Beginner class

What would be a good class or spec for someone who hasn’t pvped before to dip their toes and get into it and are there any servers oriented towards pvp where there might be guilds for pvp?

Ret, probably. Pretty simple, does lots of damage, easy to save yourself, and has room to improve by actually using your toolkit to keep others going.

DH is pretty mongo.

Whatever you’re most comfortable with in PvE. If you’re starting from scratch:

Melee: Ret / DH / Hunter
Caster: A different story, but the -easier- caster ( IMO ) to get in to is probably going to be boomy/warlock.

But anything you play for a bit will be decent. I always PvP 61-70 for honor and to get some play time on, then random epic/normal daily and farm the rest in blitz for CQ. I’m by no means good but I usually do a few rounds of RSS to mess around on and float around 1800-2000.

Edit: TWW is right around the corner and I have no idea whats happening with it PvP wise, but you can level so fast right now that you probably have time to try a few classes/specs to see what you like style wise.

mm/bm hunter.

The Ret option as it is easy to do its damage rotation sounds good on paper but doesnt translate to being true in pvp combat. Retribution has the most visually telegraphed offensives, defensives, and utility. Most of Rets defensives are 4-5 min cooldowns that additional lock you from using the others for 30 seconds due to forbearance, and Ret defensives are removed early or stolen by spellsteal and dispells. Instead of suffering playing Ret Id recommend playing one of the most tanky specs in pvp, MW Monk and Preservation Evoker are basically gods. If you want to tank in pvp Gaurdian is the most durable tank. If dps is the goal you want something with most of the following:
Mortal Strike
Instant mobility
Invisibility
Lots of CC
Strong self healing

Ret has none of the above.

start with a healer

ret pally ez dam u got healz 2 n u got immunities wuld also reco dh 4 same reezons if u want range go mm

mm hunturd

2 buttons total

900 yard range

for some reason the most tankiest range in the game

can heal entire hp bar if u some reason screw up and get hit by anything

stealth lets u delete some1s hp bar before they even see u

1800+ CR in shuffle has Ret as the number one spec besting every healer as well, as far as shear volume.

It’s very easy to do oppressive damage and not die for non-advanced play. All the counter play you speak of doesn’t happen at the beginning level la of play.

Oppositely, mage is incredibly strong, but I’d never tell someone new to PvP to role one because you will die a lot without utilizing your entire kit early on against melee zergs.

Similarly I wont endorse in good faith a new player learn pvp as a Hunter. One decent Rogue, HDH, or Warrior finds you, you’re going to die if you are not a master at kiting and can manage to not be stunned long enough to push defensives AND get assistance from your team to live. Hunter is not durable, but it can be a bit of an escape artist .

I think we’re talking about battlegrounds here, not arena, so I’d say marksman hunter is the way to go because in larger scale battles you can just stand back and press two buttons

Which two buttons? Rapid fire and Aimed shot might do the most damage, but they wont do a whole lot without Death Chakrum, True Shot Aura, on use Agility buff trinket, Crimson consumable, laying 3 traps including a knockback trap as needed to hope to live, cursor macro AoE stun, 4 defensives, 2 Snare/Slow removals, managing maximizing distance to not be in the deadly melee fest.

Thinking beginner level, and if you’re gonna start with two buttons, make it rapid fire and aimed shot at a distance. The utility and kiting comes later

The obvious choice is Enhance shaman because reasons.

There is certainly less beginner friendly specs than MM, ill give you that.

Not Mage or Subtlety.

Everything else is fine.

marksman hunter can be played by a blind man with no arms its that easy
