I would like an official statement on if the Dark Portal hearthstone acts as an additional hearthstone that teleports you to the Dark Portal or if its just a Cosmetic while using your hearthstone and it uses your normal hearth location and cooldown.
Depending on the answer really has me on the edge of if I’m going to buy it or not and I wont be purchasing it until I know for sure how it works.
EDIT: This thread got derailed. I only wanted an answer from a Dev since anything else is hearsay. Please don’t reply to this unless you 100% know the answer and unless you are a Blizzard employee you cant be 100%.
As it likely uses the animation from the I believe TCG- toy, It is just a hearthstone that uses an Animation, sharing the CD with your normal hearthstone

70 dollars for a second HS. I know it does not work that way, but that is the mindset you push, and that is exactly why retail is and always will be garbage. Modern gamers are like drug addicts that always need the ultimate fix, and instead of slowing em down, you elevate it. Perfect. Enjoy TBC fellas, cause WotLK is gonna be an absolute trashfest
Stop explaining it away with “its just cosmetic so who cares”. Its not. a lvl 58 boost for 40 bucks lets you skip 58 levels in the game, meaning it actually has a gameplay change implied with it, cause you can just pay your way to 58 instead of actually having to lvl it. Thats not cosmetic.
Neither is a free mount in the game. Instead of paying for it ingame and having to farm for it, you just pay real life money and suddenly you are a rider. Thats also a gameplay change.
If the dark portal thing would be a second hearth stone or another hearthstone, thats also a gameplay change. It allows one play to port here or there every hour in addition to the normal hs (now im sure thats not how it works, but i was just pointing out if it did it would also be a gameplay change, albeit being minute).
And everyone in here defending this BS is probably too naive to see that it will not stop with these few toys or this mount. Its just the gateway to a bigger monetization scheme that is yet to come. Anyone who has played a blizz game in the last 10 years should have had this “pleasent” experience happen to em.
We know it won’t stop. We aren’t naive. We just don’t care anymore. We’ve been playing for nearly 20 years at this point. We’re used to blizzards antics. You can get upset all you want but blizzard will not stop. Too many people will pay regardless.
You can choose to not pay if you want. That’s your choice. But don’t call us naive because we’ve already gone through what you are right now and we don’t care anymore. You’re engaged in an exercise of futility.
