Being kicked for DC

Little rant so bear with me.

Was in a random BfA leveling dungeon when I suddenly lag and disconnect. Hoped the group would be patient enough as I was only a DPS. Dungeon was past halfway mark. I was friendly and reassured the tank when there were a couple wipes beforehand. Logged in less than TWO MINUTES later to find I’ve already been kicked.

Do people get a high off of being able to kick someone? It’s not like I just sat there and logged out intentionally. And the dungeon wasn’t fresh we were halfway finished.

/end rant

They don’t know that it is going to be two minutes. Perhaps you lose power and won’t be able to reconnect for hours. Maybe you just alt-f4ed to quit because you were frustrated with the wipes. There is no way for them to know. In fact maybe they decided to wait one minute to see if you would log back on before kicking. Either way yes I get that it’s annoying, it’s not like we chose to disconnect.

is it at all possible it just finished?

and sometimes even when i dont care. 3 others can out vote me as the tank.

They were a slow moving group, I highly doubt they killed two bosses in two minutes. Took us like 15 minutes for the first two bosses.

i see… them maybe the Tank just got out voted. you need majority willing to hold out and if the group is already moving that slow they can ill afford to be down a player without a carry.

Edit: do you get deserter debuff from a kick?

Not gonna lie. A DPS in a leveling dungeon goes LD I probably wouldn’t notice. Unless you were the level 10 that was carrying me, then it’s a problem.

This is a very strange timeline.

Yes. Being able to inflict administrative violence on others has taken the place of the physical aggression no longer tolerated.

To be fair, tho, there is no way to know how long you’ll be disconnected for. A d/c is the only time I will go along with a vote to kick. My default answer is ‘no.’

I was kicked from a Vortex Pinacle because I fell from the platform and that sent you back to the entrance, I was the tank and the other players decided that looking for another tank was faster, nobody spoke in the whole run.

They are not in disc to know what happened to you . I wouldn’t call the kick but I would accept it if some started the kick

I got into a Timewalking dungeon today on my warlock, right as the pizza came to the building. Exactly one driver will not deliver to my door, and I got him. I had to take the elevator down to get it and told them such. I came back and they had kicked me. People will just kick, they don’t really think too much about it.

That’s a lot of time in instance runs. Unless they are your friends, no one is going to wait when a new DPS is waiting.

You don’t after you kill a single boss.
That’s why most leavers rush first boss and dip.

Depends on the situation. If it was a premade, all friends/guildies, then possibly yes. Guild/friend groups enjoy ganging up on the odd man out.

Normally though, if a person starts a vote kick, majority will hit yes and blindly vote regardless of whats happening.
You go offline. Someone vote kicks “dc”, everyone votes to insta pass.
Part of running with strangers you’ll never see again.

Could have been your dps was low and combined with the dc, they just decided to get rid of you. No telling.

That’s annoying.

You can usually tell if it’s a simple DC, though considering you said your group was struggling a little, that may have prompted them to think you just bailed.

I tend to vote no for DC’s if under 2 mins of absence. I’ve been given that leeway in the past, so I pay it forward.

I will kick if you go a f k. And I expect the same
Your rant was just what you said, a rant.

You weren’t wronged. You can’t expect people to be psychic and know when you’re going to return

Yes. That’s the Wow community for you man. A happy famiry!

It pays to consider the context as it exists from the other viewpoint.

Their options:

  1. Wait an unknown amount of time for you to come back, which might be never.
  2. Kick you and instantly get a replacement with no personal cost to themselves.

The people in your random groups have no affinity toward you personally. For all intents and purposes you might as well be an intelligent npc. I wouldn’t instantly kick someone who was dced but I certainly would after two minutes. They don’t owe you anything; your internet is your problem.

they have no idea how long you will be - 2 minutes is a fair bit of time to wait for someone to just relog back in - it should be easy to do within 30 seconds.

I don’t think it’s that… old content… sorry that happened…but I really think people just either think you don’t want to be in that dungeon, got what you wanted or… sadly just in a rush. This is really a different game in my opinion… people are different too.
DON’T TANK IT PERSONAL. Just don’t. It sucks sometimes… but, life is what it is and so is this game. JMO.

I was being kicked too. They were about to. But worse than DC… I was lagging.

I lag’d then when it caught up, poof, I was already dead. ANd the worse part is I was the only one dead. Anyway, they wiped and we had another attempt.

And here it went again… I died again after lagging. So weird, I didnt experience this on LFR and Normal. My first attempt on Heroic Raz and I keep on lagging. I decided to leave. I dont want to get AoTC by being carried. I would do it again next week.

Dude, I crashed and I didn’t even get a chance to rejoin my timewalking, I crashed to desktop, reloaded wow…

standing in Valdrakken, it took me all of 1.5 minutes to get back in game.

comical.
