Why do players 9 levels below someone have such a low chance to hit someone higher lvl then them? I understand the concept in PVE with raid bosses and higher level mobs etc - however
raid bosses have a set hit cap regardless of your level - it’s why level 50 twinks in wrath could raid MC - because the hit cap for hitting raid bosses was the same at 50 as it was 60. they struggled a bit on trash but had no trouble with the bosses. It’s also why 70 twinks could do event bosses meant for level 80s like the headless horseman. so there is a precedence for universal hit caps.
Why is this not the case in pvp brackets? Why even bother having the pvp brackets so big if a lvl 50 or 60 has only a 40-60% chance their spells will hit a 69? in wrath I know 70s needed something like 60% hit to be hit capped against 79s and even more if they where targeting a blood elf ret paladin.
end game pvp hit cap is fine 5-10% - but I think low level brackets don’t need this insane discrepancy. People might hate twinks less if they where actually given the chance to outplay them while leveling. I don’t mind people twinking and making the most of their characters in specific brackets because each bracket ends up feeling like it’s own unique version of the game and that’s pretty cool.
however - entering a new bracket and then being stomped simply because my spells can’t hit anyone is annoying - this doesn’t seem to be as much of a problem with melle classes or hunters for example - who rather than miss I think get glancing blows or something similar.
just let me spam fear/polymorph/freeze the 19-29-39 etc who is inevitably going to kill me but atleast for 10-15 seconds I can take him out of the game and be useful before I’m ruthlessly murdered. let us play the game. If i’m going to get ganked let it be because the guy ganking me either is better or spent 100 plus sweaty hours figuring out how to min max his 69 twink feral/lock/hunter or w/e I respect that kind of dedication - but please let me polymorph him. let me make him sweat a little in frustration before he steam rolls over me.
change how the hit cap works against players higher level than you for spells at the very least and if not why is this a problem worth keeping?
Yes, it is very true that later on pvp brackets are split and then even later down the line hit is made almost useless. What point is being made here, is that in a pvp scenario the hit discrepancy is different than in PVE, so his argument is why not make this hit rating streamlined? Yes, the argument that a lower level character should miss a higher level in a stat mainly meant for PVE, is kind of erroneous. The gear descrepency, talents, and abilitys being so vastly different over the span of 1-9 level differences should be the majority of difference in using a lower level player in PVP versus much higher level player. The point being made here, is that hit rating should be semi normalized in PVP and made a streamlined scaling system as to not discourage players from PVP for no reason than you cannot even hit an opponent in instanced PVP. There is no incentive to PVP in the current game outside of rated arenas, making it so a player that hops in for the simple enjoyment of PVP, will be obliterated because almost all of their abilities are gated behind a stat that cannot be made up for versus an already inescapable gear discrepancy amongst others.
For the TLDR, gear, talents, and abilities should already be enough of a road block to overcome. But to render your champ useless because half of your toolkit is resisted or missed from a stat you cannot overcome is extremely discouraging. He is not asking for a removal of hit, just a more baseline and balanced hit scaling throughout the BG’s level
bracket.
Yet twink 60s can thrive in 69s bracket.
Why? They get more % out of the ratings on their gear. As you level up, it decays. So honestly I wouldn’t be against keeping your gear in top shape, I like to “cheap twink” as I go. There are definitely ways to get spell hit at low levels, and a little will go a long way.
only specific classes can ‘thrive’ in 69 bgs as you put it at lvl 60 - and there is a difference between thrive and survive - if they thrived there would be more of them. Regardless of you being able to get 5-10% spell hit at lvl 60 you still aren’t hit capped against players in your pvp bracket.
