Bellular pretty much gets it

I enjoyed that he also talked about the fact that once you’ve already “failed the timer” you should just wait for your cooldowns to counteract the torments. Blizzard is actually creating the very problem they’re trying to prevent.

True, true. (I would heart instead of replying, but I’ve run out for the day.)

I’m assuming we’re talking about the timer and what was directly said from the dev. Being that they didn’t really want players to be waiting for CDs.

They are looted from Resonating Chests on floors 1-18. Additional drops in Torghast include epic gear from bosses (one every 6 floors, so 3 pieces per run, likely limited to one run per week) and some sort of epic dust, my guess is the dust will be either some sort of currency to buy Torghast related cosmetics, or a necessary turn in to progress your Covenant Sanctum. About 3/4 of Shadowlands is NYI on alpha right now so it’s hard to tell.

That said, the stated goals for Torments don’t match up with current alpha gameplay - 3 (maybe 4) of the 6 Torments actively slow you down, rather than nudging you to go faster, and the other two function as soft enrages, which the devs specifically said they weren’t intended to be. Further, the “safe zone” on each floor isn’t safe - while the debuffs don’t stack, the extra mobs don’t spawn, and the fire DoT misses every tick, ordinary patrols can aggro you inside the safe zone, which puts you in combat, dispels the safe zone, and Torments then start working the same as if you had purposely started the floor.

I’m willing to give Blizz the benefit of the doubt that this is super early alpha and there are kinks being worked out, but I am absolutely going to give feedback on the content as it is available for me to play on the alpha at any given time. I don’t care about their potential future design goals, I care about what gets pushed to the servers, and if it is bugged on alpha and not reported, it will get pushed to beta, and then live, in the same bugged state.

Please, trust but verify, and keep on them. There’s many pressures/reasons for them NOT to change away from time pressure mechanics, and few for them to do so. Once bitten, twice shy.

Not the best rhetorical question I’ve ever herd.

Bellular is an interesting guy and I agree with him more than I don’t. I get the Dev’s have difficult jobs and I’m sure a certain kind of cynicism develops in their line of work when it comes to their game and the people who play it. But man, Bellular nailed it around the 10-minute mark. I completely agree with him when he says Blizzard comes off as a company who lacks emotional intelligence - They are a company who has demonstrated a massive lack of empathy for us - I have felt this way about them for some time. I feel like this is a trend for the company and that is a problem. It’s as though the developers often have a hard time making themselves vulnerable to us - Precisely why a lack of trust often exists. I can’t count how many times player feedback has been universally one way only for Blizzard to take the stance “no this is how it is, we know better than you do.” A good example of this is the debate around Damage cooldowns all being put on the GCD. Another good example is that one time J. Allen Brack told us we didn’t want Classic WoW - The President of the company who sets the vision for his staff often thinks this way - This is precisely the kind of culture you dont want at ANY company.

I’m not saying they havent come around and stated they have been wrong about some things, but their stubborness is absolutely still there and still looms often.

I 100% agree. I’ll definitely run it a few times but the thought of running this for 2yrs… I definitely won’t be doing that. A month or two at most.

Game journalist in general are pandering, tabloid creating, political hacks who couldn’t cut it in the modern media.

The video Internet IS the modern media, the old media just hasn’t realized that yet.

I think if they had bonus anima powers that were on a Timer to reward players that don’t wait for cds that would reward speed play instead of hurting player choice.

Hear me out guys, and hopefully Blizz, if there has to be a soft timer why not add a pause button? What I mean is that you basically add the option to stop the debuffs but it also puts your large CDs on pause as well. If the odd 0.01% want to take their time between absolutely every mob pull, then yeah, put the Torments in to to stop them. But for the average Joe who might need to help their significant other unload the groceries or take a call, having a pause button that gives them the option to do so without causing anymore anxiety during these wonky times is a pretty good thing I’d say.

He also agreed with me that dungeons were the best in Cata, but most of people on the forums would have a temper tantrum if you agreed with our opinion that cata dungeons prenerf was the best dungeon experience.

Then woe to us who play video games. Those narcissist would rather watch the industry burn just to push their viewpoint. Many publishers are bending the knee for the almighty metacritic critic’s nod of approval.

Bellular pretty much gets it. “Click bait sells”.

As decent as some of his videos can be I hate how he markets them and honestly there are so many I just skip because of the cringy click bait titles.

While I overall disagree with your single point, at the same time there’s a kernel of truth there.

However, there’s ALWAYS been that kind of thing, even way back when there was just three over the air major networks (Nielsen rating, payola, etc.).

This one is worth watching, its done really good.

And Bellular has a video out as to why he was trying to pull eyeballs to his video that way (short version: Google algorithm).

This video is definitely worth watching.

Dude if you’re not:

  • Getting paid by bellular
  • Are bellular

then you’re missing out.

He spouts garbage. Feely wheely, timey whimey, garbage that people eat up like any other good click bait.

That’s one way to look at it I guess.

Interesting fact. He has more subscribers than Preach (who I love) and Asmondgold.
