The 100% horde servers with 5k+ horde will be fine.
It’s the ones with <2-3k that will collapse like what’s happening to Blaumeux. The problem is just that nobody wants to join a server that’s 100-0 horde, and you eventually just end up with a mostly stagnant raid population of raid loggers. The world gets empty fast and the economy slows down dramatically.
The servers have enough high end players/top end guilds that can clear content and raid log, but then you’re missing the middle group of leveling characters/new players/incoming transfers to outweigh quitters/etc.
And that makes it impossible for smaller guilds/middle quality guilds to replenish their raid groups, so they eventually leave.
It’s just a cascading effect. I really missed seeing all the alliance around the world; it’s nice having my SPY addon pinging constantly like it always used to…
And there are servers like mine (kirtonos) that are basically full horde with around 1k of us remaining.
We should be offered free transfers to servers like Benediction that are lopsided the other way.
Blizzard is basically Black mailing us to pay for a transfer or just deal with it.
Well a lot of us are going to do neither and will eventually just quit the game altogether if they continue to show that they just don’t care about us as paying customers.
Yep, I’ve been trying to stay out of this and other Bene threads because I’m not a part of the server and don’t want to be but I’ve got to agree with this.
That’s what I told my guildies who were like “Why do we care if the alliance all leave Earthfury”. It’s well if nothing else because when it becomes 99% horde then horde ends up leaving too. Right now EF horde side feels fine. The Alliance side does not. Who knows about the future.
I do not like one-sided “PVP” servers or super mega servers (and I know others feel the same). Thunderfury is the only server that going by the numbers actually looks decent to me. At least I had a fun 2 years. That’s the most positive thing I can think any all this.
The 5k+ servers will lose population but the snowball effect really begins around 2-3k. People transfer off 100-0 servers, but no one transfers to 100-0 servers. And new characters won’t roll on 100-0 servers even if the population is high.
Without new players coming in there is no one doing low-level dungeons, or even level 70 dungeons. Everyone is raidlogging. A 100-0 server with 4k horde raiders will feel a lot more dead than a 50-50 server with 4k horde raiders. Especially during non-peak hours.
The main thing Herod has going for it is that the other options aren’t much better.
Exactly, I told my guildees the same thing in the 2nd month of TBC as alliance started to abandon Blaumeux en masse. They were like “why do we care, it doesn’t affect us” and I was like once the server becomes 100-0 horde we’re going to be forced to leave to because the horde population won’t be able to sustain/replenish itself.
The nice thing about Whitemane is that the alliance seem to punch way above their weight in world PVP; obviously I haven’t been here that long and anybody that’s been there for 1-2 years will be able to give a much more accurate picture than somebody that just recently transferred but they just seem super active everywhere in numbers that match horde.
I just don’t think smaller servers will be able to survive; anything under 2-3k raid loggers (especially 100-0 servers) are likely going to collapse as soon as phase 2 is a couple months in…
Yep; even just a month ago or so with 2k raid logs per week, Blaumeux was just dead at times of day in Org/Shattrath with <50 characters in each. That’s just not good. And you’d have lots of primetime hours where there’d be extremely few dungeons being run. Trying to recruit/fill our 2nd raid group became impossible late last month, so we had a bunch of raiders stranded and unable to get progression in SSC/TK which forced us to make this decision to try to keep our guild together.
Most of the smaller/mid-size guilds have left or are in the process of leaving, and I’d imagine the same process is playing out across the 2-3k size 100-0 realms.
The way it’s looking a ton of people will just quit. Burnout and lack of interest has really seem to hit servers harder recently. Give it a few months of this same phase and no big QoL updates from blizzard and I think a lot of people start heading for the hills.
Also you horde or alliance rp haters are actually cringe. I hope you enjoy your weekend larping with your brown bag lunch packed by mom.
Ultimately it comes down to what people are playing for; the hardcore players that want to see BT/Sunwell/WOTLK will stay.
But the casual players that are just there to do some dungeons, maybe PUG a raid here or there will probably quit.
Even though I just paid for my transfers (as did my whole guild); I would not mind if there were free transfers offered from these 100-0 servers to servers where that’s the minority faction.
The game needs it, and it’s likely the only way to keep a lot of these people playing. There will be plenty that just quit instead of paying to transfer.
I think the only way to really preserve as many people as possible to to just consolidate these servers down to just 8-10 mega servers.
Same is happening to Grobbulus. Used to be a 50/50 but alliance transfers have it at damn near 70/30, and we feel it. Dailies are camped, stones are camped, 1:1 pvp battle turns into 10:1 very fast. Why the hell blizzard doesn’t lock transfers down per faction/realm is beyond me.
World PVP can only not be total vomit if the factions are somewhat balanced in population. There needs to be some sort of strategy put in place by Blizzard, be it merging or whatever, to keep them balanced or else it becomes miserable for everyone.
This was bound to happen. It happened in retail. I think Tichondrius became known as the horde server, and KelThuzad was the alliance one.
You guys post as if there is anything that can be done about it. Well there is one thing, never have opened up the ability to server transfer. But that would just delay the inevitable and probably would have cost Activision subscribers as well as the lost revenue from the transfers.
So it’s a real no-brainer for the board and shareholders.
Anyway, you won’t ever fix it, it will get worse. Sorry. There is zero solution. Even if people could transfer every day for free, it will become imbalanced.
Nowhere but up to go now since all the Horde servers one sided anyways. Would be nice if people would stop going to Whitemane and grow a back bone to Bene.
Looks like Heartseeker’s dying. I logged on around 7pm yesterday - alt was in Stormwind. LFG was dead. Trade was dead. Hopped over to alts on other servers, they were far more active.
Ironically this is why Allies left Kromcrush to go to benediction initially.
I find it hilarious. They never wanted fairness, they had it. They dominated PvP on a 60-40 server. That wasn’t good enough. So they all left Kromcrush to go to Benediction, and in turn, killed that server.
Actions, meet consequences. You guys deserve it, sorry.
