Being banned for using a fishing add-on

Hello, I like many other per-purchased The War Within so I could start professions and what not early. The other day I sat for a few hours maxing out my fishing using a add on called Better Fishing from curseforge, once I was done I logged off and went to bed. When I got up in the morning I got a email stating that my account was closed due to “Hacking” I have put in multiple tickets and keep getting the same response, even when I ask for proof. I have been playing this game since Cataclysm and have never done any “hacking”, I am not super tech savy. I am reaching out for any assistance one the matter, I was banned the day the game fully release for everyone and I paid for the $90 version, I can’t even play the expansion I paid for and starting a new account just hurts after putting in so much work on my characters over the years. I was also online with friends at the time of me fishing that can prove I didn’t use hacks and only used the add-on.

Submit an appeal using the link in the email which informs you of your suspension. Posting here doesn’t accomplish anything.

They wont give you proof as for the addon being the cause not likely.

And for the sake of getting it out of the way: Add-ons themselves don’t get folks action. Add-ons can be broken if Blizzard doesn’t like how it works, was done in the past.

Better Fishing would not have caused the issue itself, thousands of people use that addon. If Blizzard doesn’t like how one functions, they change the game to prevent that functionality.

If you were using another piece of software to automate the function of Better Fishing, that would get you into trouble. But for the automation software, not the addon.

Edit: it also likely wasnt caused by something you did right before the suspension. Investigations aren’t usually that fast.

That add on has 11 million downloads and has been around for 2 years.

All you can do is file an appeal and have it reviewed once again. They will review the information that they have and make a decision from there.

It most likely has nothing to do with the addon you mentioned. I would personally look for the possibility of other software that you could have running in the background.

I would also make sure that if you are running any form of mouse or keyboard software that none of it could be set up for any form of automation. The rule of thumb is a single click or keypress equals a single key press.

I know these aren’t the answers you were hoping for and I am sorry about that.

They use templates relies. They’re not going to talk or debate what was or wasn’t against the rules or give files.

I have 2 account and was running them at once for dungeon Q’s, but I was playing both moving one toon or having the toon on auto follow during the timerunner event, other than that I have no clue what they are referring to for hacking.

I use Better Fishing. That definitely isn’t what got you banned.

Could you elaborate on the part about moving one toon? I get the auto follow part, but were you moving both toons at the same time without auto follow?

No I had to move one toon at a time switching from screen to screen when the follow stopped.

Alrighty, thank you. Sorry, just working it all out in my head.

This could have been for something that happened weeks ago. Your only option is to appeal as nothing can be done on the forums.

Not a problem any help is appreciated. I just wanna get this resolved and my account back.

How are you switching? ANYTHING that “streamlines” multiboxing is against the rules. Even something as simple as the window automatically selecting when you mouse over it is against the rules. You HAVE to alt-tab and do everything 100% manually.

I literally have 2 monitors and move the cursor between the two to swap what toon I move about. I am not using a program to move either character.

Moving the cursor between them, if Windows is configured to switch the window automatically, is seen as “streamlining” and thus automation. You have to manually switch the window every time. They are VERY VERY strict with this since the multiboxing changes.
