Behavior Warning

I just logged in to Cata Classic, I reckon I created my character when it first was released and haven’t touched it in the better part of a year. After about 30 minutes I receive two notifications simultaneously.

  1. Behavior Warning: Your recent communication is not in line with how most WoW players communicate. You have been reported multiple times for Language, and further reports may result in you losing privileges or being suspended.

I literally have not said anything in ANY chat.

  1. Thank you for reporting.
Thank you for your report. Players who violate our policies disrupt the WoW experience for everyone etc. While we can’t provide specific details about account penalties, your recent reports let to actions against a player and their account.

I have not reported ANYONE.

I’m assuming these are bugs??

Have you been playing other versions of the game? I do believe the behavior warnings are sent to you regardless of which game version you happen to be in at the time.

This could also be from another version of the game.

If you haven’t reported anyone at all in any version of WoW, then I would consider that a bug.

Not sure what else could trigger the behaviour warning, but even the Blues here will not be able to give you information about it as nothing is noted until such a time as it could trigger a penalty investigation.

This is just a “heads up, people have reported you somewhere on your battle.net account recently” notification. It could be from any game. Not even the blues can see what it was unless it rises to the level of an account action.

No, somewhere down the line, someone has reported you, and you have been given a warning. It is just a better way of saying any form of bad bahaviour that does violate the policies can lead to a silence or suspension.

If you are reported several times in World of Warcraft for violating the in-game rules, the game will send you a warning letting you know that you will need to be careful or you may get a silence or suspension in game. This is completely automated and cannot be seen or modified by Customer Support. If you receive one of these warnings, it is recommended that you make sure you are adhering to the In-Game Code of Conduct.

If they communicated with you in game chat, there will be a Blizzard logo beside their name. If there wasn’t, you were being trolled.

Behaviour warnings are just notices on your screen. Just like the notices you get about a ticket response or thanking you for a report. It isn’t a direct communication from a Blizzard employee.

I’ve seen the “Thank you for reporting” message pop up a few times even though I hadn’t reported anyone, so I suspect there’s some kind of bug with that one.

Sometimes the “someone reported you” and “thank you for reporting” messages can get backed up and not delivered until you switch to another version of the game. For whatever reason, whenever I logged in to Classic (something that only very infrequently happened) I would get INUNDATED with a billion retroactive “thanks for reporting” messages from when I used to try to clean up Trade Services from people advertising on level-1 characters.

I’m pretty sure it’s a known issue. But, yeah. If you haven’t played Classic in a while, those messages could be from any version of the game and they’re probably old. If you never actually got dinged, then the GMs decided that whatever you were reported for wasn’t worth a penalty.

I’ve never received one of these. Was it in the in-game mail? Or the official Blizzard blue text?

I’ve received a number of these. They’re always delivered via in-game mail. How’d you get yours?

I believe it’s an on-screen popup window.
