Benched for choosing the wrong covenant

Yes as Enhance stopping to channel does seem odd. I play elemental, with a bit of resto here and there, and casting is very standard for me. A slightly longer cast, that’s channeled is easy enough to get around, and it’s been incredibly helpful so far.

Came here to say exactly this.

Good on you for choosing a covenant you actually enjoy. You’ll find a better guild.

Based alone on ur leader’s response, find a new guild. You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life. He gonna throw a hissy fit over something fine; he gonna insult you personally? Nah man, get out of my life with that crap

Ultimately only World First competitors should care that much about covenant choices, but we all know monkey see monkey do so guild leaders are gonna act like it matters.

Anyways, I’m not a competitive player and haven’t even done normal raids in like…three expacs? So my advice is probably not worth much, but I always say fun is the most important in a game. If someone is being rude or making things unenjoyable, ditch them and find someone you enjoy playing with. If that means looking extra hard for a new guild that raids heroic and doesn’t care as much about min/maxing, so be it.

It’s worth it in the end to have a more pleasant play experience

A conflict related to raiding destroyed my once thriving social guild. Thanks for reminding me again why I am not an organized raider.

Get a better guild - one that MEANS IT when they say “you are free to choose any Covenant that suits your concept”.

Because it only matters if you are in a super hyper competitive “World First” chasing achievenator guild, or if the players are all SO bad they can’t get anything done without min-maxing to the Nth.

Take the time on our way out the door to tell the Officers that you are leaving because they mis-represented their Covenant policy.

The best covenant for my Destro Warlock is Night Fae. NIGHT FAE. I mean, really blizz? Venthyr, which fits a Warlock best, is the worst one of them all for DWarlock. I mean, really blizz?

This, this CRAP is why I HATE these damned borrowed power systems!

I don’t think there is such a massive gap in most covenant choices right now that you can’t properly raid at a heroic level.

The biggest issue here is min-maxing. And as long as you have the proper level of gear and ability, you should be competitive in the dps rankings.

Sucks that such a horrible person was in charge of your previous guild, good luck with your future endeavors.

I planned on going necrolord with all my locks. Looks like I’ll be going venthyr just to see how many I trigger lol already went necrolord on my druid and plan on going necrolord on my vengeance dh

I mean, you chose to join that guild, and they clearly suck. That’s on you, my friend.

Not really when they stated the gm was friendly and all nice for a long time. It isn’t ops fault the guild leader was really a douche all along.

Why would you hamper yourself on your way to reach the number 10 by starting at 0 or 1 when you could have started at 2 or 3?

Impressive troll thread.

You don’t even need a good group comp for heroic raiding. Do what ya want. Sounds like your gm is an complete idiot. I’m a priest and I chose venthyr partly for torghast, questing, pvp and does it affect me huge when I pve as holy? Lmao no. Maybe as a CE guild running mythic raids or +20 keys… But won’t make no difference for me

  1. No
  2. I don’t think they purposefully went out of their way to make it the best choice for that spec. Balancing things like covenants is probably pretty hard. What’s good today will likely not be the best by 9.1 (maybe sooner.)
  3. Play what you enjoy and try to find like minded people that have a spot for you and the character you like playing.
  4. Yes but most of the “good” raiding guilds are probably not recruiting at the moment.

Sorry that you’ve had to deal with the bad side of the MMO community. Fortunately not everyone min-maxes like that and I’m sure you’ll find an even better guild soon enough.

I’m not sure how far it’s supposed to play but Blizzard’s promise was it was only supposed to have a 2 to 3% impact on your damage output between a “good” choice and a “bad” choice for covenant.

I can’t see it being a be-all, end-all issue for just heroic raiding as if the guild isn’t progressing it’s probably not just because of a few sub-optimum covenant choices. I’d probably tell such a raid team to check every other possible issue with lack of progression before focusing on covenant choices.

It’s also a big difference whatever or not it’s a *real heroic progression guild who will get through it in 4 - 6 weeks (or less) or one that’s just barely a heroic progression guild where they stand a 50/50 shot of getting AOTC by the end of the tier and only with some serious hand-holding by mythic friends.

If your guild planned on doing Mythic raiding I’d understand where the Guild Leader is coming from with their rules. Them just being heroic would cause strife for sure.

First off, it is good that you left that guild if the leader is a sexist jerk. Second, he had no idea what he was talking about. The whole point of gruesome art is that it is not pretty. the two covenants with a Pretty aesthetic are Kyrian and Ardenweald. The other two are Gruesome.

Also, if covenant choice was going to matter, they should have not told you otherwise in the beginning.

Keep pushing your m+ keys and try your luck at joining a guild you find along the way.

With this tuning it actually is.

Some of these bosses are crazy at the moment and Sludgefist puts entire Mythic bosses to shame on even Normal right now.

it’s a game. it’s not that deep. if they said covenant choice doesn’t matter then he has no right to be so angry and rude
