So gems got a nerf cause of how strong they made gem slots. However the procs on the benthic gear makes it stronger then most mythic raid gear. This is interesting. Having this being told to me is disturbing.

just for this patch go ahead and just get the 425 gear when the cap is 440+ when next patch comes around benthic gear will be useless and you will be behind and playing catch up.
maybe thats blizzards plan.

It’s a combination of catch up gear and token gear for when drops aren’t going your way while raiding.
There is nothing wrong this.

You’ll be behind for about a week, then your 425 boots will be replaced just as quickly as your 445 pants and it will be like the previous patch never happened at all. Because that’s how the modern game works.
I don’t have a problem with world quest gear being BiS, I just don’t like how much we’re seeing gear that is better than gear that is many ilvls above it.
Though this is partly due to how gear at max level exists only in multiple of 5, kind of undoing the point of the stat and ilvl squishes, but it wouldn’t feel so out of place if it was just a case of like 391 gear being better than 397 gear for example, even if it’s only a matter of the numbers used.
