Been playing since OG Beta and can't post a dang link here

This is dumb, there needs to be something for people who have played for 20 year to be able to post a link or drop in a picture and I am not talking about trusted levels.

Well, I hate to tell you, but that’s how you do it. You raise your trust level. That’s just how the discourse software works. Unfortunately, posting a suggestion like this in the CS forums won’t help much either.

You’re welcome to post in this forum though to provide it:

That wasn’t condescending though, it was accurate information. Blizzard doesn’t own Discourse and has pretty much no say in how their systems work.

You can still post links they just need to be in code blocks so it goes through. Users can’t click on the links, but they can copy and paste.

Edit: You want the “code line” section. That will show you how to post a link without being trust level 3.

Uh, it was factual and I didn’t post it with any intent of being condescending. Not liking the facts can come across when reading it as “condescending” I guess.

Did you post in the right forum to provide your feedback? Or did you get stuck on not liking my reply?

I am sorry Myk, but the Blizzard forums have never allowed open posting of clickable links and images. Unfortunately some people abuse that to post inappropriate things, or malware.

The current version of the forums was rolled out in 2018 and is made by a company called Discourse. It DOES finally have some player linking ability built into it, but it has to be earned by building up a trust level on the posting account.

You do that by visiting often, reading lots, tossing out a few likes or posts, and staying out of trouble with the forum Mods.

There are some white listed sites that may be available at lower trust levels, like Youtube, but generally link/image posting is not available for players.

It has nothing to do with how long we have played, or how much we spend. It is simply due to the past misuse and abuse of such things that led to it being removed long long ago. The version we have now is limited, and is likely to stay that way.

Only that my reply really wasn’t. Best of luck with your suggestion though.

You may have taken Perl’s post as condescending, but tone is REALLY hard to determine online. That is one of the reasons some people use emojis to help communicate the tone of a statement.

Trying to pick a fight to back your opinion is not going to accomplish anything constructive.

The information you wanted has been provided in a few posts. At this point, you can place a suggestion in the feedback location for the forum team if you wish. Other than that, not much more can be accomplished here.

You are just going to end up with a penalty on your account for trolling and that will lock you out of TL3 for at least 6 months.

I’m afraid the others are correct, Myk, that is how it works. While we appreciate that you may have played for a long time, that isn’t really a factor when it comes to the forum community. All accounts are treated the same, regardless of how long they have been with us.

The ability to post a picture or link can be very impactful as those given that ability can technically post practically anything they wish, which is accessible to anyone who can visit the site.

While it is true, that if they were to post something inappropriate it would likely be reported quickly and dealt with by our Moderation team, there is some content that should never be posted here. In order to help mitigate some of that risk we ask those who want that ability to fulfill some requirements in order to get there.

As noted, if you’d like to see that changed you’ll want to submit your suggestion, but as long as we have this version of the forums, it is extremely unlikely that simply having a subscription for X amount of time would be enough.

As the temperature this thread jumped to seems to be unnecessarily high I’m going to keep the thread closed.
