only slightly) what is truly wrong with having a few pieces of gear outside of raiding and dungeons be best in slot or on par with raid gear?
You have 15 to 16 pieces of gear depending on whether you have a 2 hander or not and take one away for the neck gives you 14 to 15 pieces of gear so take 4 away for being able to obtain from other sources. Why is this such a problem for you?
Are there not other people who play this game for other reasons than raiding or doing dungeons only? Yes there are and more of them than there are raiders and what is wrong with them having that cool feeling of having some good gear for a change?
It is not like it is every single piece of benthic gear that is best in slot.
